Catholic Sup Forums - Pentecost Sunday Edition

Catholic Sup Forums is a unique thread in which Catholic Sup Forumstards may express their political opinions within a Catholic context, and in which they may help each other become better Catholics. Some questions may include: (i) How do I gain discipline over myself to get to Church on Sunday? (ii) My faith is waning - how do I find God? (iii) How do we help destroy international socialism, establish a localized, monarchical form of government, as in Old Europe? (iv) How do we expel Muslims from Europe?

Bible Quote of the Day:
Jesus said, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and cling to his wife, and the two shall become one. Thus they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, let no man separate what God has joined.” (Matthew 19:4-6)

By the way, no shit-skin Muslims allowed on this thread.

Time to end this once and for all: is masturbating a sin?

Likely. Also, STOP MASTURBATING

Is it a mortal sin?

Let's just look at some facts:
>The founder of Protestantism is considered by jews to be one of the greatest anti-semites to ever live
>The Pope is a fucking marxist

Which religion would you rather have?

Everyone is welcome.
Discuss news, ask question, give answers, be kind to one another, and above all assist one another in living the virtuous life.

Today is Pentecost.

AMEN

Went to mass today, but came way too late because I forgot it started an hour early :(
It was still beautiful though. They played some Bach on the organs, really nice.

Also went to my grandparent and got into a heated discussion with my grandfather. Found out that he lost his faith a long time ago. I didn't know because I don't see them much.

>Some questions may include: (i) How do I gain discipline over myself to get to Church on Sunday?
You just go. If you refuse to go ask yourself why.
>Are you too lazy?
You are likely commiting a sin, namely sloth. Sloth is when you don't care anymore for your duties to God. It is a difficult sin to understand, so read this on Sloth from The Summa Theologiæ of St. Thomas Aquinas newadvent.org/summa/3035.htm

>(ii) My faith is waning - how do I find God?
Reading Catholic books, watching Catholic videos like from the channel sensus fidelum (youtube.com/user/onearmsteve4192) and listening to Catholic podcasts (I don't know any, so if anyone knows a good one please reply).
Listening to classical music works great for me too, really inspires me.
Also, immerse yourself with holiness. Travel and visit beautiful Churches to seek inspiration.
Talking with someone with a strong faith.

Catholics are lame. You don't need to worship idols to know Jesus:

Do you know what the future holds for those who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ?
The Bible tells us, “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him … For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, 16-17) What a promise!

“Anyone who studies this stuff…the Illuminati, the Federal Reserve, the political side, the elite, Hollywood, all of it–anyone who goes really deep…finds God, the Bible and Jesus Christ! It’s all about Him. It’s a war on HIM.”

All of this, ALL of it..Is a WAR on CHRIST by the (((Synagogue of Satan)))) :

Because CHRIST is the EMBODIMENT of TRUTH....The LOGOS made FLESH.

For YOU.

1 John 4:4

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is *HE* that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I'm an atheist, therefore I came to fuck your post.

All lame-ass religions must vacate immediately.
This thread is reserved for the one true faith, the single largest religious sect, the bride of christ, the catholic church.

Hope all your northern hemisphere folk have a lovely Pentecost mass. God bless you all.

Have a blessed Pentecost!
Great picture, I feel like the amount of Christians on Sup Forums is increasing. The increasing amount of hate we are getting from atheists, pagans and other Sup Forumslacks just proofs it for me.

Is it a sin to call someone a racial slur? Or to get too excited about happenings?

>Is it a sin to call someone a racial slur?
Yes. Jesus' second commandment was to love one another. We should avoid hating on others.

>Or to get too excited about happenings?
Don't believe this is a sin. Unless you're use astrology or Kek to believe a happening.

Mortal sin. Basically all of Sup Forums is calling people niggers ironically or unironically.

>the bride of christ, the catholic church.

Venial, but take every sin as if it is mortal.

ah ok, trying to figure out what to mention in confession.

Everything you feel guilty about and that you recognize as a sin

It is in fact considered a mortal sin. However it depends on circumstances, for example if you are addicted to masturbation then your culpability is lessened. However it is grave matter.

The ID says it all

Catholics aren't Christian

Proof? Got my debating pants on.

>Proof?
Only the saved are Christian. False religions that deny Christ alone as savior and teach works-salvation are satanic.

What percent of catholics are true believers and actually apply and live like the bible says. Most of the ones I have met are Christian in name only. Drunks that don't care about sinning because they know they can say a few hail marry's and be good. It's a real stumbling block for me to consider catholicism, seems like 90% of its adherents don't take it seriously.

Also, do such lax catholics get to heaven if they led a life of sin but a priest dunked them as a child?

>James 2:17 - "faith of itself, if it does not have work, is dead."

>Verse 24 James - "See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone."

>"For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead" (2:26).

Also get a load of this guy, I bet he hasn't even read through the Church Father's letters.

>What percent of catholics are true believers and actually apply and live like the bible says.
Cannot say unfortunately.

