The "Republican machine"? I am a staunch Democrat, and this whole thing REEKS. There are hundreds of people in the same Chinatown neighborhood, making minimum wage in the most expensive city to live in, giving $1,000, $2,000, and $2,300 donations to Clinton. Do you honestly think that dishwashers living in Manhattan can afford to donate that kind of money? I don't know how anyone can say yes to that answer, with a straight face.
I think it's pretty obvious that a wealthy Clinton supporter(s), such as Hsu or someone else, donated thousands and thousands of dollars under the names of numerous other people – including many minimum wage workers. Whether or not Clinton knew about this and was actively involved is up for debate. At the very least, Clinton and her campaign obviously had to have noticed that they were getting very irregular and suspicious donations, but decided not to do anything about it and just keep the money instead.
If Clinton gets the Democratic nomination, she will hurt our chances of getting the White House back...the Republicans are going to pounce on this and numerous other shady things she has been doing and has done over the years, and they will really rile up their core base of voters who don't like Clinton – and motivate them to come out to vote (causing Democrats running in some close Congressional races to lose as well).

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas- Yah Lin "Charlie" Trie, President Bill Clinton's longtime friend and a Democratic campaign fund-raiser, pleaded guilty Friday to two charges in his Little Rock, Arkansas trial as part of a plea agreement.
In exchange for his guilty pleas, and pledge to cooperate with Justice Department's campaign fund-raising investigation, federal prosecutors have agreed to drop indictments pending against Trie in Washington and Arkansas.

Under the agreement, a Washington indictment charging the Democratic fund-raiser with making illegal campaign contributions to the Democratic National Committee will also be dropped. Trie, a Taiwanese American, was accused of acting as a straw donor for Chinese business in an effort to curry favor with the U.S. president.
Trie is likely to be sentenced to three years' probation as a result of his guilty pleas, though the judge must approve the prosecutors' recommendation. The government agreed not to pursue home detention or electronic monitoring during his probation.
Trie is a key figure in the campaign scandal involving campaign donations from Asian sources to the 1996 Clinton-Gore re-election effort and other Democratic campaigns.
Trie became friends with then-Arkansas Gov. Clinton when he frequented a Chinese restaurant Trie owned near the Capitol in Little Rock.

He was charged in the Arkansas case with obstructing a Senate investigation into Democratic fund-raising activities during the 1996 election cycle.
While the more serious obstruction charge was dropped, Trie did plead guilty the felony charge of causing false statements and a misdemeanor count of making political contributions in the names of others.
Under the false statements charge, Trie admitted to causing the DNC's treasurer to submit a report to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) that gave false names for donors. "I know that the DNC had the names of the wrong persons," Trie told the judge.
Trie also admitted getting other people to make campaign contributions for him - $5,000 worth - on February 19, 1996. "I requested that somebody else give the money for me," he said.
Clinton's defense fund and the Democratic National Committee have been FORCED to return more than $1 million in funds raised by Trie.

In late April, Ling Yu, 33, was arrested in New York on a first-degree felony charge of engaging in organized crime and was later indicted by a McLennan County grand jury. Hang Zheng, a Chinese citizen, was also arrested by McLennan County authorities in Austin this week on a first-degree felony charge of engaging in organized crime stemming from the investigation.
Authorities have also issued arrest warrants for Zhao Chen Shi, 33, and Xubin Zou, 27, who are also alleged to have committed human trafficking crimes from 2016 through early 2017.
So far, authorities have identified 16 women they believe were working for the suspects in Waco, Houston, Austin, New York City, Indianapolis, Washington D.C., Boston, and New Orleans.
Investigators believe that Xubin and Ling were responsible for placing escort ads on Backpage.com while Hang and Chen arranged apartments and hotel rooms for the women.
“This really has snowballed into a much bigger case than we ever could have figured,” McNamara said. “The investigation continues, and we are not going to let up.”

Selling and buying women for marriage has been a widespread cultural practice in Chinese history. Research has shown a diminishing rate of kidnapping and selling women and children from 2.29 per 100,000 in 1991 to 0.44 per 100,000 in 2002. Despite recent efforts, the sale of women continues to exist in China. It was estimated by the Ministry of Public Security that 10,000 women and children are being abducted and sold each year. Between 2001 and 2005, 1,794 women and children in a remote southwest province in China were sold and more than 2,000 victims were rescued.
It was reported that a lot of women in Yunnan were sold to provinces such as Henan where gender imbalance was severe. Between April and July 2004, police rescued 85 women and children who were abducted from the southwestern part of Yunnan, which was affected the worst. It was also reported that some women from countries such as Vietnam have migrated to China for economic reasons and found themselves sold or kidnapped. In 1995, 2,716 women were freed from kidnappers and deported back to Vietnam.

Although Chinese laws prohibit forced labor, it remains a serious problem in China. Internationally, many Chinese men were deceived into forced labor in countries such as Mexico, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, and Argentina. Internally, many men, particularly children, were kidnapped or abducted into enslaved forced labor. For instance, it was reported that over one thousand men were forced to make bricks without payment in hundreds of brick kilns in Shanxi Province. Hundreds of these abducted laborers were teenagers and children; some were young as eight. Scantily clad, these laborers were often fed no more than water and steamed buns and forced to work in inhumane conditions that were worse than prisons.
Upon the news about the forced labor at brick kilns, hundreds of parents traveled to brick factories in search of their missing sons. A mother visited over 100 brick factories in Shanxi Province looking for her 15-year-old son. She saw small kids, some as young as 14 or 15, hauling carts of bricks; and the ropes they pulled left tracks of blood on their shoulders and back. Some were moving very hot, heavy bricks from the machine belt very quickly to prevent burns and damage by the machines. A father found his 16-year-old son after a number of visits to brick factories, only to find his son “totally dumb, not even knowing how to cry, or to scream or to call out ‘Father.’” Held in the arms of a crying father, the son, who was in rags and had wounds all over the body, was incapable of emotional reaction.
Despite the virulent issue of forced labor and child labor, authorities and local leaders were not able to help petitioned parents to locate their missing sons and failed to crack down on these illegal factories.

The five are suspected of forcing at least 28 victims, all Chinese nationals, into prostitution in nine counties across Central and Southern California, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Hsin Chieh “Jerry” Wang, 40, of Covina, was accused of heading the organization. Officials allege that his sister, Yiwen Wang, 42, also of Covina, laundered money obtained from the sex trade.
Jiuyin Cui, 63, of Rosemead, and Runan Xia, 32, of Alhambra, were accused of taking clients to and from hotels and motels where the victims stayed, and Defung Hu, 33, of San Gabriel, allegedly coordinated the illicit appointments, according to detectives.
The victims identified so far are all female Chinese nationals who came to the U.S. by legitimate means, such as work or school visas, according to officials.
“They get here and unwittingly enter this basically modern-day slavery situation,” said Captain Garo Kuredjian, media-relations officer for the Ventura sheriff’s office.
