So essentially here's where I'm at. It's not that Fusion are a front for the Russians, it's that Fusion create news. They work with various interests including Russia, democrats and republicans. They're hired guns who then feed news to outlets who are so stripped for outlets they cannot get the news themselves. It's why the campaign of leaks and anonymous sourced bogus news is peddled by the same outlets against Trump. It isn't the NYT and WaPo digging up this dirt, it's firms like Fusion who have been hired to coordinate the entirety of the news cycle.
Don Jr and Kushner got caught up in a mess with Russian connected folks who were lobbying them to repeal Magnitsky Act, a mess totally orchestrated by Fusion GPS, who at the same time were working with Jeb and the Democrats to commission that Trump Dossier that has fueled this entire Trump-Russia conspiracy. It's not just that they're playing both sides, it's that they are both sides...they create the news we read. For how long firms like this have controlled the narrative is beyond me, but holy christ is that dangerous.
Fusion founder Glenn Simpson essentially fled the country to avoid the senate hearing and has now been subpoenaed. He has already told them he will plead the fifth. There will be no investigative journalism into Fusion as these outlets would never attack the hand that feeds them. I don't know if the real guts of this story will ever be exposed, but I hope it is. It could pull the curtain back and take down a whole bunch of swampers.
