How come American culture was much more optimistic in the 80's!

How do we restore optimistism to America culture and restore American exceptionalism Sup Forums?

Less tax assfuckery is a good start

30 less years of societal rot caused by cultural Marxism and critical theory

Blacks were dying from aids.

Because:

-It was still mostly ethnically homogeneous
-Extremely Christian
-Run by the greatest generation
-Internet/social media didn't exist
-Jews hadn't yet taken control of everything
-Growth caused by migration and neoliberalism had begun, but the negative social and cultural effects hadn't fully seeped in yet

Because America was more white back then. Feminism hadn't gone militant yet and there was no immigration crises happening. Just look at all the movies made in the 80s and see for yourself. Everyone is white, whites still had a strong culture.

80s America was the zenith of white civilization. We'll technically 1950s America was but everything didn't really start to fall apart until early 2000s.

I'm sorry chilebro, but Eurythmics were from England, and OP's topic is about American culture which revolved around shitrock (see OP's pic) not good music from Europe.

>Van Halen
> shit rock

Neck yourself my man

As someone that grew up in the 90s I can say for certain that society has gotten worse. Everyone thought technology was going to improve everyone but all it really did was separate us.

Back when I was a teen I remember calling friends on the phone and meeting girls irl. The internet wasn't the degenate sideshow that it is today. Even early 2000s internet was mainly used for chatting with friends on aim or MySpace. Porn was just regular porn and hadn't been hyper racialized yet. Back then you were thought of as a weirdo if you looked at porn.

What's really strange is what happened to social networking, Sometime after Facebook killed MySpace the instagram and tumblr phenomenon took off and everything became more intense and less playful.

lol christian meme

Fuck Christianity

Everyone gets a free Trans Am!

Why?

Not involved in war since Vietnam

Pre-9/11

The pop culture and media was fucking godly

DId 9/11 really shake up Americans that bad until this day ?

Edgy retards. I'm not even a Christian, but Christianity was the bedrock that American society was anchored to. God and the Church's authority was something everyone looked up to, and something that united everyone outside of their myopic hedonistic pursuits.

Why be good to your fellow citizen? Because God wills it, your community demands it, and it guarantees you eternal reward. What's the fucking point now?

Yes, life is completely different. You would have to have been alive long enough before it happened to notice though.

Cocaine.

>beat me to it

Heavy Metal?

What changed except massive islamphnobia post 9-11 American culture ?

tv hadn't gone full retard yet. also cocaine.

Internet happened

Yeah you had some great shit then, both music and movies. Funny fact on iceland last time I was there, it was mostly 80ies music on the radio beside local music ofc

In the 90ies for some reason you came with a lot of depressing music, I turned into a techno head in the later half part

...

Scratch the Christian part (it's bullshit), and add that a young white man could work hard at a trade or profession, and consistently still make a good living, and you'll have a good list.

t. 50 year old

No, it happened before that was widely spread

From
>Booorn in the USA!!!
to
>It's ok to eat fisk because they don't have any feels

That's not a song, you always eat fisk, but you don't sing about it's feels

You're part of the problem - looking back on the past, holding onto it, clinging onto it, not wanting to let it go. If we could only go back, if we could only go back.

Look, you need to turn around, tighten the chinstrap on your helmet - and face the future. We can't go back. The only way through is forward. So march goddamn you.

Man I wish I was a teenager or in my 20ies in the 80ies, that must have been some good tymus

Reaganomics

Why can't young whites still learn shit load of cash through trade school today ?

> tfw young white male become an electrician

Optimism mostly, with a hint of worry. Life before 9/11 was a dream world where nothing went wrong.

Cash is worthless now.

We really parted music taste there in the mid 90ies somewhere, we went techno, trance, goa, partying.

