I don't even want her to want me for my looks especially when I foolishly used them to go for the Stacys when I was young thinking they were just "good girls" who looked better than average. Yes, I would say that you should try churches, but keep this in mind: women are not like men, especially not when it comes to philosophy or ideology. Thank you for the response and I can attest to what you say as being true. I even began our first discussion in my most meaningful relationship with the evangelical girl by telling her the truth "I'm not religious" and even though she knew deep down in her heart that was very important to her she continued to talk to me. We eventually met after a month of talking on the phone and literally fell in love the second we saw each other (different states). I moved to her state and our relationship grew exponentially. I don't think we ever took 1 step back or lost our connection. We were each other's firsts and I thought I would marry her. The problem that makes me hesitant of pursuing another religious girl is that she eventually felt like "I'm going to hell" which made her cry incessantly. It affected me deeply seeing her like that, (I would literally come home and she would be crying over me "going to hell because I haven't accepted Jesus".) Her mom loved me but her dad refused to give me his blessings. I would have proposed any way but he told her he would disown her. My family even though they are religious themselves also threatened to disown me for "being a bitch" and not setting them straight. If I could have even half of that connection again and her accept me or at least not cry over me I would be the happiest guy ever. That's why I can't see myself with a non virgin. The love and affection reciprocation was nothing I could describe. If I combined the love I felt from my previous 20 relationships (none sexual) they wouldn't match this one girl.
I worry that I might end up with a crying wife telling me I'm going to hell one day. I also don't want to put the strain on another family again. We literally never stopped loving each other. We didn't stop fighting for each other. It was literally our families making death threats to each other. I would get a call from my gf, "your mom threatened to kill my dad if he ever said anything against you". Then her dad would threaten me. It was basically, either we both disappear and never talk to our families or break up before someone got killed. take into account the second I was getting ready to ring shop, she'd cry over me going to hell. I didn't want to lie to her and I was never an asshole about it (like making fun or contradicting her beliefs if she just said something I didn't scientifically agree with). She probably always believed she could convert me and that's why she kept pushing a subject we clearly didn't agree on. That was the only thing that was ever an issue in the relationship. Well, that's a risk you take when you're open about your doubts. I've discussed some things with my wife of a religious nature, and she's pretty sharp so she can hold her own in a debate, but these are private conversations. We have almost no one in our friends circle or family circle that would be ok with 100% of the things we talk about. That's fine. People shouldn't roll around everywhere in their life just spilling what's on their mind, consequences be damned. Its immature and self-centered to be that way.
That being said, it sounds like her dad leaned on here to leave you. I get a strong feeling she was "lobbied" by strong personalities in her life to break up with you. You can almost always tell then that's why a girl is breaking up with you, they act the same way every time.
I did, but how are you going to keep an adult from doing something. Once one person begins to push the other pushes harder and the next thing you know it's total war. Sad story but pretty common. Family dynamics are nuts. For a lot of people, especially born-again evangelicals, whether or not you're in order religiously is a bigger deal than anything else. Her dad has probably externalized everything in life on the one point of "are you kosher with jesus or not". My wife's dad was that way too, and though I'm catholic, it still caused issues for him, but he didn't have economic control of her so all he could do was talk shit. It didn't matter to him that Catholics are christian, he thinks all papists are going to hell. I had some fun trolling him at our wedding (which he threatened not to attend), about sola scriptura and the doctrine of papal infallibility being similar in scriptural reasoning to scriptural innerancy in Calvinism. Big words make him mad, fun times.
Don't worry too much or consider giving up. This is just how life goes m8. I have a ton of horror stories from the years before I met my wife (we didn't meet until I was 28). I kept trying to find a woman to wife, and all I found was disaster after disaster after disaster. Women are much more vulnerable to the social programming, and its really wreaked havoc on our generation of women. Even women involved in the church to some extent. You have to accept that you're going to have to do some work on whoever you meet, so just worry about looking for someone with a good heart, not too stupid, and respects tradition and loves her heritage in some way.
