IF YOU ARE LIVING CURRENTLY IN THE UNITED STATES READ THIS POST
Today is the most important day for net neutrality. Whether you're a gung-ho natsoc, GOP or even fucking Democrat and voted for Clinton, it is so incredibly important that you write to your congressman about why you feel net neutrality is important and should be kept. If you somehow do not know what net neutrality is, it's the legislation that keeps your ISP from charging the use of or just outright banning websites from your access. If this is lost, then you can say goodbye to any heated argument you had on the Internet, any political site you might like, and most obviously, say goodbye to Sup Forums. Getting rid of net neutrality benefits absolutely nobody but the management of the ISP companies. That's the management, not the lower rung, so don't give me that shit about more jobs because it's just flat out false. Why today? Because today might just be the last day anything this big can be organised, we saw how SOPA was halted in its tracks because of the Internet, the same can easily happen here. Thank you for reading.
I would like to apologize on behalf of the fat lazy Americans who can't be bothered with any of this, and when it goes through they still won't do anything.
Have a wonderful day.

Net neutrality is a fucking lie. The current system doesn't protect an open internet and the proposed changes don't either.
The current rules are written to protect the profits of companies like Google and Netflix The proposed changes shift the protection to the likes of Comcast and AT&T. The best result regular users can hope for in the current debate is that the rules get changed. That keeps the two sides fighting and makes it harder for them to turn on us.
Jaxon Nguyen
hey if this does happen will Sup Forums allow proxies from the usa, or will this not help either?
Tyler Rogers
That's not gonna help in the slightest.
Nolan Johnson
>They're totally gonna start charging to visit the web!! >$9.99 per click--no kidding guys!! >Sup Forums will be gone forever >we've gotta do something! Net neutrality!
I don't for a second believe they will limit our uninterrupted access to the porn/purchasing/brainwashing service that is the internet.
Everything is compromised, even Sup Forums et. al The internet was Armanet before anything.
I hope I'm never able to visit Sup Forums again. I hope everyone has to stop using the internet. I hope the entire world returns to a pen-and-paper system. Not memeing.
Adrian Torres
As weird as it is to say, I trust Google and Netflix more than the isp niggers
Benjamin Sanchez
Then you're actively helping to destroy your own goal.
Kevin Cox
Explain. I just don't buy any of this shit. The internet is a tool of control, it would be totally against ((their)) interests to suddenly prevent people from buying shit online and scrolling for hours through meaningless advertisements and brainwashing porn.
WHY WOULD ((THEY)) DO IT, BRITAIN? EXPLAIN TO ME. I WENT TO BURGER SCHOOL.
They wouldn't care until it hurts their wallet, but the only way you can hurt their wallet is by not using the internet at all and that's not plausible. You don't have much choice in the US when it comes down to ISPs.
Justin Green
What makes you think they wouldn't keep the porn/shopping sites and block "problematic" ones
hopefully Sup Forums can be unanimous on this, and not disagree with it just to be ironic or edgy. Just this once.
We've had what is basically a 100% privatized ISP market in the U.S. since the internet has been around. It has failed us. Consumers here typically only have one or (rarely) two choices for internet in their area, due to severe monopolization. Once an ISP takes over an area, they have little to no incentive to improve speeds or upgrade hardware.
It is holding us back. The U.S. is one of the slowest nations in the world in terms of endpoint bandwidth. I firmly believe that the the internet needs to be regulated just like power or water in communities. It is a human right, and some corporation should not be able to determine what speed you get, what you get to see online, and when you get to see it.
As much as I hate agreeing with liberal faggots, and companies like Leddit, they're right on this one. (((internet service providers))) will get way too much power if we let them.
Tyler Rogers
I think it's pretty clear that they can/will throttle or block anything with a dissenting opinion.
Sure do. I'm about to walk into a store and buy top grade weed without any red tape associated. I deserve it.
Blake Smith
You're implying any sites are "problematic."
They need Sup Forums to continue existing because
A. Most of the "subversive" material generated and distributed here is disinformation designed to thwart real political movements
and
B. They use these places to monitor us and use the data for social engineering purposes.
It's worth more money to ((them)) to keep the internet "free."
Do you honestly think they'd prefer you to NOT use the internet? They want you and me to turn our eyes to goo looking at this stuff, not be outside physically organizing friends and community members.
Christopher Hernandez
...
Benjamin Torres
>As much as I hate agreeing with liberal faggots, and companies like Leddit, they're right on this one. (((internet service providers))) will get way too much power if we let them. This.
Julian Cox
BECAUSE "THEY" ARE IN THE CORPORATIONS YOU'RE SO FUCKING WILLING TO GIVE THE BIGGEST TOOL EVER INVENTED SINCE FUCKING ELECTRICITY FULL CONTROL OVER. Are you seriously so fucking naive that you think people are just gonna stop using the Internet if this passes? The Internet is absolutely vital to so many parts of life and work, and "they" know it and want to skim as much as humanly fucking possible, nobody can just stop using the fucking Internet forever because that is literally impossible.
Aiden Price
Undoubtedly, but we already don't have access to these places on the "free" web.
Sup Forums, arguably filled with the most "dissenting" opinions, will never be shut down--it is a honeypot.
Reddit, facebook, Sup Forums--whatever websites we even use are all just to gather data, sell us shit, and use our data for future social engineering and A.I.
Jaxon Nelson
Where did all these NN shills come from? NN was nothing more than a FCC power grab that does nothing to solve the underlying problems with US ISPs. In fact it would make it worse by turning corporate ISPs into de facto monoplies regulated as public utility.
William Sanders
>B. They use these places to monitor us and use the data for social engineering purposes They don't need to monitor if they control all of the content and can suppress any and all dissent.
>Do you honestly think they'd prefer you to NOT use the internet? It's not an attack on the WHOLE Internet, just the parts they don't like. The goal is to have more control. It's some shit right out of 1984

