Over the weekend it was revealed that Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, met with a Russian lawyer after the nomination was wrapped up but before the election in November. This is important in and of itself, but what was most interesting was how he responded to this news.
Initially the report was vague on the meeting agenda, and DTJr passed it off as a quick one-off about adoption of Russian children. Then the following day the NYT, having baited the trap, revealed that it was actually about compromising info on Clinton the Russians claimed to have.
That's collusion with a foreign power. It's a jail sentence, and proof that senior people within the Trump campaign actively worked with a hostile country to smear Clinton in order to win the election. Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort were also in the meeting, and seemingly knew ahead of time what it was about too.
Yesterday the NYT stated they had multiple sources who could confirm all this, and the email chain to back it up. DTJr lawyered up at this point.
Then today, after mentioning to DTJr that they were going to drop the emails, he agreed to do so first on Twitter. They do not paint anything he did during that period in a good light.
Then, the Russian lawyer at the center of all this stated on the record that it was the Trump campaign that came to her for Clinton info, not the other way round. This is arguably the most shocking part of it.
TL;DR: Senior members of the Trump campaign actively sought out the help of a hostile foreign power to win the 2016 election, and we finally have proof of it. I wonder how much more there is out there (hint, a shit ton).
