More leverage in the peace talks, access to the rest of Eastern Syria (to prevent the border to Iraq from getting cut off), while also dealing a huge defeat to ISIS who never managed to take the city, and of course the chance to raise morale in the SAA by relieving such a long siege.
Michael Campbell
First of all, it's not "Capturing DeZ", as Assad still has troops in DeZ city. Second of all, it relieves the soldiers under siege there, and removes the threat of being overrun and beheaded by ISIS Third of all, it paves the way for expansion elsewhere, namely the oilfields to the north of Abu Kamal. Fourth of all, it marks the end of ISIS in Syria, as they will be reduced to a smattering of villages soon to be cleared on the Euphrates, and the central Syrian mountain chain.

Massive pro-government reinforcements arrive in eastern Homs for upcoming offensive
>BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 A.M.) – A huge number of pro-government reinforcements have arrived in eastern Homs. The new forces come from the southwestern desert region of Syria and have been spotted arriving in Palmyra’s eastern countryside and in the area of Hamimah.
>These reinforcements are to be deployed against ISIS in a new, broad-front offensive push by pro-government forces towards the strategic town of al-Sukhnah and the T-2 Airbase.
>The new forces which have been relocated to eastern Homs include the elite 800th Regiment of the SAA’s Republican Guard, the Al-Quwah Al-Jaafriyah and Sarayaa Al-Areen militia groups as well as major elements of the 1st Armored Division and 3rd Armored Division.
>Virtually all of these reinforcements are from southeast Rif Dimashq and eastern As-Suwayda Governorates where they were engaged against US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) mercenaries.
>However, in response to a recent ceasefire – brokered by Russia and the United States – reached between pro-government forces and FSA factions in the Syria’s southwestern Badia region, the Syrian High Command has decided to redeploy these core formations to eastern Homs.
Started lightly following around when Russia intervened, started seriously following to try to prove Trump wrong.
Then realized Trump was right, started rooting for Assad, laughed when Assad cucked Erdogan's NeoOttoman dreams, got pissed when Trump bombed the airbase, then happy when Trump cut a deal with Putin. Currently laughing at Assad cucking the Kurds push to DeZ

>"It is extremely important that a solution to the current crisis be found by Friday," Mladenov told reporters after briefing the U.N. Security Council behind closed doors. "The dangers on the ground will escalate if we go through another cycle of Friday prayer without a resolution."

>President al-Assad succeeded his own father, and according to O Globo, pro-regime commentators hailed Hafez’s membership on the Syrian team as a sign that he, too, was superb leadership material.
What actually happened, however, is that the younger Assad performed abysmally, ranking 528 out of 615 total participants
Meanwhile Assad's son retardation confirmed.

>How are oil fields important in conflicts in the Middle East? I dunno, pretty cheap rn.
But if you've been watching the war in Syria for years...
You've been dying for the day Deir ez-Zor is free. It's that little circle on the map, struggling against ISIS, every day they fight and fight against the most evil of foes, blocking them from conquering all along the Euphrates (until recently) and being bombarded by America and her fiendish allies for the sole purpose of saving Syria from the clutches of evil.
Deir ez-Zor is a hero city.

On a serious note though, why are armed groups allowed to be created? They are basically ISIS but faggot version. They should be internationally considered as terrorists and get eradicated on the spot.
