Military anons of Sup Forums, what did you learn in the military that civilians should know? Should we know how to make defensible positions? know how much supplies to carry on our person in case of emergency? Should we know basic self-defense? should we know foreign policy well? what should we know?

How to shut up and listen for a bit would be nice.

literally never gonna happen

There's not enough time and space to unload here.

Sup Forums needs you to user please

For the most part soldiers aren't gonna be that great at survival tactics. With the obvious exception in regards to SF or pilots that do the higher level SERE training. The truth of the matter is that logistics wins wars. We have the best logistical chains of any nation. We will rarely lack for food. Our doctrine for warfare assumes we've gained air superiority. Our doctrine calls for number superiority for engaging in a firefight. There's no emphasis on hunting for food or making your own shelter for example. My personal advice is that fortune favors the well prepared. Water is more important than food and its the heaviest thing you'd have to carry in a pack because of its density.

Watch the movie Predator, it pretty much sums it up

Another good thing to learn is that you likely could find a solution to your problem on your own if you put some effort into it. If you have tried nothing and are asking for help you should expect to bumbled around for a while longer till I help.

Basic First aid is more difficult than realized.
That's the first thing you need to know after how to wash your hands properly...

>For the most part soldiers aren't gonna be that great at survival tactics
That's suspect. Not due to military training, but due to the fact that at least for combat arms lots of members have outside training and skill at survival.

I think the number of boy scouts in the military is higher than any other job you might find.

>Basic First aid is more difficult than realized.
>That's the first thing you need to know after how to wash your hands properly...
If you get shot and are a long way from help take some dirt and shove that in your wound. Better than dying of blood loss.

US Marine Infantry. 2 combat tours. 37 gunfights. 2 IED strikes to my vehicle. had a guntruck shot out from under me by an RPG.

>Gunfights suck. Avoid them.
>They take retarded amounts of cardio. No matter how well you are trained and how good of a marksman you are its friggin crazy hard to shoot a guy who is trying to shoot you. Even some dipshit 15 year old with a rusty AK only has to get lucky once to render all the training and equipment moot and kill you.
>explosions arent so cool when youre inside one. Braindamage is the normal outcome assuming amputation or death by dismemberment and shrapnel doesnt happen first.
>unit cohesion, rehersal, and communication are all more important than gear and guns. If you got 50 dudes with the best guns money can buy but no training on how to work tpgether they will get wiped out by 20 dudes with crappy gear but good training.

If a real war breaks out on merican soil yer all gonna die. Well.... most of you anyways. Everyone likes to imagine it as a heroic "everyone but me" deal but the reality is you dont even gotta fuck up or do anything wrong. You just gotta get unlucky once. Americans (and just peoole in developed nations in general) are NOT ready to do the dirty unheroic and downright reprehensible things you need to do to survive.

Even then, survivibg will leave you a bitter apathetic asshole with brain damage, shitty knees, fucked up back, torn rotator cuffs, and fucked up hips. Makes you an old man by age 25.

Patience. Tuned aggression. Competence. A personal set of ethics. Respect for those with experience. Desire for camaraderie. Appreciation of competition. Discipline of the mind and body. Evaluation of threats.

Learning to train, develop, and lead--and to trust subordinates and peers with delegated tasks. Understanding that family and country come before money, medals, and rank.

Finally: all that matters is your mission gets accomplished and your men come home to their families. Fuck everything and everyone else.

Nice larping

Whose larping? I spent 9 months in ramadi and 8 months in sangin. I seen some fuckin shit. (Pic is MOPP gear training in 29 palms inbetween the two)

Post proof faggot

larping or not he is not wrong

Pics or didnt happen right? Im postin em. I apologize if my reaction to being shot at wasnt "pull out phone and gawk." All my photos are in between shit going down. Was too busy trying not to die when anything exciting happened to whip out my camera and take pictures.

>not packing dehydrated water powder in your bug out bag

all of my keks

Stop shilling better men then you.

