Just want to point out that the despite the negs in the last thread the Syrians have always been quite big on paratroopers, but they're deployed by helicopter not by fixed wing aircraft.
They were often some of the best trained, motivated and politically reliable formations in the Syrian inventory and so were used a lot for repression, such as during the Hama affair in 1982.
