Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage.
What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

There's been a lot of numbers thrown around. It's nothing really related to the ideas of communism, but the biggest two objections are the gulags, which was essentially the prison system adopted from the old imperialist system and eventually done away with and the two years of starvation. Granted the two years were awful. I don't know how a drought itself can be Stalin's fault, but the fact is that the state decided that they needed to industrialize as fast as possible to defend themselves, so they imported from Ukraine, which is where the genocide accusations come from. It was a pretty messy feudal situation with political resistance and after collectivization of the farms and industrialization were set into place, you didn't have the same famines every 2-3 years, so maybe it's more accurate to say that while it's brutal in retrospect, maybe it actually saved lives in the long run. Food was eventually imported to help the starving. It's a pretty bad situation, but communism doesn't necessarily lead to it, it was just Stalin's shift from feudalism to full blown socialism, which was a pretty messy process. Agree with it or not.