LOL This kid man, any idiot who argues with basic facts of war (ie that it sucks, does nothing but literally destroy bodies, huge random element due to air/artillary/ect shit).

t. limp wristed faggots

I'm talking about keeping a bleeding wound above the heart, making a proper tourniquet, how to hit a pen properly into someone's throat or lung who has an obstructed airway kind of shit...theres a ton to learn. Also dirt in a wound WILL kill you...touniquet that shit and forget about that limb ever again. Best way to survive.

Lock an load faggot.
Just do it.

Learn to shoot, get rations, hate niggers because even if they're on your side you're gonna have to carry them and they'll turn on you once they're around their kind.

this is what I was looking for, also is there any military gear you would pick over civie gear or is it all junk?

This guy is Semper Fi

desu I automatically ignore anyone with a kekistani flag

it's a bigger tell that the poster is an utter faggot than a canadian flag is

Is there anything you shouldn't know? Is there any thing that can be learned that would be somehow a waste of your time to learn? I don't think that there is.

I figured as much, so pump up cardio and basically hope we aren't fucked?

This is why militias in the US are so important.

Organization and communication and practice. These are what white people should be focusing on.

The trouble is that we're all enormously disconnected from each other in real life and we have no way to network and intermingle. What things like churches and holidays used to do for us, no longer do. Families grow more distant by the decade from each other.

We really need to start tightly knitting white communities back together somehow.

I can illegally tell you the Aegis system NEVER misses and all accidental bombings are in fact purposeful. I've watched ants crawl on speed limit signs 200 miles away...
Also, every naval vessel can see every single ship on the planet including subs at ANY given time without fail.
I can illegally tell you a Nimitz class can push 90 nauts while the official speed is only 30.
Lived on safest place in the world...the middle of an armada..

damn boy you have some tiny ass hands

Former Navyfag here. NOS B320.

The US has a lot, I mean...A LOT of foreign territories, bases, air fields and installations across the planet.

I was stationed in Hawaii, Japan and Guam for most of my active duty.

The one time I saw war, our objective was to smash and go. Rules of engagement were: open to interpretation and discretion. Floated into GOB (gulf of Bahrain) and unloaded 11,000 Tomahawks and 50 Scuds into Iraq. Targets being schools, hospitals, university dorms and military installations. Lots of innocent people died. We weren't the only country there doing this.

I'm personally responsible for tens of thousands of deaths, I sleep well at night.

Fuckin moon man killing the spooks, man

In my opinion, civvies don't need to worry about shelter and tactics.
The bulk of what I learned in the military was more personality oriented than bellic.

Society would be better if people understood and practiced comraderie and had bootcamp-like sense of unity, brotherhood, organization and esprit de corps.

Its the weight of the fucking gear, assault pack, iotv ACH, boots, the combat uniform is thick and doesn't have much ventilation. Get used to running with all that shit and you'll be good

Yeah. Kinda bothers me a bit. When I DO tell my stories folks who aint been there jump down your throat for your story not matching their preconcieved notions of war.

Unless ypur story sounds like a rendition of american sniper or call of duty they dont wanna hear it. War is stupid. It wastes billions and billions on equipment that never gets used. It skims the best most virile, intelligent, fit, and motivated individuals and grinds em up. Either kills em or burns them out and evicts them from societey. Its clumsy, dirty, dangerous and honestly not even very interesting to watch.

A real gunfight is a stumbling clumsy ducking affair that lasts 6 hours and if you move too slow, stick your head out too far, or just fuckin enter the wrong room too early or too late you get pasted.

You might even do everything right and still lose your legs just because an IED or landmine wasnt picked up by the sweeper. Maybe a grenade gets tossed through a window in the middle of your tacticool house clearing op. Maybe some shithead with a sniper rifle puts one in your head while youre trying to take a piss or eat something. Its random and stupid and senseless.

Movies and games have everyone convinced that combat is exciting and visually appealling. Its not. Its just fuckin stupid and terrifying and when its over you just wanna go home, but you still got 5 months left.

You just wanna eat something but it smells like literal shit cuz some haji got hit by a mortar outside. People have shit inside them, when they explode or get shot where does it go? Fuckin everywhere.

