Hey guys, I’m with my German grandpa this afternoon. He’s 92 and joined the Wehrmacht in 1943. He has so so so many stories, and he actually loves talking about it.
Ask him some questions, I’ll try give responses to everything. (He doesn’t like too many questions about the Holocaust specifically though)
>He doesn’t like too many questions about the Holocaust specifically though
Why? None of us believe it happened.
Jaxon Hughes
Does he think there's a heavy post_victory propaganda?
Cameron Howard
How did he escape Eisenhowers death camp?

Luis Parker
What did he think of Hitler as a person and as a commander/strategist during that time?
Angel Rivera
Tell him that I'm sorry my great grandad killed some of his bros. Americans got jewed into killinging our fellow white men, and it makes me sad. 1488.
Jose Scott
The best story I ever got from my grandfather was when I asked him what the most bitter sweet memory of his service was. Would you ask him this question?
Nolan Wright
First time he killed someone and what went through his head.
Caleb Howard
How does he compare present-day Germany with Germany 1933-39 before the war?
Tyler Nelson
these are some great stories, OP...oh wait what the fuck is your problem?
Charles Gray
ask him about his fellow soldiers and commanders, what were they like? did they truly hate jews?
Matthew Bennett
Did he fight for Hitler or for himself in the war? If you look at almost all letters that were captured from German soldiers when Stalingrad was encircled most of them expressed a willingess to fight and die for National Socialism.
Ryan Harris
did he kill any slavs?
Jason Price
A 7,92mm, probably
Elijah Hughes
Will OP be a cool dude and deliver?
Or
Will OP be a faggot.

Aaron Campbell
Did he feel he was on the "bad side"
What are his views on Trump
Xavier Evans
I place 2 (You)'s on that OP will deliver if the thread doesn't archive
Liam Jones
Well yeah, obviously. They didnt have any fucking choice now did they? It was either fight to the death or surrender and die in the gulags. A force that cannot surrender or retreat will fight 10 times harder than one that has the option to withdraw. Its not unheard of to purposely not surround an enemy for this very reason.
Jacob Richardson
kill yourself larper
Bentley Gomez
What did he do in the Wehrmacht? Was he infantry? Armor? Artillery? Support?
Who did he fight?
Did/does he believe in the German cause?
What are his thoughts on pic related/Jews?
Samuel Jenkins
I talked to both my grandfathers quite bit. ama I guess
Connor Martinez
Yeah but the letters said that they wanted to fight and die FOR Hitler and Germany because they believed in the cause.
Sebastian Fisher
Ask him if Krup selling guns that couldn't penetrate Panzer armor to non-Germans while Germans got the best stuff was a running joke.
Wyatt Williams
Did he loose his pants in the war? I might have them.
Justin Cox
This.
Zachary Foster

Adam Powell
Tell him that a bunch of people on the internet think that the events of WW2 have been heavily propagandized and exaggerated by the Allies and see what he says.
Nicholas Morgan
reddit is over there
Lucas Mitchell
What did the Germans think of Poles (or Slavs, in general) at the time? What did the state propaganda say?

