Why are you against Universal Basic Income (UBI)?

Why are you against Universal Basic Income (UBI)?

With more jobs being automated and wealth inequality growing, it's literally the only option.

Automation is not large enough to guarantee basic income can be sustained. Maybe in the next 5-10 years but for now if someone implements an automation tax manufacturers will just move elsewhere.

If there are 10 people in a room and 9 vote to mug the last one to take his money and split it it's obviously wrong. Universal basic income is immoral no matter how many people vote to steal money from the rich and redistribute it.

Because it will just be used to split a huge segment of the population away from the working class in order to genocide them

..and most of them will be posters on this site

I disagree. If the 10th person used to hire the other nine but now uses a machine to do it and still demands a high price despite the low labor costs, should he not be eventually asked to contribute something to the people he threw out for the sake of a higher profit margin?

Stop ALL foreign aid, use that money to partially fund it. 5.8 billion dollars for Canada, cut other programs and use that money for UBI

I'm not. UBI is the future

The idea is great, but the issue is it's going to come off of someone's back. We need to get to a point where there is a surplus of goods and no more scarcity - at that point we're not in a capitalist society anymore.

It's possible in the future companies will do the universal basic income thing willingly. I think it will happen when such a large part of the population is so poor that the rich are living in shitholes, and the rich have so much wealth they don't know what to do with it. So they decide to give it to poor in order for their city to no longer be a shithole.

Assuming he is paying less for the machine, that means either prices are going down or someone else will step in and do the same and do the same and dip prices - in the long run this always is true. Why do you think T.Vs are so cheap? If they were made by only people they'd cost a shit ton

Thank god.

Because i don't need the government to be my mom and dad giving me an allowance

You honestly think that this would work with our current/future demographics? Not a fucking chance.

I'm all for a redistribution of wealth, but it CAN'T be mandated by the government or come from tax dollars.

That cunt Zuckerberg has like a trillion dollars and he's all for socialism, so why isn't he doing anything to help house the homeless?

Bernie Sanders pays half the taxes Trump pays and then complains about "fair share" when he takes broke college students' money in the name of progress and spends it on three mansions!

There are no rich socialists who aren't somehow in it for the money, if they were, they'd have redistributed their wealth, and they'd be comfortable, not rich.

This guy makes half a million dollars a year, but he has a roommate and drives one of the cheapest cars you can get, because he's banking money so he can retire early. washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2015/08/05/a-308-pound-ravens-lineman-is-driving-a-nissan-versa/

If he can handle living comfortably instead of lavishly, why can't everyone else?

Well I think it's more like,
Who's going to buy this one guys stuff if they can't get money due to lack of jobs? The economy can only work where there is a cash flow.

UBI is a neoliberal scam that will increase the cost of living even faster than it already is.

Not only will you still be required to work in order to live, whatever money you do have will be worth far less.

>The idea is great,

It's a retarded idea even on paper

Giving people a monthly check will just increase prices to make those monthly checks worthless.

It has nothing to do with taxation either, a "universal" basic income just raise prices universally.

Better comparison.
>10 people stuck on an island with an unlimited supply of food
>person 1 decides it's all his because he got to the island first and the others can just starve
>other 9 say fuck this guy and take the food anyway

> With more jobs being automated and wealth inequality growing
> and wealth inequality growing
hmmmmmm.

...

What a shame that we're not in that situation at all, and never will be.

Well I believe that those rich socialist are just sprouting socialist propaganda to justify their wealth, saying that we need to help the poor and immigrants so people think they're good. I do however admire Bill Gates though as he has given millions to Aids research and other charities. I just believe that if you want to talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk.
Though I do personally believe that some socialist ideas are good, but pure socialism is retarded.

>muh laziness
>muh entitled
>muh special snowflake
>muh gibsmedats

Double nigger.

Well it's more like there are now more rich people and compared to the average guy, they're super duper rich. This tends to give a skewed perspective on things as go back 100 years and wealth inequality was vastly higher but there were less rich people.

gibs

I don't see how it can work unless people are finally ready to admit they're just literally printing free money.

>Why won't the government give me something for nothing?!

NEETS, everybody.

It's essentially Welfare.

archive.4plebs.org/_/search/subject/knowledge bomb/username/anonymous5/tripcode/!!9O2tecpDHQ6/

Plenty of jobs if you kill all the niggers jews and what ever other brown scum.

means tested it is a good replacement for unemployment welfare. but giving the same money given to the unemployed to those with a job is stupid.

The amount of bullshit around unemployment payments is a joke in the uk and elsewhere.

> It's literally the only option
Lmao keep telling yourself that.

pure ideology