Corpsman a decent rate? Whats your opinions on going Green side. Hate to be that guy and ask but I like to hear all the opinions I can get

FC
You literally turned a knob and pushed a button.

I'm guessing this would also ruin your body just training for it, is there any communications training a civvie could do? what about just training to be ready for a war time rushed boot camp?

Here's a guy who doesn't know shit about actual war fighting, let alone what the US combat arms practices.

in case of civil war, mandatory areas for setting up camps would be in hard to cross terrain, swamps, woods, anywhere that government surveillance dims in capability. you can also have the benefit of having support from civilians. in many cases fighting federal forces head on will be a death send, you will have to ambush small units, destroy their weakest links.

Knowing radio communication, 9line medevac, salute report, call for fire etc, also knowing how to read maps will be the best thing a civilian could learn in their free time. It will either save your life or help you get promoted if you get drafted or decide to join up.

The leaf is right on this one.

Yea. Not bad.

t. Shippie that ain't killed noone nohow

Literally don't listen to this guy. That's advice that will get you killed. Stuff that shit with gauze and slap an H-bandage on it. If it's still bleeding, use a tourniquet. If we're talking shit hits the fan scenario, you don't want to use a tourniquet unless it's an arterial bleed with blood shooting out, because you will almost certainly lose that leg. Once it's on, it doesn't come off. Taking it off will resume bleeding with the added bonus of the clot possibly getting into your bloodstream and giving you a stroke if by some miracle you don't bleed out.

Dirt won't stop shit and you'll just get an infection that will kill you.

Keep an eye closed when you go to piss in the middle of the night to maintain night vision.

>checked
Thanks user

Good, I'd like a decent chance of maybe shooting a sub human but still practice the field I hold dear.

Should we learn Commando Krav Maga?

just conscription, not actual combat.

only thing of real-life value i learned from the experience was that the mind goes before the body. during heavy physical exertion, you can always do more, always push on. it has helped me in civilian life, both with exercise, and daily life in general. also with stress.

also i guess this is something you learn by doing, not being told.

Start running. Every day. Don't eat like shit. And don't be a pussy. Yelling is a form of communication like any other, don't take it personally. Learn how to yell loud. And I mean from the guy. Because firefights are loud, so are engines, and even with ear pro most guys are half deaf.

New /HTG/ thread for any interested anons:

We are especially looking for anyone who's good with photo shop and the like to help us map out suspected trafficking hubs, routes, known industrial shipping routes, and etc;

Again, anyone who knows how to and is willing to make maps to help us out would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED AND ADMIRED!!!

user seems interesting where can i learn? Kinda bummed I was never signed up for boy scouts as a kid. I know a kid I graduated high school with, he was an eagle scout.

Kekistani flag < Leaf < Everyone else

>defensible positions
Be somewhere else. If you're defending then you're in a shitty place, you want to be the attacking party.

>how much supplies to carry on our person in case of emergency
You're never carrying enough, and you're always carrying everything except the one thing you need right now.

>basic self-defense
1. Have a gun
2. Don't not have a gun.
3. Have a more accurate, more-rounds-per-minute gun
4. Have more guns, have more people to use those guns
5. The only good fights are the ones that don't involve you.

>foreign policy
Be more trouble than it's worth.

>Society would be better if people understood and practiced comraderie and had bootcamp-like sense of unity, brotherhood, organization and esprit de corps.
What do you think of mandatory military service for all men (women are debatable) between the ages of ~16 and 28?

How much should I run per day? should I start running with a pack once I'm in shape?

>My personal advice is that fortune favors the well prepared. Water is more important than food and its the heaviest thing you'd have to carry in a pack because of its density.

good advice

>Americans (and just peoole in developed nations in general) are NOT ready to do the dirty unheroic and downright reprehensible things you need to do to survive.
>not knowing I watch man vs wild

>What do you think of mandatory military service for all men (women are debatable) between the ages of ~16 and 28?
Voluntary Territory Army training is better, you don't want people who are unequipped and not interested in it.
When it is voluntary you'll get people who are interested and motivated to do the training.
Quality over quantity.