>Most of the ones I have met are Christian in name only.
Luke-warm Christians plague most denominations.

>Drunks that don't care about sinning because they know they can say a few hail marry's and be good. It's a real stumbling block for me to consider catholicism, seems like 90% of its adherents don't take it seriously.
If you want to find other Catholics that take their faith seriously. May I suggest looking into Churches that offer latin mass in your area?

>Also, do such lax catholics get to heaven if they led a life of sin but a priest dunked them as a child?
Only God knows. We can pray that they get into heaven despite all their sins and the repetition of them. But if they aren't contrite at heart and genuinely trying to improve on their sins for Christ, I doubt they will inherit the kingdom of Heaven.

Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not the high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Are you a Catholic or want to join? What's your problems?

IN context:

Take Up Your Cross
…26What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 27For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done. 28Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”…

Faith.

>Catholic Sup Forums is a unique thread
No, it isn't, there's lots of shitpost threads. These ones aren't special just because you make them every fucking day.

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Blessed Pentecost to you, user! I love that you shared a picture of the great venerable Fulton Sheen. Every one of his old videos is a treasure.

Well no not exactly, you can hold to that but there were church fathers that held to just about every Catholic Doctrine you can think of Peter the rock of hte Church/Pope of Rome and the prayers to the saints, ascension of Mary and purgatory while simultaneously holding to Sola Fide. There are a number (how many I'm not sure) that did hold to it.

Very well said. Icki wikiji kalaki midna tnansk toamds

This was a really funny thread.

Many of the Jews settled in those parts have been brought to the font of baptism more by force than by preaching. Now, I consider the intention in such cases to be worthy of praise, and allow that it proceeds from the love of our Lord. But I fear lest this same intention, unless adequate enforcement from Holy Scripture accompany it, should either have no profitable result, or even (which God forbid) the loss of the souls which we wish to save should further ensue. For, when any one is brought to the font of baptism, not by the sweetness of preaching, but by compulsion, he returns to his former superstition, and dies the worse from having been born again. Let, therefore, your Fraternity stir up such men by frequent preaching, to the end that through the sweetness of their teacher they may desire the more to change their old life. For so our purpose is rightly accomplished, and the mind of the convert returns not again to his former vomit. Wherefore discourse must be addressed to them, such as may burn up the thorns of error in them, and illuminate what is dark in them by preaching, so that your Fraternity may through your frequent admonition receive a reward for them, and lead them, so far as God may grant it, to the regeneration of a new life.

- Pope Gregory the Great

Whosoever will candidly consider each particular, will recognise the greatness of the gifts which were given by him. For from him have sprung the priests and all the Levites who minister at the altar of God. From him also [was descended] our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh. Romans 9:5 From him [arose] kings, princes, and rulers of the race of Judah. Nor are his other tribes in small glory, inasmuch as God had promised, "Your seed shall be as the stars of heaven." All these, therefore, were highly honoured, and made great, not for their own sake, or for their own works, or for the righteousness which they wrought, but through the operation of His will. And we, too, being called by His will in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding, or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. - 1 Clement to the Corinthians

RENAEUS having enquired why the Law was ever given, seeing that Paul declares it to be injurious: S. Ambrose replies that it would have been useless, had we kept that natural law which is written on our hearts, and is found even in infants; but that, this being broken, the former became necessary, that it might take away all excuse by its manifestation of that sin which was afterwards removed by the grace of Christ.

Beginning of the Letter -
Greatly, it would seem, have you been moved by the lesson from the Apostle, having heard read to-day, Because the Law worketh wrath; for where no law is, there is no transgression. And therefore you have thought fit to ask why the Law was promulgated, if it profited nothing, nay rather, by working wrath and bringing in transgression, was injurious....Now the world becomes guilty before God by the Law, in that all are made amenable to its prescripts, but no man is justified by its works. And since by the Law comes the knowledge of sin, but not the remission of guilt, the Law, which has made all sinners, would seem to have been injurious.....
But when the Lord Jesus came, He forgave all men that sin which none could escape, and blotted out the handwriting against us by the shedding of His own Blood. This then is the Apostle's meaning; sin abounded by the Law, but grace abounded by Jesus; for after that the whole world became guilty, He took away the sin of the whole world, as John bore witness, saying: Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Wherefore let no man glory in works, for by his works no man shall be justified, for he that is just hath a free gift, for he is justified by the Bath. It is faith then which delivers by the blood of Christ, for Blessed is the man to whom sin is remitted, and, pardon granted.
Farewell, my son; love me, for I also love you

Saint Ambrose

tertullian.org/fathers/ambrose_letters_08_letters71_80.htm

tell him that I have long been considering with myself about the case of the Angli; to wit, that the temples of idols in that nation should not be destroyed, but that the idols themselves that are in them should be. Let blessed water be prepared, and sprinkled in these temples, and altars constructed, and relics deposited, since, if these same temples are well built, it is needful that they should be transferred from the worship of idols to the service of the true God; that, when the people themselves see that these temples are not destroyed, they may put away error from their heart, and, knowing and adoring the true God, may have recourse with the more familiarity to the places they have been accustomed to. And, since they are wont to kill many oxen in sacrifice to demons, they should have also some solemnity of this kind in a changed form, so that on the day of dedication, or on the anniversaries of the holy martyrs whose relics are deposited there, they may make for themselves tents of the branches of trees around these temples that have been changed into churches, and celebrate the solemnity with religious feasts. Nor let them any longer sacrifice animals to the devil, but slay animals to the praise of God for their own eating, and return thanks to the Giver of all for their fullness, so that, while some joys are reserved to them outwardly, they may be able the more easily to incline their minds to inward joys.

