How did he win in 1997?

For those old enough to remember, how did he manage to win it by a landslide?

I don't know if I'll ever see a Labour majority in my lifetime. Not counting Brown, Labour have only ever had three PMs in history.

THINGS

CAN

>. Not counting Brown, Labour have only ever had three PMs in history.

Are you retarded?

The question you should be asking is why can't the Cons win a majority?

'new Labour' basically hiding the ludicrous spending of their socialist policies until they crashed the economy.

>Not counting Brown, Labour have only ever had three PMs in history.
Kek

What is:
>MacDonald
>Attlee
>Wilson
>Callaghan
>Blair

Blair was incredibly slick. He was basically doing a UK version of Bill Clinton (but ultimately less successful).

ONLY

Don't forget Corbyn

Women and welfare recipients (who should not have the vote) made up his fundamental block of voters. The naive fools who were taken in by his public school charm did the rest.

GET

he lied

The Tories had been in power for 18 years

John Major won in 1992 but had to rely on the Ulster Unionists

Basically - the country was bored/tired of the Tories, and Blair was young & energetic

Blair promised not to be a socialist and voters collectively said "fair enough then"

The British economy was in solid shape in 1997, Labour managed to spend money like a drunken sailor despite tax receipts soaring due to the late 90s boom

And now it's the reverse, and Corbyn has promised to be a socialist.

Funny old thing, is politics.

i voted him in. Because I was young and stupid. After the staid conservative government of Major, he was a breath of fresh air. You have to remember to buy that time, all my life there had been a conservative government with Thatcher before major. So a change was needed.

He was young(ish) and dynamic. certainly more dynamic than the continuous line of old white guys that the conservatives kept on replacing as a leader.

He effectively hoodwinked if not all of us. by spending like there was no tomorrow, and the fucking iraq war.

If I knew then what i did now i would never have voted for these cunts. But I was young naive and stupid i didn't think for myself and all around me from popular culture to comedians on tv the liberal left manifesto was pushed.

Only when i started to think for myself ( thank god for the internet) did i relaise what bullshit there was. Im not so annoyed with the youth of today that votes labour. I understand i was young and stupid once. But these fuckers have the internet, which i didnt.

>And now it's the reverse, and Corbyn has promised to be a socialist.

I think leftwing Labour / Old Labour has an electoral ceiling

Free tuition will pick up the youth vote but scare off normal people with mortgages & pensions

Interesting. With all these youngsters rabidly worshipping Corbyn, do you see some similarities with how it was for Blair's campaign?

2 words:
Rupert
Murdoch

It is well known that Tony Blair did a deal with Murdoch. After that, the newspapers changed their tune in favour of Labour.

The (((media))) shilled for him hard.

And the opposing currents didn't work as well as today because pic related.

if I put myself in their shoes of course. Corbyn ( although not a young or dynamic man) is a difference because he's a man of conviction. He's also offering students the world. Who wouldn't want gimme dats when you are young and have no responsibilities.

He wants to eliminate poverty by helping the poor. Who doesn't want that? IUts only when you are older you realise those in actual desperate need are few. Those who live that way to fleece the system are many.

I don't blame them. no one wants to be Tory boy as a kid. Its only when you see the wider picture, life experience and hard knocks. you grow out of your idealistic ways.

He took advantage of Diana's death and bob's your uncle.

GET

The next government will be a labour majority
