So this is the map for the upcoming Gulf War that will probably decide which muslim faith - shiites or sunnis - will rule dominant in the future of the middle east. After gathering all info in the last thread and focussing only on powers that will be directly involved (leaving out neutral countries or the ones trying to stay neutral) the map looks like this.
RED: Shia Coalition (backed by Russia) BLUE: Saudi Alliance (backed by USA, Israel) GREEN: Muslim Brotherhood Coalition (likely to side with BLUE if needed) PURPLE: so fucked up they can't act right now / have to react to what happens

Yemen's official government is still a Saudi puppet state, despite all the fighting. And yes the situation for Turkey is very complicated, but if shit REALLY hits the fan they will have to decide between Nato and Russia. I just can't believe they would actually throw Nato under the bus and join the Assad /Iran / Russia coalition.

i'm sure the sunni shia conflict has something to do with this, but this recent chain of events appears to be more along the lines of the muslim brotherhood vs some other polarity(ies) in the muslim world. the coup in egypt a few years ago in egypt was lead by the muslim brotherhood, and eventually the army had to stage a counter coup to remove the MB president, morsi. i wonder if saudi arabia fears a similar coup happening to them and decided to act, or was it prodding from trump during his recent visit. i'm not a big fan of the saudis who were probably partly responsible for 9/11 and who fund wahabi extremism, but the muslim brotherhood is possibly even worse. very interesting times, ahead.
