Something similar happened to me as a kid. My Mum was terrified of airplanes, and whenever one flew over she'd always tell me bad things about them. She'd tell me they would somehow kill me, whether it was dropping bombs, shooting me up or just crashing into our house. So obviously as a kid I ended up terrified of planes. But it wasn't genetic, it was just my Mum being a cunt.