>maybe

Guarantee for the next decade. Shame I'll miss all the fun.

My country used to have it until not too long ago, it's good for numbers only. You end up getting kids with bad habits that end up corrupting others, thugs. It basically becomes a quantity over quality situation.

My opinion is that this kind of education should start early with some youth program like the Hitler's Youth or Salazar's Mocidade Portuguesa.
You can call it brainwashing or whatever you like, but it's certainly better than what we have these days.

Stop being a crying cunt. You're all nothing more than man-child welfare queen.

Pretty accurate but I'll chime in. Having patrolled miles and miles in 160 pounds of gear I feel like im a bit of a subject matter expert on weight load.

Carry 1/3rd your body weight. Its enough weight to allow the essentials but not so much it decreases mobility. Yeah in COMBAT you need a lot of stuff when you dont know how long it will take and are expected to not only not avoid combat but actually intentionally engage in it.

Survival aint combat. If youre surviving you should focus on avoiding direct confrontation and staying mobile. Carry some food, some shelter (tarp and chordage and blanket) good knife, good hatchet, fire starting kit, some water, first aid, and some ammo. If you still got room left at the 1/3rd bodyweight mark toss in extras. Best survival pack isnt one that has everything, its the one thats flexible enough to respond to a wide varietey of situations but still light enough to actually be mobile in.

Ideally you should be able to cover atleast 20 miles a day with your pack. Walk 5 miles, rest 30 min, walk 5 miles, rest 30 min etc etc. If you arent fit then get fit. Cuz having a perfect pack dont mean shit if you cant move.

And ypure nothing more than a whiny NEET with nothing relevant to add to the thread. Go watch trap porn or somethingm grownups are talking.

Don't get into running shape and assume you can hump around with a ruck.

Your legs need to be conditioned for weight. Do squats. Lots of squats. You should be able to squat 1.5x your body weight as skinny-fat nerd fresh off the couch. Work until you're over 2.0x.

In addition, start doing sprints. You're not running the god damn 400m. Do 50m at a time. Sprint 50m, walk 50m, sprint, walk, etc. This will increase your endurance better than doing long runs. General weight lifting will also increase your cardio condition. My fastest 5km runs have been when I was lifting a lot and RARELY doing distance running.

Once your sprints are up there, your legs are strong, and you could actually RUN for 3 miles (run, not jog - which is basically the same speed as walking), maybe start adding weights for your sprints.

I've always liked to sprint with a plate carrier and plates. It is absolutely not designed for this kind of stuff - the make purpose built weighted vests - but I like to be use to wearing it, even when it's uncomfortable and cumbersome.

IF you make it to where you can sprint for 200m with a weighted vest (plate carrier), maybe try it with a ruck. I never do.

Squats and sprints, though. Do them.

DISCLAIMER: Shin splints and plantar fasciitis are not fun. Take care of yourself. Don't start too fast. Getting in shape is not a "hit the ground running" evolution. You need to get into "usable shape" first. This will take time as your body adapts to not sitting on it's ass all day. Take it slow. I fucked my knee up pretty bad, but I kept lifting and I knew my cardio was there. I figured once I was rehabed, I would just continue running like a do anyway. Wrong. Plantar Fasciitis fucked my shit up. 4 months and 3 steroid shots later, I'm getting better.

Just take it slow, bubba.

Know how to work with what you have not what you need, and learn to survive with 0 bowel movements

>random thread
>fucking wealth of information
thanks, user.

I would be intrested in how much you really have to carry. I was told here in Germany it is maybe 35 kg. To me it seems odd that they complain about having to walk 20-25 miles in one day. I did tours with where i walked up to 30 hours with roughly equal weight. It was hard but nowhere near impossible to do, especially with good shoes and somebody you could talk to.

>50 SCUDS
uh huh, so you were with the Saudi or Syrian contingent in Desert Storm right...on a boat. Sure ya were Walter Mitty.

