Just finished reading it yesterday. I enjoyed it but you're right when you say it's "horribly written" but we can use the excuse that it's a diary: it's not written to be a literary masterpiece. The story and events are exciting, but just imagine the impact it would have had if the writing was better. I think it would have gone down as a classic. I mean how many other books are about the race war?
I recommend to anyone who unironically believes in the race war.