>The parts they don't like
Okay, I'm arguing with children.
THE INTERNET IS NOT A SAFE SPACE YOU RUBES. THERE IS NO PART THEY DON'T "LIKE." THERE IS NO PART THEY DON'T CONTROL OR ALREADY MONITOR.
I will eat my words if this passes and I have to start paying for the internet, but ultimately I know that Americans would rather not use it than pay for it.
I just don't see how this could possibly be feasible for them to start charging every single internet user. It is a mind-numbingly tumblr-tier stupid plan.
Jacob Brown
So it IS someone actually sitting there scrolling through shitposts for hours. That's amazing.
Aiden Perez
AHAHAAHHAAHAHAH XDDDDDDDDDDD

if your ISP blocks or charges for the sites you want to use why not just change to another ISP? A bigger concern for me is that the Government in the UK can tel ISP's to block sites which is utter bullshit

Hudson Gomez
They're not gonna make it impossible to access you muppet. The fact is because it's so vital they know they can charge an arm and a leg more to users it because nobody is gonna say no because they fucking can't.
William Peterson
The use of scrapers, bots, or other automated posting or downloading scripts is prohibited. Users may also not post from proxies, VPNs, or Tor exit nodes.
I don't. ISP are just greedy vultures. Google and Netflix are greedy moralizing vultures. At least with the ISP I'm sure they're just trying to fleece me. With Google and Netflix, they're trying to fleece me and brainwash me with LGBTBM bullshit.
Dylan Flores
Monopolies exist because of regulation in favor of these companies you double nigger. There is no competition in your area between service providers because the ones who get there first lobby to your local government to prevent any competition from moving in.
Matthew Parker
>but ultimately I know that Americans would rather not use it than pay for it When was the last time you talked to a normal? You think they would survive without their minion memes and twitter? They'll pay anything to get to those.
>I just don't see how this could possibly be feasible for them to start charging every single internet user. It is a mind-numbingly tumblr-tier stupid plan. >they already track and monitor everything but it's impossible to charge users for the things being tracked and monitored.
Charles Long
>They fucking can't
Typical British mentality. This is why there was a revolution.
I guess we'll see, Bong. I think your reasoning is flawed. They want more things to be free--apps, especially. They don't want the internet to suddenly be used by the roughly 15 Americans who'd be willing to pay for it.
Again, I will eat my words if/when this happens as you say. But, honestly, I think a major disruption of the internet is only good for society. The only thing the internet enables us to do is make shekels for Mr. Noseburg on the weekends.
Carter Cruz
>f your ISP blocks or charges for the sites you want to use why not just change to another ISP They all have the same (((boss))), and sometimes you don't have an option in isp
Ethan Lewis
Just emailed that nigga Peter Roskam, my congressman, about it. You guys HAVE to email your congressman.
Brody Garcia
net neutrality is pretext for gov control and censorship net neutrality is regulatory capture play to ossify monopoly power read history of progressive regulation (fed reserve, big pharma, big agri, etc.) it's pitched as gov protecting consumer, but always used as gov erecting regulations to prevent market entry and protect monopolies if you want a free internet, fight against the municipal level laws preventing ISP competition at local levels
Leo Morales
Bump of hope.
Isaac Cooper
>They'll pay anything to get to those
Perhaps true, but there really aren't that many people who could even afford to access the internet as consistently as they do now--even if they wanted to.
Why would ((they)) want less data, less ad revenue, less metric data, less information in general? The internet is more useful to ((them)0 as a free "tool" than as a pay-per-use.
Luke Nguyen
Fair enough, but companies liken Google at least are constantly pushing tech, inventing new shit all the time. Though a lot of it is to promote lbgtqlmnop bullshit. Companies like att only make upgrades and innovations when they are forced to, usually by smaller competitors. They don't give a fuck about actually providing value to customers, just maximizing the profit margin.

No, net neutrality is the take over of internet content by the FCC. It is not a solution and the entire issue is a false dilemma.
The solution is breaking up the ISP monopolies. Not giving the government an ability to censor the internet.
Alexander Morgan
Net neutrality does not benefit us in any way.
Brayden Cox
Fuck you and your net neutrality. I hope Telefonica will sap all your money and make Spain rich.

right, so your options are:
1. remove regulations. This results in ISP's having all the power.
OR
2. Make the Internet a public utility, regulated by the LOCAL government.
Option 2 wins every time. Even if we did away with the lobbyists, it is still very difficult to get healthy competition. Do some research on Municipal broadband user... it is ALWAYS faster, better, and unrestricted.
Jaxson Johnson
That was rude

>say goodbye to Sup Forums No I wont you stupid fuck. I use a proxy to lurk and post and I will continue to use a proxy should my ISP block Sup Forums.
Frankly, I wish all ISPs would begin blocking Sup Forums immediately. The quality of this board would skyrocket as newfags and tech illiterates would be at a loss. That will teach you for giving your ISP all your Sup Forums info.