CBRN (74D) here. You can make a gas mask out of a wet t-shirt and a two liter and will work pretty well if you can't get a real one. A hazmat suit you can make out of a roll of duct tape and some waterproof tarps.

These combined will be good against most things except for gamma. Gamma radiation, you can find a two year fallout shelter or kiss your ads goodbye.

3/5 powdered bleach and dirt will be good for residual rads for cars. Activated charcoal is best but bleach will do the trick.

Don't join the army if you don't like racial politics. Mexicans and niggers (mostly nogs) blow each other for promotions and if you're white, pray to god you are in a white unit.

The best way to get in shape for hiking is fuckin easy dude. Just fill a pack full of shit and hike. Do it regularly and you'll figure out on your own what gear is a waste of space and whats critical. After a while you just dont notice the weight anymore and can cover miles and miles without having to slow down or stop.

I mean this gym stuff is fine but frankly just filling up a pack with gear and hiking will do the job just fine.

good advice user

Spent 6 months in the Finnish army

All I learnt was humans can actually sleep right next to an oldish truck engine that is moving the truck you are sitting in the back of, running through bumpy roads

Clean that fucking 50 my god

I ever had a fucking private with enough time on his hands to pose for a selfie when his crew serve looked like that i would crush his fucking duck so hard he'd sprout vaginas out of his ears and his family would forsake him. Christ son

interesting, user

confirmed what I've suspected

otoh, the vessels for future war will be much much much faster and autonomous

an armada is likely a sitting duck

Most folks dont like hearing that they aint ready for combat. Everyone secretley imagines themself as the main charecter at the center of the story.

Reality is combat sucks and most people arent capable of it without the proper indoctrination and conditioning. Even then its a fuckin asskicker that burns you up pretty quick.

Maybe like 5% of the population end up with the right combination of mental and physical traits that make them naturally fit for warfare. The rest gotta be indoctrinated and PTed and drilled over and over for months at great expense to be worth a damn at fighting. Plus you lose that skillset and mindset really fast. It only takes a few months to revert back to being useless again. Thats why military grunts are literally almost never not training at it.

Its a pretty sick lifestyle too. Wears ya out fast and is generally just an unsustainable mode of existence.

>50 Scuds

Scuds are Soviet land-based missiles

what the fuck are you on about?

Learning to slice the pie and clear rooms is the best thing you can learn. If someone breaks into your home and you need to clear rooms, you will wish you knew how.

We found it in an iraqi army weapons locker. Thats why I took a picture with it actually. Never fuckin seen a gun in such rough shape. We spent 3 hours busting rust on it and got it firing again.

Fuckin hajis dont value anything we give em.

You should know you have little to no chance of long term survival without a colony in which to live in.
Can someone survive on their own? Yes.
Will you be that person, statistically impossible.
You can study as many books, you can try to practice as much as you want to survive.
You will not without a reliable home and family (colony) to work with.
You'll starve, get sick, lose resources, die from environmental factors, be ransacked, be murdered, be taken over, be injured, because this is not a movie. You can not do it all.
If you want to learn useful skills, sure go for it. Specialize in something. The more specialized you are the more you can barter and be useful with other people (could potentially save your life if someone say needs a mechanic).
The colony is the only way to survive.
You work together for each other's mutual survival. It's the only form of communism that actually works. As every human needs resources to live.
As for supplies, you carry at most a quarter of your body weight. You'll never be able to carry more indefinitely. Though it could be argued you could carry more at the start and drop unneeded weight as you move on. You carry as much of that in food and water as you can.
You keep your regions temperature in mind and the rest of your resources should reflect the environment.
This isn't some fucking camp out, this is survival. You'll possibly be sleeping in drain ditches, you could be sleeping in shacks.
Maybe abandoned houses, but in reality until you know the nature of your threat. Assume you'll be sleeping with no fire and no protection from the elements.
Basic defense is just a plus, a firearm or improvised weapon is just plain better. Not getting into a CQC fight or taken prisoner is the smarter move.
Foreign policy? If shit hits the fan to the point we are living Red Dawn, this won't matter at all. They will kill you if given the chance.
5 years SOCCNET, multiple years PSYOP, trained with SF, I am not SF.