-Pope Gregory the Great

Our fathers did not think killing in war was murder.

Saint Basil the Great

Is it a mortal sin or not?
The catechism says that it is, but "culpability can be lessoned" if it is from force of habit. But why does that only apply to the sin of masturbation? It's ridiculous.
Is lust a mortal sin? Is anger a mortal sin?
Christ himself said that those sins were as bad as adultary and murder respectively. But does any amount of lust or anger constitute a mortal sin? How much lust or anger do you need to feel?
It seems like every single person in the Church has their own idea of what a mortal sin is. So why take any risks?

I very rarely recieve the Eucharist these days.
I only recieve it on the days when they have mass immediately after confession. But there is always an hour gap between the start of mass and confession, so I need to be in intense contemplation for that long to avoid commiting a mortal sin. But it is exhausting.

I wish the people in this church would be more clear about things.
I hate the ambiguity.
Until I can see a consensus, I may as well avoid taking the Eucharist.
Why risk desecrating it?

Guys, how are you handling this Pope?

It's about lusting after women. So if it's anime it's not a sin but you should wash afterwords. This is based off of Torah and Jesus's Sermon on the Mount

>archive.4plebs.org/pol/thread/125637346/#125637346

Masturbation is a mortal sin regardless.

Remember High Priest Caiaphas crucified the Lord Jesus Christ, and YET Jesus Still affirmed his office and authority as being established by GOD. And the same goes for King Abner, a son of David.

No it's not silly goyim. Know the intent of ht elaw, the mortal sin is the lust of adultery

This is Apostle Saul his letters in the bible all go like this

DEAR GOYIM....

Anyways I know that Sola Fide is a touchy issue but the Catholic Church can't just tell any fucking goy this off the bat because theyll fucking abuse the shit load out of it and that's in Jude and 2 Peter and James. saint Ambrose is one of hte most reverred men of the Church and a Doctor of the Church he also told the Roman emperors what to do.

You don't have to hold to sola fide I'm saying you do but it's there if you an autist about it.

Well I'm out for the day. If you want this thread to continue then it's up to you.

Reposting because this is a severely underrated event

>Forty years ago today two human beings changed history by walking on the surface of the moon. But what happened before Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong exited the Lunar Module is perhaps even more amazing, if only because so few people know about it.
>Buzz Aldrin took communion on the surface of the moon.
>The background to the story is that Aldrin was an elder at his Presbyterian Church in Texas during this period in his life, and knowing that he would soon be doing something unprecedented in human history, he felt he should mark the occasion somehow, and he asked his pastor to help him. And so the pastor consecrated a communion wafer and a small vial of communion wine. And Buzz Aldrin took them with him out of the Earth’s orbit and on to the surface of the moon.
1/2

>He and Armstrong had only been on the lunar surface for a few minutes when Aldrin made the following public statement: “This is the LM pilot. I’d like to take this opportunity to ask every person listening in, whoever and wherever they may be, to pause for a moment and contemplate the events of the past few hours and to give thanks in his or her own way.” He then ended radio communication and there, on the silent surface of the moon, 250,000 miles from home, he read a verse from the Gospel of John, and he took communion. Here is his own account of what happened:
>“In the radio blackout, I opened the little plastic packages which contained the bread and the wine. I poured the wine into the chalice our church had given me. In the one-sixth gravity of the moon, the wine slowly curled and gracefully came up the side of the cup. Then I read the Scripture, ‘I am the vine, you are the branches. Whosoever abides in me will bring forth much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.’ I had intended to read my communion passage back to earth, but at the last minute [they] had requested that I not do this. NASA was already embroiled in a legal battle with Madelyn Murray O’Hare, the celebrated opponent of religion, over the Apollo 8 crew reading from Genesis while orbiting the moon at Christmas. I agreed reluctantly. …I ate the tiny Host and swallowed the wine. I gave thanks for the intelligence and spirit that had brought two young pilots to the Sea of Tranquility. It was interesting for me to think: the very first liquid ever poured on the moon, and the very first food eaten there, were the communion elements.”

Okay back for one more thing I mean King AHAB not Abner.

And upon this Rock I will build my Church... the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Come back to Christ's community and rid yourself of the Protestant disease that has given rise to Zio Christianity and all manner of other diabolical heresies.

There are is only one holy and apostolic Catholic church.

dibs to my Orthodox brothers who are in error but remain a branch from the same tree.
