Let net neutrality DIE

If an internet provider provides lower speeds for this site, then obviously you'll switch providers, it's a free market. net neutrality means they can't block sites, they can't provide favor to websites: guess what that means? They HAVETO provide favor to ALL sites, and guess where that favor is left to, you? no, not you. SAM. this goes way deep. furthermore, what do you think happens to all that extra bandwidth small sites don't need? It is bought and sold! from your wallet! This is fairly recent: 2014 was the first "net neutrality" laws and have your internet speeds been ANY better? mines been slower? The internet should not be a public service, I thought you guys were against socialism?

>If an internet provider provides lower speeds for this site, then obviously you'll switch providers, it's a free market.
And what happens if all of them provide low speeds for this site, or block this site altogether?

you arent supposed to think that much

We don't have a free market in the us. Neighborhoods or apartment complexes have isp monopolies and "no competition" agreements that would be collusion in any other industry but are legal because of shitbag lobbyists. Everything about getting rid of net neutrality is disgusting and pandering to the worst type of capitalism, and I say this as someone who likes capitalism for the most part but believes anti-monopoly and collusion laws should remain. Your argument is about the same as saying it would be ok to have an oxygen tax because some people breathe more than others and because you can switch oxygen providers.

Also my internet has never been slow bc I pay for fiber.

yea coz everyone has access to multiple ISPs.... you fucking jew

Sometimes I like to imagine that anti-NN shitposters live in an alternate America where they have an entirely free market and anyone with a few friends and vision can scrape together the capital to start their own ISP with their own rules.

It's fun to imagine, but eventually you have to come back to reality.

>then obviously you'll switch providers
That's kinda hard to do when there's only one.

>Let net neutrality DIE
KYS shill

sage

FUCK OFF SHILL

there are only two isps in my area.
Each have illegally throttled as fuck internet,
and each has a 300gb/250gb bandwidth cap for everything.

THERE IS NO "FREE MARKET"

Then you can create your own ISP instead of demanding that other people's labor should be used how you like it.

you should check out the laws in the u.s. regarding telecommunications companies.
congress made it illegal to create your own ISP because it's 'too difficult' for the average person to understand. we're stuck with corporate monopolies.

the internet takes work to make though, oxygen doesn't. as much as you'd like to think it's like oxygen you could probably live without it. I do agree it's not true capitalism in the states and that the u.s. SHOULD let ANY internet provider be able to come up and offer lower prices in any area, all I'm saying is this: the net neutrality laws, were passed in 2014/2015, this sites been alive since 2003, and has grown steadily, but now since that time, this site, and other sites we like have been struggling to survive, an have been loosing business because they've needed to cut costs by cutting boards and services people like, why? net neutrality.

You getting paid to post this bullshit or do you actually believe it?

If the government didn't allow isp monopolies you would be right.
They need stronger antitrust laws and enforcement for Facebook, google, Apple, Microsoft, news media and isps
Then you could rely on a free market

Watch what gets restricted with current stays quo

This.

I have one one provider.

It is already incredibly slow

Fuck off Shill.

>can't spell losing
>misinterprets my analogy
>lacks intellectual capacity to comprehend basic arguments
>still comes across as arrogant
I was pointing out how retarded your corporate shill argument was. I never said internet was vital like oxygen but was instead saying your argument sucks and here is why.

>If an internet provider provides lower speeds for this site, then obviously you'll switch providers, it's a free market

Except it isn't. 51% of Americans live in an area with access to only 1 ISP. 38% of Americans live in an area with access to only 2 ISPs. This is probably a bait post because you would have to be a complete moron to think that the ISP market in America functions as a free market.

>Requires millions of dollars to lay your own cable
>Existing ISPs have deals with municipalities to block laying of new cable
>If you want to create your own ISP you will spend hundreds of millions of dollars and multiple years in legal battles before you can serve your first customer

No you could allow local loop unbundling and many providers, and allow you to host your own infrastructure in others data centres.

The only thing needed to change is regulation on setting up isps and antitrust.

Europe has half of this right (e.g. Finding Microsoft google and Facebook) and they also allow many isps, but the goverent is starting to regulate them more

Also they can use a form of telecom tax (that the united states invented called ust) to subsidise infrastructure in areas that it's otherwise cost prohibitive.

> you'll switch providers

Stopped reading there, someone with this little understanding of things is not worth responding to.

I don't know how it is in the US but in Germany the ISP is the most monopolized market in existence. You wait 2 months just to get connected. Then half of the time you don't even have Internet but if you dare to do something about it they will probably ruin your schufa because you have been a bad goy.

>muh free market

There is no free market because ISPs have monopolies on the internet. In most places you only have one or two options for internet. If we get rid of net neutrality most web sites on the internet will become slow as shit. I have no problem with current speed of the internet, every site loads almost instantly. If we get rid of it the big sites will load at the same speeds and other sites will slow to a crawl. Internet is currently $70 a month for me, I'm more than happy to pay that so that every site loads fast. $70 is nothing. I don't give a shit if it drops to $55 a month. $15 to cripple the internet? Fuck that shit.

>I thought you guys were against socialism
>Sup Forums is one person

You guys made me angry enough to call century link, and wait an hour for customer relations: it's NOT because they are monopolies, it's because in rural areas telephone lines cost lots of money to build, and in the early 2000's it took a government subsidy to build land lines far enough to even GET to rural areas, and even though we use towers now, those towers still need to be connected by some type of wire. But that still makes me wrong. so this argument is now pointless: we need net neutrality out of necessity, not monopoly.

>net neutrality
>less american crypto-kikes
>less JIDF shills
sounds fine by me, but fee bad about my fellow based white anons

>the one issue Sup Forums unites on

Why haven't you killed yourself? I seriously just don't fucking understand.

Stop shilling, no one is gonna fall for it

It's good if OP is for net neutrality, but if it's sarcasm then fuck off again

What we should also think about is how $70 for your internet in America compared to hilariously cheap gigabit internet in South Korea is a problem. It's honestly just embarrassing.

obviously everybody has access to multiple ISPs and enough cash to create their own ISP,
and you're a socialist if you don't!

oh no
can't have people blocked from this site
whatever will happen to the quality of posts?
poor baby

Fuck you Leaf and go fucking home while you're at it.