Jace Ward
I had an AMA like this once.
Did your Granpa ever see somebody killed when passing ammunition shells to load a tank or artillery piece and the shell exploded for no apparent reason?
Wondering if it's the same guy or not.
Leo Rivera
What is the point of this thread? Seriously what was the point in making this thread if you weren't going g to give a single response?
Levi Gomez
>over an hour since OP post >1 post by this ID OP is a faggot
Nathan Cooper
What would he like to see in the world today? What is his advice for the current generation?
William Smith
>1 post by this ID
great thread, OP
My great grandfather served in the SS from 1932 to 1945 when he was killed on the eastern front. He fought with the 1st SS Division "Adolf Hitler" as a tanker until he was heavily wounded on the eastern front and after recovering transferred to the "Totenkopf" division, 3rd SS. He held the rank of Hauptscharführer at the time of his death. He probably would have made it to a higher rank, but he got in trouble a lot from drinking. Highest medal he received was the Iron Cross 1st class. He died in the fighting around Budapest. Obviously I never knew him, but my great grandmother survived the war, and I spent a lot of time talking to her about the war, and till the day she died, she was a firm National Socialist.
>pic related only photo i have of my grandfather, it was sent after the war to my grandmother by a friend because when she fled Germany to come the US, she threw away anything that associated her with the NSDAP and SS. Supposedly someone else in the family has a photo of him not in uniform, but not sure. A lot of the family doesn't like to talk about it, and they know my stance on it, so a lot of them try to hinder my efforts to preserve his memory. AMA
Brandon Rodriguez
Why did the Wehrmacht lose against Russia? Was the german military technological more advanced than the Allies?
Christian Robinson
Did your grandfather have a stroke? Talk to us, OP.
Juan Scott
>What did he do in the Wehrmacht? Fathers father was anti-tank artillery mothers father air force. >Who did he fight? FF the Belgians, French and Russians or whoever the Red Army men actually were. MF against Spanish republicans, British and for one unsuccessful mission Americans. >Did/does he believe in the German cause? FF was a nationalist, but quote: 'Jews shouldn't have been but in camps. If you get tricked it's your own fault for trusting a Jew.' MF was more capitalist and almost pacifist in his youth, fuck commies though. >What are his thoughts on pic related? >What are their thoughts on weird Anne Frank fanfiction. Uhm... >Jews? FF see above, MF never talked about those things.
Jackson Brooks
Not op but my neighbor is 91 and she worked at the Huntsville space station for IBM and GE during the moon landing, should I do an AMA?

Nathaniel Brooks

Grayson Murphy
Your grandpa sounds like a prety cool dude, OP. what does he think of jap cartoons depicting the wehrmacht?
Xavier Myers
God bless your Grandfather and my grandfather. I am sorry they ever had to fight. History shows we should have joined together.
Caleb Reyes
Think OPs nazi grandaddy must have just kicked the bucket...
Gavin Ortiz
no man deserves to be forgotten by his family, only hecause he was on the losing side
Ian Russell
Probably because he knows it's all bullshit and gets immensely infuriated by the fact that so many people believe it. Think of how you'd feel about questions of that nature if you knew it was a massive lie pinned against you and the entire nation you fought for. He probably had friends that were executed after the war based on fabricated war-crimes.
Kevin Watson

Oupa is Afrikaans
Connor Moore
What's his favorite cake?
Evan Cox
His ancestor talks slow, and at length, and takes naps in the middle ;)
Shame on me.
William Jones
Neither of them knew such a thing exists, but one was fascinated by Call of Duty and the Battlefield 2 Forgotten Hope 2 mod.
I will pray for her. I wish I could whisper in her ear "We havent been defeated."
Jeremiah Evans
Do you think any letters proclaiming the opposite would have survived censorship?
Brody James
What about vidya that let you play from the german side without mods, like Day of Infamy and Red Orchestra?
Charles Ross
I have some great pictures for your old man! Show grandpa this, he will love it!
Ryder James
Did he serve near Dresden? Maybe he had some secret romance with qt from there!
Leo Clark
>interested layman military historian
- his unit - which campaigns did he serve in - his tasks - how were relations w/ locals - any partisan contact
Milk him for every information. My grampa died when I was an infant and I just recently found out that he served in the LSSAH.
Ian Parker
What campaigns did he partake in? How did he experience the end of the war? Is he an ethno-nationalist or a civic nationalist? Did he at any point in time consider the war to be lost before it was over? If yes what were/are his thoughts on it being continued regardless?
Ian Campbell
Deeper in Russia "cooler" the war was!
Lincoln Bennett
My grandfather was Gruppenfuhrer in Wehrmacht. He never saw any atrocities claimed by the Allies. He claimed that Holocaust was a lie made by Soviets especially. There were of course, camps and whatnot but they were just for deportation, not for extermination. He died couple of years ago. He was very old.
Nathan Thompson
>Wiemar
Weimar, you fucking Burger. Also, if the man joined service in 1943 he was born in mid 1920s and barely consciously witnessed the Weimar times. It would be more interesting to hear his accounts of growing up in Nationalsocialism because his generation was the Hitler Jugend.
Christopher King
don't you have toilets to clean, you polish mongrel?
Levi Cooper
Wehrmacht gave them oportunity to travel around the Europe. Here - water fun and games somewhere in Italy!
Austin Ortiz
ooh sorry, no foto
Elijah Carter
He's one of the Commie poles, the 1/3 that should look at a mirror.
Don't forget about the right-wind poles that occupy 2/3 [;
