The power of nuclear reactors is immense. But can someone tell me what sustainable solution there is to the waste?

Can't we just work on rocket technology and shoot that shit into space when it becomes economically viable?

put it back where the ore was dug up from
the hole is already there

make tunnels in stable bedrock in non-earthquakeous areas like Finland is and let them stay there forever or send all the waste to space

leftist faggots.

Renewable energy is a scam to funnel money.

do what the fucking french do
recycle and reuse as much as possible and dispose of the rest

dump it in israel

Nuclear power is the best solution to multiple problems.

1. Re-use the waste
2. The last

>waste
modern reactors use the waste from the older ones.

nuclear is a massive meme and anyone who says otherwise is retarded

Pay some African country to store the waste.

Explain

Yeah then we get Fukashima x1000 when the rocket an hero's before making it to space

This. Deep boreholes all the way.

Vitrify it, then put it down a deep hole.

...

wait 300 years because thorium half life is tiny compared to uranium

I think the main problem with nuclear energy is that building the plants is really fucking expensive. That and Chernobyl/Fukushima gave it a bad reputation

People are wrongly afraid of nuclear power

Bury it until we come up with a better solution. We have a basically finished long term storage facility under Yucca Mountain that can store the next 100 years-worth of nuclear waste and it's just sitting there unused because of liberal politicians.

Thorium is a meme until someone designs a reactor that can successfully do an in-situ Th232-U233 fuel cycle fission combined with molten salt. Oak Ridge demonstrated half the concept in the 60s, but we're still a long way from a viable reactor design.

There is new reactor tech comming out that is litterally self contained and portable. You can actually retrofit old coal plants with them.

Dump it in Antarctica and tell the hippies to go fuck themselves.

The construction of the plant is actually not too bad in places where they're built efficiently, such as the Koreans in the UAE.

Also newer cheaper designs thorconpower.com/

Actually the bulk of the cost is dealing with all the fucking red tape and legal shit. Power companies have to go through years of bureaucracy and applications and legal petitions and shit to even get approval for building a new nuclear plant, let alone actually breaking ground on one.

In my homestate, Iowa, we have one, single reactor 70's-era nuclear plant. It provides something like a sixth of the grid power for the state. MidAmerican Energy was planning to build a second, modern plant that would have basically paved the way for Iowa to cut some of its coal power and become an energy exporter to neighboring states. It took them five years and something like $80 million in legal fees, surveying fees, design work, etc to just get as far getting *approval* to build a reactor, to say nothing of the $1 billion it would have cost to build it.

Then Fukushima happened and the support for the plant vaporized.

One of the reasons I'm excited about Trump's proposals for US energy infrastructure is that it looks like they'll be gutting a lot of the redundant red tape for nuclear power.
