I would say to simply try to avoid women who are lefties or trailer/ghetto trash when looking for something long term, basically to rule out most of the whole welfare carrot. Most women who aren't super poor aren't actually even thinking about welfare as an option, although that could be bias of where I'm from, upper middle class suburbs. Otherwise I do understand your point on hypergamy kicking in, and its happened to me (actually at the lowest point in my life when I needed a companion the most) so I do understand that. It's extraordinarily difficult to answer, and is not an easy thing men have to deal with through their lives. There's the old phrase of course "vanity, thy name is woman". I really don't know, I just think on individual level we should be trying to find someone, because I know for me personally I feel like I need that bond and family structure. I'd die if I didn't get it eventually, but I know one needs to be smart about it.
