>takes a qt to a porn theater as a date

Nope he's /r9k/'s guy

Yeah.

That doesn't make him right, just understandable. Society failed him, which made him bitter. Repeated failings led to him choosing to recluse from any responsibility, and who can blame him? Or you? It takes a stronger person to, in the face of overwhelming disillusionment, choose to be a better person rather than falling to base violence.

...

a man surrounded by degenerates take matters into his own hands
if only we had more like him

>Repeated failings led to him choosing to recluse from any responsibility, and who can blame him?

Did you even watch the movie?

He took control of his fitness and risked his life for something small and achievable to make the world slightly better.

yeah .. no

Getting fit and killing degenerates is responsible?

Yeah sure sounds like a society can go really far if everyone adopted that attitude. All it does is fix short term problems.

> a fictional character straight outta jewlywood

you're an imbecile

Fighting evil when the authorities won't is responsible, by whatever means necessary.

you are so wrong, watch the video

I did watch your video. It was nothing but a cuckvoiced loser millennial projecting his insecurities onto actual men.

The author of a work doesn't get to impose his intended meaning onto the audience.

If you truly believe that, then what's stopping you from fighting evil by being a good person? By being one less degenerate yourself at the very least?

It's not about justice when you reach the point of vigilantism. It's about anger and hatred for humanity. And if you think that taking authority into your own hands is justifiable, it's because you no longer respect or value the rule of law that makes your life possible. That is not fighting evil.

What? He quotes Martin Scorsese own thoughts about the movie and other stuff its based on

All the old Deniro movies are good. Too bad he stuck his dick in the mud and is a cuck now.

>He quotes Martin Scorsese own thoughts about the movie and other stuff its based on

I know, but all that's irrelevant. The author's intended meaning is irrelevant.

>If you truly believe that, then what's stopping you from fighting evil by being a good person? By being one less degenerate yourself at the very least?

>implying

>It's not about justice when you reach the point of vigilantism. It's about anger and hatred for humanity. And if you think that taking authority into your own hands is justifiable, it's because you no longer respect or value the rule of law that makes your life possible. That is not fighting evil.

Who said anything about justice? Justice is a goal of the state, and in some cases the state fails to secure it. At that point, the only thing left is revenge.

If evil people don't fear the state and the state won't take measures to address that fact, then the only thing left is for criminals to fear the people.

>it's because you no longer respect or value the rule of law that makes your life possible.
Travis gets a raw deal in society despite his service in the Marines, so he justifiably has no respect or value for these laws.

At least she's not as ugly as DeBlasio's monkey wife

claiming fictional characters..how drunk are you paddy?

Alright let's talk about responsibility then. Is it your responsibility to uphold the law so that the state can attain it's so called goal of justice? Or, as you imply, does this just happen in a vacuum?

You want to mince words but the point here is respect. Responsibility is an extension of respect. If you don't take responsibility you can't respect yourself or have others respect you, and taking solid, good action contributes to the authority of the state which as you say then empowers it to mete out justice, which then causes an appropriate level of fear in the dregs of society so much so that hopefully people like Travis never have to take matters into their own hands.

All that aside, your argument is still very clearly based in distrust. Only one way to fix that and that begins with the self.
I agree with the sentiment. I even said it's understandable. But it's not justifiable. These are different things totally.

these guys

oh god, that beast is really hideous.

How can such a bluepilled cuck have starred in so many redpilled movies?
>Taxi Driver
>Wag the Dog
>Shark Tale
>Brazil

Travis was a degenerate, though. The girl wanted to be with her pimp, and he kept autistically trying to be a hero to someone who didn't want to be saved. He's more /r9k/ than anything, totally aimless anger just directed at the nearest thing he could find.

Came to post that, so have this instead.

He was a short sighted, narrow minded, unhinged loner. His only accomplishment was saving one kid in a city full of filth.

Having said that, it is a great film. Loved it.

One of these sentences describes much of Sup Forums, the other does not.

I'd argue that the anger isn't necessarily aimless. I agree that he directs his anger at all the lowlifes he encounters on a daily basis, but the anger comes as a result of a society that failed him. He served his country in the Marines, and for what?

Was he really in the Marines, or was he just bullshitting? I thought he was supposed to be kind of an unreliable narrator.

>He served his country in the Marines, and for what?
That's probably what most soldiers feel.

In the film it's established that he was honorably discharged

He's the kind of guy I root for, but also the kind of guy I wouldn't want anywhere near me or my family.
The scary thing is, I could easily see myself become like him one day, if society continues to fall to degeneracy.
