So, question for everyone. What drew you to Paganism?
Christian Johnson
Hello. And bump.

If there are any unironic pagans that worship gods other than the Norse ones, please make yourselves known. Cause I still have yet to see any. Also, does SurviveTheJive (((know)))? I find most who love their own people's origins do.

It was the faith of my ancestors so I thought it would stop degeneracy, also I'd read the works of people like Simpson and Benoist. My pagan phase lasted around 12 years but I still felt lost, and then it dawned on me that from the perspective of real pagans neopaganism is without merit as it's a reconstruction and will always lack the primordial tradition. Then I briefly studied Hinduism and Buddhism, and finally Shia Islam. Even Varg is drawn to Islam I think, most likely when Islam is more widespread all the neopagans will revert to Islam

Almost wrote a paper about Rodnovery in religious studies class, but the teacher was a retarded fag and only allowed one student to pick a neopagan movement, as if they're all the fucking same. Did Hermeticism instead, which proved quite effective in my path to redpilling.

>Equality of the states citizens under the law (not divided by Gender) That's not inherent in any Western tradition, it was a product of degenerate periods like the French Revolution and Enlightenment. Basically a tenant of Egalitarianism, which is partly why the West is in the mess that's it's in right now >Freedom of Religious expression It's a human right, another degenerate innovation. Pagans never practiced this you know.. >The idea that a Secular state has the right to create and enforce laws, not the religious heads ((Secular)). Yeah same as above, pagans would have been aghast at this concept >Islam promotes slavery, something the jews do too in a different form with their schemes Nothing wrong with slavery, pagans practiced it as well
>Islam is anti-west and is just a very volatile step towards Jewish Control If your definition of 'the West' is resigned to its decadent periods, sure. Don't know how the Jews are involved here, you'd have to explain

Islam is an over-the-top moralistic system designed to keep impulsive low-agency shitskins in line. The solution to the problems of the modern world isn't to adopt a foreign culture brought in by invasive mud people but to make European cultures strong again. I agree with you that secularism, gender equality, etc are major contributing factors to the decadence and degeneration of the modern world, but Islam isn't the only solution, and it certainly isn't the correct solution for Europe.

You mean his ancestors that colonized Iceland and traded with native Americans while Christopher Columbus' ancestors were waving goodbye to their wives and daughters as they were being carted away on Berber coastal raid ships? You mean his ancestors that had accomplished the most advanced and versatile ships for the time while Christians were raping each other in Eastern Europe instead of fighting Muslims because Eastern Europe praised their Jewish overlord in a slightly different way? You mean the ancestors that kicked off colonialism about 400 years too early with their exploration while Christians were busy quarrying roman monuments to build hovels all because Arianist (Christian) Visigoths sacked Catholic Rome and regressed living standards by a Millennium?

>Freedom of Religious expression Yes it was. That's the entire reason Christianity was allowed to survive, because of Rome's religious policy. Certain religious practices were declare to be "CVLTVS" (Wholesome, beneficial, proper cultivation of the spirit) and some were "SVPERSTITIO" (Unwholesome, overly focused on magic, un-Roman, prone to exaggerated effort for no gain). Anything that was declared cultus was fair game for anyone and everyone to practice. The only real thing the Romans were intolerant about was that you HAD to declare the Emperor to be divine in some manner (and all past emperors and future emperors had to be divine). But even that wasn't a hard and fast rule as the Jews were given SIGNIFICANT leeway, albeit for strictly realpolitik reasons (Israel was incredibly strategically important, and it's not like the Romans could just pick the Jews up and move them somewhere else). The Romans integrated many gods into the religious framework and were hilariously accepting of mystery cults. Orphism, Mithraism, Neoplatonism, Isianism, Dionysianism, and the Eleusian mysteries coexisted side by side along with all of the cults of all of the gods from Greece, Rome, Egypt, and everywhere in between.
>secular law The Romans were perfectly fine with secular law as were all pagan Indo-Europeans. I don't get where you're going with this.
>slavery As a matter of secular economics, and look where it fucking got them. The Roman Gods were mute on the subject of slavery and it absolutely ruined the Roman economy. The fact that Islam advocates a practice that destroys societies is laughable.

