Why is the US the only industrialized western nation without government provided healthcare? It could be set up like medicare with a tax that covers it for everyone. It would be cheaper for employers and employees to pay that tax than it is to pay price gouging insurance companies now. With more money in everyone's pockets the economy could even improve.

Why is universal healthcare such a good idea? Well, like many of Trump's ideas, its good for the economy. It stimulates small businesses, since paying for health care is one of the biggest barriers to employment, and it allows employees to search for new jobs without fear of losing coverage for themselves or their families, leading to greater wage competition. On top of all that, over the next ten years, it would actually reduce medical costs and save America 17 trillion dollars! I truly hope that Trump is given an opportunity to sign a medicare-for-all bill during his presidency. I know from his previous statements that he will vote in favor of it, to the benefit of our country and our people.

The problem with this is that health care providers will just move to states that don't have universal health care. For universal health care to work most effectively, it has to be applied nationwide.
