From what I've read about Northern Italy is one of the wealthiest areas in all of Europe with a GDP per capita nearly on par with Switzerland. Southern Italy is very far behind in just those terms and is pretty poor, not like Eastern Euro-tier but below Spain's GDP per capita overall IIRC.

From rome and south is the real italy. Northern italy is not even real, its more like south switzerland or east france. They are not Mediterranean peoples. The only cities in Italy which still have an actual defined people - and not just a mass of slobbering brainwashed mouthbreathers - are in the South or in Sardinia. That being said, the North is still generally beautiful if you go to smaller towns\paesi, and the northern regions are the ones with the most right-wing governors.
