The problem with Franco is that he left no political legacy, his movement was stagnant and easthetically unattractive, they didn't appeal to the youth by projecting an image of strenght and growth, instead they appealed to grannys with an image of weak and passive "good christianity", they were extremely soft on gypsies, they created a fake Spanish identity based on Andalusian traditions such as flamenco and bullfighting (their version) and they basically gave the country to the communists once Franco died because of how soft and weak they were, the return of a traitorous monarchy was the last nail in the coffin of all his mistakes. Overall, his victory in the Civil War was good because it saved us from Communism and probably from a German invasion, but from his position of power he could and should have done much more to prevent Spain into what it became just 30 years after his death, an economically ruined socialist shithole flooded with immigrants (12% of our population are foreigners, not counting the second generation ones born here).
