Not to diminish her obvious intellect or achievements but to say that she's the smartest possible mathematician alive when Terence Tao, Shinichi Mochizuki, Vladimir Voevodsky and even theoretical physicists like Ed Witten are still around is just wrong.

That's a wrong assumption. The field of riemanian manifolds and modular spaces is a very theoretical and she combined it with topology and probability theory that also are very abstract. The only difference in her doings were that she seeked beauty and easiness in mathematics instead of straight forward taking on a problem like others. That may also be why she had success and others not. Her comprehension and her methods were simply better.
