I suppose it might be ridiculous for the West, but it is actually quite true for Russia. People with grades 3.0/4.0 achieve more than other groups here. Too lazy to thoroughly explain why, but overall it's because the "excellent" students are most often just IQ 110 obedient cucks, while the guys with good grades don't bother too much with university and spend more time for extra-curricular studies, internships, and business.

I am lazy and hate bullshit busy schoolwork, so I get mostly B's now. I had a 3.75 GPA before I started nursing school, now it's like 3.5. If I did all my homework I would get more A's, but that means less time to do things I actually like, and I am not getting any younger at 31.
I am basically guaranteed a job when I am done so I just want B's to make grad school a little easier to get into.

None of them is successful now, they have shitty jobs or went for a shit-tier master's. Meanwhile twelve people from my class, including me, work for investment banks and funds, and Big 3 Consulting companies, every one of us had grades of 2.8 to 3.4 out of 4.0. Two more guys do a business of their own, both of them had grades of 2.5 I guess, they barely every showed up to the class, yet each of these two makes about TEN times more cash than the guys with straight A's.

It isn't that much different here. The straight A student's were probably autists that never interned or had connections, while the "successful" ones went into family business, were social people that networked or started on the bottom of the company they went to.
