This will be such a case. He will have either known her, or become aware of her through the internet. It's pretty much guaranteed he lives within walking distance of her. The journalist in the OP is correct for the wrong reasons. It would receive more media coverage if the victim hadn't been a Muslim, because Muslims are only keen to go to the press when the people attacking them aren't their own.
