I'm not sure. All I know is that there is a possible conflict of interest with Mueller, since supposedly nearly half of the legal team have financial connections to the Democrats. And since they now further want to investigate the Comey-Clinton-Lynch connections, I highly doubt Mueller is unknowing, or in extend, not involved.

You remember the years leading up to the mess in Ukraine. The EU was trying to essentially bribe Ukraine into joining their (deliberately) failed scheme. Specifically, they couldn't wait to get the eastern part, Crimea, where all the money was. It also happens to be where a lot of ethnic Russians live.
Putin naturally has to be cautious about old soviet satellite states getting too chummy with the West. He's not paranoid, the West is constantly trying to turn his old allies and move closer to the Russian border.
Recall Sochi and the years before that. The EU was constantly planting subversives in the Ukraine and west Russia to cause discontent. The idea was to persuade the Ukrainian people to rise up and support EU accession.
Except it didnt work. And when all hell broke loose, the Crimeans and surrounding provinces of Ukraine essentially declared secession from the old state and asked for and recieved help from Putin's military.
Now the EU was betting on a win, and lost instead. The EU is a Jew run scheme and Jews are good at finance and law shenanigans, but dont have the power to engage militarily.
So all they were left with is sanctions against Russian oligarchs. These are government imposed restrictions on where they can do business and direct their finances. The intended effect was to piss off the oligarchs and send them ranting to Putin to pull out of Crimea. This has not worked either.
Enter the US elections.
The EU is the global headquarters of the ((( international))) leftists, as is seen in their streets every day.

So as panic floods the EU/international left, they have to think of a way to force the US government leadership to stay on as the gun-man, the thug to enforce sanctions on a rival that have fuckall to do with whats best for the US. This is where the "Russia interfered with the US election" meme came from.
So in order to force Trumps hand in Russia, they concoct this juvenile Russian meddling theme to accuse Russia of doing what the EU actually did. The EU didn't hack the election, they just funded their candidate. ...
... The intended effect is to make it suspicious looking any time Trump says anything nice about Russia. Any time he doesn't shit on them, the press will report it as 'collusion' or some such. The idea is to force him to do what they want out of fear of bad press coverage so that he can never heal relations with Russia, and the EU can keep using the US to attack their rivals in Russia.
Their end-game is to force Putin out of power completely so they can move in to corrupt Russia as badly as they have the US and Europe. It isn't really about ideology; the elites care fuckall about the people. They want to be able to force business ties that they cant do while Putin holds the line and defends his backers. The sanctions are meant to make that impossible over time. Ultimately they want to force those ties in Russia. But until then, they would settle for Putin calling a 'cease fire', which is leftist media code for slinking back to Moscow and abandoning the people of Crimea who are depending on him to defend them from Ukrainian national forces from rolling in and physically yanking out sovereign leaders who want nothing to do with the EU, thus giving Crimea to the EU and rewarding them with all the money and resources in Crimea.
Ultimately, this would have the effect of putting the West right on Russia's doorstep, which is another military pain in the balls that neither the US nor Russia needs.
So until Trump starts deploying troops into Ukraine to drive out Russians, which will never happen, we will hear no end of the "Russian collusion" narrative. The picture they wish to paint for election purposes is that if Trump isn't burning the Russian flag on the White House lawn, he must be an ally.
Which is ironic, since the "Russian interfering with the election" meme literally is the EU interfering with our democracy via fake news.
I'm not sure if you followed last years events in my country. Signatures were collected for a referendum by what was then the thinkthank Forum voor Democratie (Forum for Democracy) and a few others. FvD is now a political party with 2 seats in our parliament and rising immensely in popularity the recent months.
The result of the referendum, which was about a EU association treaty with Ukraine, was answered with a resounding 63% NO. Since many feared it would be the first step to getting Ukraine to join the EU, which was shoved aside as false and nonsense: it was just a trade treaty'. Our Prime Minister was very reluctant to listen to the result, spend months spinning around it.
Now I believe last month or before that, the treaty has been accepted anyway, with Jean Claude Juncker congratulating Poroshenko on their first step to joining EU...
This theory makes a type of sense, but it also doesn't necessarily dismiss that Trump is being aided by and potentially controlled by Russian intelligence. Could be both neh?