While you did depressing music and pop and boybands. We also did the metals, but I wasn't so into that. Back then it was mostly popular abroad. I lit have met many celebs that are shit popular in part south america, they went
>You know this band?
no
>But is norse!
never heard of it before, what's their real names
>user Anonson and user Anonson
oh yeah those sure, he plays guitar and stuff the first the other one sings I think

meanwhile they were raking in as fug down there and elsewhere, really weird shit. Last time I met one, I knew metal then though I listen to it now, me and and a friend sold an old fender to a famous one who drove from the westlands to buy it. I must admit we had to check him on the kikypedia even. Deathmetal. He was really cool and was named user Anonson too

sigh yeah, except the .com bubble.
But lyfe was sweet and we were only going up, up and up. Except of that crash there

Islamaphobia seems to be diminishing compared to when it happened. Otherwise we wouldnt have allowed refugees in at all (and there would be serious hate crimes and town burnings on them).

No I was born in 82 and I can say the difference is that there was a feeling of... Invincibility for americans. And despite the country being globalized it still felt like it was Our Country, our own little world.

But because of the further expansion of the internet (blogs particularly) and everything since 2008 it feels like it isnt even a First World country anymore even though it still looks like one.

It feels eerily dangerous to live here. Not because of muzzies, not because of gangers. Maybe a tiny bit because of police I will say that.

But because your Job is not safe. Your Home is not safe from being lost. Your food costs more.

You cant expect to buy a house and lay down roots for the next 30-50 years, in fact you may have to get another job, in another city and leave. Because thats how you work your way up now, nobody gives you Raises anymore.

Thats another one too is the crash of 2007, aside from competition, success was something you could reasonably achieve if you kept focusing on it.

Now the prosperity of the country is gone, and its a roll of the dice if you can even make it into a successful career.

And likewise... your Job in that career may not be safe.

Nobody is safe from losing their Job, even if they have a job-job with benefits.

Back in the 80s... 90s... you could shoot the breeze and throw paper airplanes across the office. As long as you didn't fuckup, you could expect to make it to retirement, or work your way halfway up the corporate ladder.

youtube.com/watch?v=MnpWGVtRwmM

It captured the feeling.

Probably because boomers were in their prime, really stupid, and could buy property for pennies. They all (provided they put in an effort a retard could pull off) got to taste a bit of the high life

>Buy beer from a chink-owned 7-11 when you're 13 and nobody gives a shit.
>Don't need a condom unless you're mentally ill ("gay").
>Drive drunk, cops just make you pour out beer on curb, follow you home so you "arrive safely."
>Girls had bush.
>Fat stacks of porn (Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse) hidden under mattress.
>No numale fashion dilemmas: Wardrobe consists of Levi's 501's, Chuck Taylor All-Stars and Lacoste polos (w/popped collar).
>High school lot full of Camaros, Chevelles, Novas, Mustangs, Cougars, GTOs, etc.
>No internet to waste your fucking life on.
>Cable TV had like 30-40 stations at most...everybody on the same pop culture page.
>Giving kids atomic wedgies is just "ha-ha," not some "felonious assault" bullshit.
>Reagan.

It was a fucking sweet time to be a teen.

look at your time

meh actually I think being a teen or college age back in 1992 was the best damn thing... catching the Grunge/Goth movement when it was at its peak... omg I was so pissed that I missed out on that

Im kinda an /x/ autist so I was into that kinda thing back then. But I was only like 10-12 when Nirvana was hammering and then Kurt died in 1994 and it started killing the grunge movement.

Prior to 1990 I dunno everything just seemed flatter. I expect if you were a teen in the 80s the hot thing would have just been drugs and thats it (and an even higher risk back then of being caught/jailed for it). The 90s added another dimension of coolness to being a teen.

Which then got replaced by Plebdom after 2000, and then Hipster Cuckoldry after 2010.

A lot of this applies here too, they didn't even need degrees. Today everyone does. Often you got education like automation through your work place and even rented shit cheap from them. Then choina happened in 89(?) and they started to move shit down there.

My father has had 1 freaking job his entire life, the same job and he started at 16. He is retired in just a few years. Sad shit is that the factory is a shadow of it self, most is in choina now, which he and people he worked with went down there half a year or so, to set up the factories there.