To hammer in the point about religious syncreticism, here's a bust of Serapis. Serapis was a Greco-Egyptian god whose cult flourished under the Egyptian Ptolemy dynasty. He remained popular right up until Egypt was Christianized, and was often seen as lover of Isis, another god whose cult spread far past Egypt and well into Europe where it syncreticized into the Hera/Juno Mother Goddess system.

Sup Forums don't let this satanist clowns to brainwash you into "paganism".
Norse weren't even "mostly Christian" into the 1400s
>Most Muslim slaving happened after columbus
This is the most retarded thing I've ever heard, Muslim slaving began with Muhammad, and after conquering North Africa, the Mediterranean was completely unusable for trade purposes, and the entirety of mainland Europe was experiencing Muslim slave raids from the coasts, some ships even went as far north as the British isles. Whether it got better or worse after Columbus is irrelevant, it was pretty fucking bad by the tenth century and it only got worse from there. Christians didn't discover North America until long after pagan nords had settlements on Greenland and were engaging in trade with natives in Newfoundland
James Hall

>be Christfag >use stone architecture in Northern Europe >freeze to death in your castle in winter
>be Pagan European, use wood architecture >structures get neglected and deteriorate after the influx of Christian culture >thousand years later an archeologist finds a square of stones underground used as a foundation, digs it out and concludes "aha, there must've been a hut here!" and writes papers about how Germanics only had huts and nothing more intricate despite being the same people who produced the fastest ships, the most advanced navigational methods for the time. Surely these non-nomadic people and shipbuilders had living standards of Africans who never once dreamed a sail!
If you want pagan architecture, think of stave churches, that probably looks most similar to what larger buildings in pagan Scandinavia would've been like, however these buildings were actually maintained/rebuilt so they didn't decay so they're still around.

>Our founder wasn't a child molester! Fucking hell that got me.
Pic Related, Homer, the founder of Western Literature. Here's a good video on why the Illiad (and Ancient Works in general) are still relevant in this day and age. I find it tragic that so many people just shuffle our heritage away as not "meaning" anything in today's society, as if we are somehow more enlightened now. For comparison, the Chinese read texts written over two thousand years ago all throughout school.

Christianity's intention is to facilitate an empathy with communistic thinking. Once communism is accomplished it is no longer required. Remember, communists also purged hundreds of their own leading revolutionaries after coming into power. Why would communists kill communists? Simple, the same reason they kill Christians, they have served their purpose and will only serve to generate alternate factions within a communist nation which is supposed to be ideologically homogeneous.
You're the only one talking about human rights here.
>What? Secularism didn't even exist until a few centuries ago.. Secularists took inspiration from the Greco-Romans, but actual secularism (i.e. in which religion and state don't fall into the same domain) is something new. Yes it did. It ALWAYS has. Surely you're aware of the Sacred vs Profane dichotomy, right? For fuck's sake part of the dichotomy between cultus and superstitio was that cultus was something that DIDN'T dominate your life whereas superstitio wiggled itself into every aspect and lead to you mindless neuroticism like making sure you slaughtered meat correctly or not letting you edit books (Just like Islam commands, coincidentally). To say the notion of secularism is "new" is absurd. Cicero and Cato both talked about secularism and the need to understand that the gods don't give a shit about every little thing you do or even what we would today refer to as outright atheism. The fact that the state has divine precedents and heritage is irrelevant to the notion of not everything being directly commanded by said divine.
>Are you a Romaboo or something? Loads of pagans practiced slavery, including the Spartans What fucking part of
>As a matter of secular economics, and look where it fucking got them. The Roman Gods were mute on the subject of slavery and it absolutely ruined the Roman economy. Did you not understand? Slavery DOES. NOT. WORK. It destroys societies and has lead to the moral degeneracy, economic ruin, and eventual conquest/collapse of every society that has practiced it, from China to Rome to the Middle East to Central Asia to the American South.
Matthew Baker
Fedoras need something to belong to, now that being simply atheist has such a stigma on it. They could have picked something less stupid though, like Talmudic Judaism. Paganism is just Talmudic Judaism, but irrelevant.
Caleb Wood
>Norse weren't even "mostly Christian" into the 1400s You can't just change history to fit your bullshit. Iceland officially converted around 1000 AD, it was becoming obscure then and became practically extinct long before 1400. >This is the most retarded thing I've ever heard, Muslim slaving began with Muhammad The slave trade you specifically mentioned occurred between the 16th and 18th centuries. Yes, slavery was always a practice among muslims, but it was not until then that wide spread slavery happened against Europeans. It was the vikings raping and enslaving Europeans during the middle ages >Christians didn't discover North America until long after pagan nords had settlements on Greenland Leif Ericson discovered North America a few decades after Greenland was settled. Funny enough, some of the surviving ruins and many of the records of Greenland were from a Church. >were engaging in trade with natives in Newfoundland ...which didn't occur until Leif Ericson, a Christian, went North AMerica.
Connor Scott
>Christianity's purpose is for communism >this is what pagans delude themselves into believing >Paganism has fucking zero impact in current politics, fucking ZERO political impact Lol, pagans won't even try to deny this.
Mason Parker
>atheist has such a stigma on it What fantasy land do you fucking live in? Do you not understand outside of Sup Forums atheism is still fine. The only reason I came to paganism is because Christianity is foreign religion. It is not from our people therefore it doesn't belong to here. You non-whites will never understand.
Jason Lopez