PSYOPS? Were you guys that started the rumor that our sunglasses had x-ray vision so we could see the haji women naked? Cuz in sangin those fuckers were 100% convinced our x-ray sunglasses allowed us to perv on their women.

Now I know you're a vet. Fucking hajj shit bag AA and IP.... fuck em. keep you're head high brother. You're worth fighting for. Reach out when you need help. Go to the VA. Things look dark call your brothers, your family, onesource. Keep your head held high. You will make it Marine.

I'll take shit that never happened for 500 Alex

Just go find your local militia and if you're already military they'll have found you.

My dad was a combat medic in Vietnam and told me was approached many times by militias trying to recruit him. He declined as they were a bunch of extremist nutjobs.

This is more of a question of shit hitting the fan but before a red dawn scenario more like a total war rapid shit training draft or militia event.

You should know that if a kiowa or apache helicopter wants you dead, you are completely fucked.

I aint gonna kill myself dude. I just hate most everyone and my body hurts a lot more than it should. Im kinda just permanantly surly and profane.

Far as things go could be worse. Got all my limbs still, brain didnt get scrambled enough to make me retarded, and I get to say fuck off to whoever I want now that my DD-214 is copied in triplicate, laminated, and stashed in my gunsafe.

But yeah. Trying to do joint ops with IA, ANA, and AUP was like handing guns out to heroin addicted toddlers with down syndrome. Frankly I was more worried about getting smoked by an ND from one of those tards than anything else over there.

No that's a meme m8.
If you were infantry it's like a frat house, it's really easy to start rumors.
PSYOP isn't even called that anymore.
It's called MISO now, because the government thought PSYOP sounded too scary.
I have 6 coins from the unit, one of those coins is literally from the last batch of PSYOP coins to ever be made.

If you have questions feel free to ask.
Flat out though, PSYOP is the weirdest mix of POG and Operators that exist in the military.
I worked alongside SF, Infantry, computer guys, "psyopers", it was just a weird fucking experience.

SOCCENT was pretty awesome, I worked with the marines the entire time in IRAQ.

More looking to be prepared and maybe more of an asset to my country in case shit hits the fan then trying to be a dumbass extremist.

Ive been approached by what seems about every crazy seperatist and doomsday survival crew in western montana. Even some fuckin commie hippie commune. I dont like em, theyre too friendly, a little too eager. Just a wierd vibe. Culty and half nuts.

I kinda feel like if SHTF im more likley to end up being shot by one of them than some meth addicted psycho or some dindu looter. Would like to keep them as far away as possible.

Plus I just garuntee ypu every single one of those groups has 2 or 3 federal agents pretending to be members. Would like to stay off those guys list if I can.

>brain damage, shitty knees, fucked up back, torn rotator cuffs, and fucked up hips
But there is no greater reward than gratitude of the Israeli people and 1%, amirite goyim?

Now imagine instead of fighting wars as pawn for Greater Israel and central bankers you could be somewhere else doing something productive. Whew

The interstate was built as a way to move the military and shut down civilian populations if necessary. Weigh stations double as traffic control points And it was a stolen design of the autobahn created by mein fuer

That will be hard to do when all the overpasses are blown to smithereens.

the military teaches you that no one will ever give one shit whether you like something or not

We had some of them, plus some of the Human exploitation guys come along on our patrols. Those guys always just wandered off on their own and joined back up with our op whenever they were done.

Only thing PSYOPs ever did was have us hand out a buncha flyers an shit. We just always joked that the hajis got their "Marines spit venom and summon demons" shit from you guys.

You are correct tho. I once showed a haji a picture of anna nicole smith and told him it was my wife. He totally believed me.

Three foot pieces of thick wire with rags tied to it placed in a field will fuck up a landing helicopter. Always no entry and exits.

Confidence and leadership. Shooting skills, first aid, self-aid. Patriotism. And,,, basically how bad ass America is and how lucky I am to be an American.