This be how they do it there, low quality in everything
>So user's father works at a chemical factory
>Produces several chemicals and performs research in many areas.
>They lived the dream
>Goes to choina, try to learn chinks this shit
>But no oy vey, they start to fucking blend out everything with water or whatever to shave shekels....
>In one case my father got in a real argument (they didn't understand each other so it was just by hands and gestures>
choinaman adds to much water into the mix
>user's father get furios and lit pulls the lever
choina man in mao dress pulls it back
>father pulls it back and yells at him
It got real heated and he almost sent him flying out the window, so they were called to office
>choinaman was foreman so it was the bosses
argues as fuck
>keeps on pulling this crap over and over

this is why everything from that shithole sucks ass. Fucking doing research some of them with just a high school diploma(we have one year more than you here and one less in college)

Us today? fuck you need a fucking PhD to be a fucking baker soon

Communism makes for a good boogeyman to unite the burgers against.

THE DAY THE 80's DIED

underrated

Things are different now. I was born in the early 80's and did my growing up in the 90's. As a kid I could take off on my bike and be gone all day and there wasn't a thing to worry about. It was about baseball and going to the swimming pool all summer. There wasn't this sense of impending doom just around the corner. You didn't feel like your government was actively working against your interests. Politicians have always been called snakes, but they had to at least pretend to care about the country, now we're berated as dumb Hicks if we have a problem with being ruled by international bureaucracies. Race relations were a lot better, the white working class wasn't told it's a stain on a progressive society. Kids could fight one day and be best friends the next and dads taught you how to keep your guard up next time, lawyers hadn't yet ruined being a child. School was school, you went to learn, and if you fucked up you payed the price. And they didn't try to medicate little boys everytime they acted like little boys. Yes, it's fucked up right now and no, I don't know how it got this way.

The final nail.

I really hope you aren't implying that communism isn't as bad as we have been led to believe.

Saw it when they came back and he made it a couple shows into the tour before relapsing. 2010 or there about I think

>speaks on behalf of a decade that finished before you were 9 years old

you're actually fucking retarded

Communism is a disease, that's why we can unite easily as a nation to fight against it.

Sorry, I wanted to make sure

Fuck commies.

Legalize Cocaine and Steroids
Get white males making music

pre demoralization.

cocaine....duh!

Individualism>collectivism fellow American.

I'm 23 but I just love 80s culture. Republicanism and heavy metal dominated. I can think of nothing better desu

Best Pantera come at me.

Boogeymen do not exist, communism does - how retarded can you be today, Burger?

Never liked Van Halen. Shit was written for fourteen yer old jerk-offs. You must have been that guy, thinking David Lee Roth was dreamy. You can keep your cock rock.

Fuckin retarded millenials all the fucking time just making up history.

In the 80s we were all positive we were gonna get nuked sooner or later by the commie Russians. And they weren't in the screwed up state they are now. They had "fishing trollers" and subs roaming off the US coast all the time.
No one even imagined the Wall would ever come down or that the cold war would end without an eventual battle between us.

I downloaded Van Halen's discography last week and I did not expect to like it half as much as I have.

You call the boogeyman a communist and we pay for more wars, politicians create the boogeymen and then we kill third worlders somewhere.

>Eddie Van Halen wrote for fourteen year old jerkoffs
This is the best bait, maybe ever, in the history of baiting.

I really wish the edgy teenagers and hipster fags of the 80's could see 30 years into the future and realize what their collective faggotry will eventually lead us to.

Higher testosterone

youtube.com/watch?v=xhcjI2cdJVw

They tried to warn us, in the form of loud destructive music.

>How do we restore optimistism to America culture and restore American exceptionalism

The elites were more afraid of the commies than they were of us, so they tolerated more individual freedom, and paid us better. We also had about half the population we have now, so people didn't feel so cramped. People were more optimistic because life was just better.

>Overkill
Great band

>Scratch the Christian part

Neck yourself boomer, destroying Christianity was the worst of the many terrible things your generation is responsible for
