From what I gather, it happened but not quite like they want people to imagine it.
Most camps were not extermination camps. Most prisoners died of sickness or starvation. Most of the deaths happened on Soviet territory (possibly as they retook it). The war crimes of the Soviets were buried while the war crimes of the Nazis were exaggerated. At the time, the allies were still hoping they might get along with the Soviets. And they needed to demonize the Nazis more as they were going to assimilate them. There was a "denazification" process they had to justify to the people (their people in particular). It's called "atrocity propaganda" and it's pretty much always done.
None of this matters much to me though. But it's interesting. It's generally foolish to think of wars in terms of "good guys" and "bad guys".

Let's say Hitler was burning jews for all 6 years of ww2 (39-45) and 6 million were killed. That gives us a scant 52,560 hours for the killing of 6 million jews or about 114 per hour nonstop.
Assume all 7 (((death camps))) are working perfectly, that gives us 16 jews killed per hours in a nonstop cycle. But these camps did not operate all 6 years of the war.

Russia killed 30 million via brutal starvation. Then they go and accuse their greatest military rival of the same thing, providing ample details and pictures of starving people. One must wonder if they used the evidence and experience of their crime against humanity to frame the nazis for a war crime.
At the very least, considering the Holodomor and similar events, nothing Russia says about "what they found" can be considered evidence for the holocaust. So you're left with inconsistent and confused testimonials from jews themselves, the few typhoid victims the Allies found, and not much else.
Did the germans round up jews and put them in camps? They sure did, but unlike the USA and its japanese citizens, germany actually had good grounds to round up the jews as they had attempted a bloody communist revolution in germany in 1919 that left 50,000 people dead. It deserves a second look, at the very least. Also, the world needs to remember that communism killed at least 70 million innocent civilians. Nazi Germany killed 400,000 jews that were probably collaborators with the butchers of Russia.

There are reports of trains full of jewish people just reached Austria or Switzerland. But the local police give them over to the nazis, which moved them then to the camps.
Why feed and care about people you don't like? Why not just let them pass, go away? During war times resources are critical. Wouldn't it make MUCH more sense to let them all run away? Why even building up 20 or 30 camps (besides for slave working)? Pogroms could be quite "cheap", just point them to the next border. But NONE of the documentation shows that. To the contrary, the most despicable humans where int he SS higher ranks and send to the camps. And when the allied came, they destroyed most of the horrendous camps. There was surely nothing of importance or secret there, just slave labor camps. No need to use heavy duty explosives.

None of it makes sense. It doesn't make sense that in the same year that Hitler speaks to Mannerheim about Soviet military industry being so massive, that they would suddenly begin killing a labor pool of 6 million. It didn't make sense that Yehuda Bauer made up the 5 million goyim that died with Wiesenthal just so the goys would get on board- and it's still being taught. Why is it the discussion of why the Germans were kicking them out in the first place never takes place- it's just hand waved and assumed that the Germans hated their noses or whatever excuse?
