Mattis lying? Indirect US talks for ISIS fighters to leave Raqqa

>US Secretary of Defense James Mattis told CBS News Sunday night, May 28, that the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist group has "accelerated" and shifted to "annihilation tactics."
>This assertion does not square with the indirect talks the United States is secretly conducting with ISIS for its commanders and most of its operational strength to quit Raqqa, its former de facto Syrian capital, and relocate in Al Mayadeen and Abu Kamal in southeastern Syria.

>According to DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources, the negotiations are taking place between the US-sponsored Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is dominated by the powerful YPG Syrian Kurdish militia allied with Syrian Arabs. As a result, few ISIS fighters remain in Raqqa. This force is American-trained and armed, and fights under the command of US special forces officers.
>The US was motivated in letting these talks go forward by three considerations:
>1. A deal would accelerate Raqqa’s fall with a minimum of casualties for the attackers.
>2. Raqqa’s liberation would leave almost the entire stretch of Kurdish-ruled territory in northern Syria purged of jihadist terrorists. American forces and their Kurdish allies could then go for control of the northern section of the Syrian-Iraqi border. US and Jordanian special forces, combined with an American-trained Syrian rebel group, have been conducting a parallel campaign for the southern section of that border.
>3. If Raqqa can be taken without a battle, the United States can dispense with its Kurdish partners. This would remove a substantial impediment from the path of President Donald Trump’s diplomacy for drawing Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan back from his rapidly-advancing rapprochement with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
>For Erdogan, any boost for the Kurdish cause is a red flag. He is therefore fiercely opposed to their participation in the liberation of Raqqa.
>The negotiations with ISIS have been ongoing for about ten days. They came on the heels of a deal for ending the Battle for Tabqa, a key >Euphrates River town and air base about 50km from Raqqa, by allowing ISIS defenders safe passage to the two Syrian Desert locations, after laying down their arms.
>However, in the case of a deal for Raqqa, the Russians have just thrown a spanner in the works.

>lying dog mattis

This is how you establish green zones so you can push them out. Welcome to Iraq 2.0

This, or the dr orange is lying even to him
this, it'll crash and burn

>According to DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources

Of course why would anyone doubt such an established and verified brand as DEBKAfile and their plethora of military and intelligence sources

they got everything right, from 9/11 to hezbollah you shill, they're known to have sources deep inside mossad and the US state department and congress

Trump gave Mattis & the pentagon full control over the operation in Syria.
Big mistake.

Well well, the military collaborating with insurgent groups and the government to keep the war running, the arms sales going, the cash flowing, and the Israelis a blank cheque to continue fucking about. Who'd have thought that?

/sg/ needs to stay in their containment thread. Sage goes in all fields

ISIS will soon "show up" in Qatar.

>yes ISIS, we'll let you leave the city, just drive along the only highway out of town which leads through this empty desert

Too bad you're not doing that. At all.

This is literal fake news
Debka is israeli

>debka

Sure kid

Not an argument

while I agree this is fake, there's a bit of truth to it.
saudis buy most of the oil ISIS gathers in their controlled territory. which is then bought by US.

Trump literally never said he'd defeat ISIS in 30 days tho

>debka

>muh Trump is so based he will totally annihilate ISIS just like he said he would

still he's dumb as fuck so he probably doesn't even remember saying that anyway, neither does his voters.

Making a plan to defeat ISIS is not defeating ISIS

No making. He said he had a plan! and that he would keep his promises!

this has been going on for a while. About two weeks ago a convoy of issis "escaped" and got their ass rammed in by RuAF. It's a debatable tactic when you consider the amount of care supposedly given to civilians. (air strikes don't seem to need the same level of care)
BTW RU knows about this plan and they are ready and waiting to blow up the convoys

>According to DEBKAfile
this is legit, Israeli intelligence based in Jerusalem is always 100% correct. our greatest ally in the middle east is trying to warn us that Trump and Mattis are trying to screw us

thank you for posting this, we must defeat ISIS and protect our greatest ally in the middle east
