For those who don't know, Isla is on the Cardiac Ward in Alder Hey children's hospital again. I started looking at how much Isla would cost if the NHS went private (and under the Tories it will) as yesterday she had 3 ECGs and has 1 a week as an outpatient (£160 each). I don't know how much a night on the ward costs (~9 months on the ward) but in Critical Care costs alone she's racked up around £430,000 BEFORE life saving procedures such as a pacemaker (£4480), cardiac arrest x 3 (£1920x3), arrhythmia treatment (£1920xtoo many to count).
She wouldn't get insured with her pre-existing condition and risk of fatal arrhythmia at any time.
The cost at the bottom of the picture is for all the procedures Isla has had done, many of them more than once, the £25,730 is the tip of the iceberg!
