The US will be divided into 13 nations plus Mexican land concessions.
The new states will be as follows:

Anglo-American nation along the former US' north east coast.
>Mittlerer Westen (locals can think of better name)
German-American nation in the Rust Belt region.
>Dakota
Multicultural federal state of German-Americans and local native populations. Protections and rights for both cultures and German, English and Dakota will all be national languages.
>Montana
White nation for Spencerfags.
>Central Confederacy
White American confederation of all the meme states.
>Cascadia
White American nation in the Cascadia region. Will include some regions of Canada.
>Utah/Deseret
Mormon theocratic republic.
>Texas-Oklahoma federation
Federal union of Texan rump state and Oklahoma composed of white Americans.
>CSA
White American confederate nation.
>Maryland and Louisiana
Afro-American nations where all Afro-Americans have the choice to emigrate to. Autonomous region for white Americans in Louisiana but whites in Maryland must move to another state.

It's mostly mountains. Sure there's steppe in some parts but most of the "desert" in deseret was in Nevada and Arizona. If you looked at our history you would have put Utah and Nevada together at the very least. The original deseret encompassed most of the south west and mormons wanted that huge territory as their own ethnostate (although they still liked the natives for some reason).

OK, let's start from the top...
-New England's #1 problem right now is that the rural areas are held hostage by the densely populated, liberal cities. What you and everyone else do with a united New England is solidify the cities' power and give them the go ahead to ignore and abuse all their rural areas.
-DC is one of the worse cities in the nation in terms of both people and management. You just handed all of Maryland over to them.
-The Confederate States of America is the only thing you did half-way right, but you cut off Louisiana from them and didn't give them the Floridan panhandle.
-Cutting off Florida was a good idea, but again, the panhandle needs to go to the Confederates.
-Texas and Oklahoma will never get along, even if in a Confederation. Good call on cutting out the southern portion though.
-Mittlerer Westen is going to run into the same problem as New England, but they be able to put the cities in their place with militias.
-The Dakotas and Montana are already too sparsely populated to survive on their own without another nation coming in and annexing them. Either give them to the Central Confederation or at least combine them with each other.
-The Central Confederation is an eyesore and a pain to manage logistics in because of the size. At least everyone in them can get along.
-Cascadia has the same problem as New England, either split off the cities or hand the majority of the land over to Idaho or a Jefferson.
-Deseret independence is a good choice, but restricting them to the current borders of Utah just shows that you have no idea what you're doing in the west. They should have at least the eastern half of Nevada and the northern third of Arizona, but probably parts of Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming as well.
