I now understand that Canada still has a long way to go and that racism never really goes away despite our progress. As a homosexual Bosnian Muslim in a long term relationship with a Canadian man (Who has converted btw). I myself was especially troubled. My friends came over to console me today. I was literally in tears. My common law husband cried with me. It was cathartic to be held. My husband teaches at a university and is lobbying the gov to make mandatory tolerance courses a thing.