Paganism has plenty of political relevance. Indian and Japanese politics are dominated by it. For fuck's sake Japan's Prime Minister is a member of an organization that wants to (re)recognize the Emperor of Japan as divine.
You're talking to a guy who will defend to the death that Christ wasn't Jewish and that Jew's were somehow bastions of morality and decency before the Talmud was written. Living in a fantasy land is part and parcel of being a LARPer.
A text that needs to be re-introduced into our culture. One of many.
Kayden Morris
>officially
You mean the leadership was catholic. For centuries after that they were having to intercede in pagan festival celebrations among the populace, who were still pagan. Pagan poetry was still being produced in the 1400s, you are retarded.
>the slave trade you specifically mentioned occurred between the 16th and 18th centuries
Europe was being raided for slaves before the tenth century, both by land from raiding parties traveling from Iberia, and by sea from North Africa/the Levant. Berbers were taking slaves by ship long before the Barbary slave trade era.
Easton Turner
I hope Japan recognizes their emperor as divine. Restore State Shinto!
Jayden Sanders
You're thinking of secular ethics, which is distinct from political secularism. The Roman Empire was most certainly not a secular state.
Slavery worked sometimes, other times it didn't. For the Ottomans it worked just fine

You retards larping as pagans go kys please. Fucking retards. Christianity is the TRUE religion for Europe, it is so strong empires fall for it. You all deserve to die. Glory to Christ, glory to emperor constatin of the roman empire who found christ and became stronger. HAIL CHRISTIAN EUROPE.
Brandon Garcia

Christianity itself is literally a Jewish invention, and if it wasn't part of the identity politics of being right-wing then nobody over here would be Christian except the few Orthodox and Catholic dudes.
Austin Turner
Shinto has some interesting aspects, I'd personally like to try Takigyo.
Angel Ward
>You're thinking of secular ethics, which is distinct from political secularism. The Roman Empire was most certainly not a secular state. No I'm not, I'm thinking of secularism, the notion of a separation between religious and non-religious matters. This has absolutely nothing to do with the state, we're talking about law here. A law created by men, acknowledged to be created by men, for purely material and secular purposes and explicitly noted as not being religious is by definition secular.
>Slavery worked sometimes, other times it didn't. For the Ottomans it worked just fine No, it never works, ever. It was horrible for the Ottoman economy and was part of why Europe eventually became ascendant over the Ottomemes despite them being a vast empire controlling the Silk Road and Europe being a bunch of kingdoms at the time. The Ottomans went from the greatest threat known to Christendom to being the punchline to a joke because their economy was a fucking shitshow for the exact same reason the Roman economy turned to feces and the American South's economy turned to feces: Slavery and wealthy aristocrats owning vast amounts of slaves and using them to reduce the cost of labor below that which a free man could survive on.
Zachary Cooper
Yeah if you're white dont. Shinto is only for Japanese, but I want state shinto to be restored there.
