I'll hang out for about a half hour more.
Any questions I didn't get to answering, just type them up again and I'll do what I can.

Why do you believe in salvation by works and not by faith?

And don't forget to check out the archived thread I linked to. I'll be covering topics 2-5 in future posts (hopefully all in this month).

Salvation is by Grace. However, we must follow the commandments (i.e. sheep and the goats). James' letter in the Bible explains that we cannot be saved by faith alone.

Do you agree with the tradition that priests not be able to take wives? Why is the western rite of the catholic church unique in this regard? I feel like it would both reduce the scandals of homosexual and pedophilic behavior, while also allowing the priests to give better sacramental advice to those who are considering the vocation of marriage.

>Here's a quote from the linked post. I covered #1 yesterday.
I will try to cover the following topics over the next month or so:
1. How does one motivate oneself to DO something? I know what I want to do, but how do I actually DO it?
2. Education. Reading the right books and otherwise training the mind.
3. Physical health. How to lose weight, get strong and feel well (more of a /fit thing, I know)
4. Finances. Getting out of debt and being financially free.
5. Romance. How to find a worthy spouse who is loving, faithful and pure.
>Why can’t you talk about romance first?
Because you need to fix yourself first. I’m not going to teach you how to meet a woman, just to have her come over when you still need to CLEAN YOUR ROOM. To give you hope though, I will say this: my method for meeting the right woman, where to find her, etc. has proven to be pretty successful. I’ve actually married couples who have met and married following my method. However I should point out that this will work best if you are Catholic, or at least Christian. (It will also work best for Americans. Sorry).
>But what is your expertise in these areas? How does being a priest mean you know anything about fitness?
There are some areas where I will recommend resources more than anything. However, the key is to apply the method for motivation. There are countless books in the how-to area, but the real issue is motivation.

Could you please elaborate on James' letter. I'm a newbie to Christianity.

Why is confession important?

Do you believe in gravity?

Do you all agree that the current Pope is the Anti-Pope ?

wouldn't it be more likely that jesus was an alien? wouldn't this explain his necromancy and healing abilities? also creating all those extra fish dinners sounds more like a replicator from star trek. his acsension when he resurrected sounds more like he got beamed up to the mothership

I actually think it could make the homosexual problem worse. Here's why: We would most likely adopt the Orthodox model of married priests and celibate bishops. But all that would do for us (in the West with so much more openness to homosexuality) is push more homosexuals into the episcopacy where they would have even more power. As for the priesthood, I believe we would attract a lot of hacks. I know that celibacy is only a practice, but I believe it prevents more problems that it causes.

Father, I am sturggling getting back into my faith. (Baptized Catholic, Catholic school, fell out of faith with teen years + internet)

I've realized most things we do are just toil and distraction from becoming close to God, but I am having a hard time throwing these things aside to further my relationship with him.

I am in an extremely stressful major in University, and all of my ways of coping are horrible.

Substance abuse (just caffiene, but it's still a reliance)
Alcoholism (drunk most weekends and tough week nights)
Excessive masturbation(were talking 40x a week)
Casual sex(when the wants aren't enough)
Video games(I know these aren't inherently bad, but they do bring out an overly competitive and evil side of me)

I do all these things as a way to get by. I k ow the easy way to stop is just to tell me to stop, but you don't tell a meth addict to just stop doing meth, im sure you get it.

My friend has been guiding me (he's some Protestant thinker in the states) and has me reading Tim Keller's "A reason for God" as a starting point of rekindling my faith. Based on all I have told you here, do you have any other input for me on the start of my journey?

Thanks for all the insight in this thread. It's why I still come here.

James 2:14-26. basically says that faith without works is dead.

That's a fair counterpoint. Thanks for the (you)

Are you in favour of a Christian shariah-esque law society in which adulterers are punished and homosexuals are executed.

Confession was instituted by Christ himself (see John 20:19-23. This power to absolve has been passed down through the bishops and priests since the apostles.

uh... yes.

Only real question.
How much influence does the vatican have on your daily "business" (ie. the masses/preachings)? Is it just some minor thing or do they pretty much dictate the way you handle stuff?

I heard an interpretation that it's more of a sign that there is no faith. As in, if you have true faith, you will naturally have good works and good works strengthen your faith.

why did the church destroy Julian's "Against the Galilaeans"?

I do not believe he is an anti-pope, but I think his practices have been destructive for the Church. I believe that he is possibly a chastisement that God has allowed for our sins.

How is going the church in the U.S? The People, the priests, how they are like?

why is god such a sneaky fucker

I think that would be a huge stretch, especially considering that he was born of a woman...

My girlfriend is atheist but Peterson is bringing me back to the light. How much better will my relationship be without a liberal atheist partner? I don't want to trade one dogma for another. Do you find the women in your congregation to have clear minds and represent "the logos?"

Father, I'm a catholic, but have become disenchanted with the concept of 'afterlife'. I'd like to make the most out of this life on earth, because I think that's all there is. (Recently started praying directly to the one-true God, the Universal Creator). Anyway, I'd like to sell my 'soul' to the 'devil' for wealth, power and fame, and wonder if you have any suggestions on how I could make the arrangement for this unholy contract. Thank you!

Please give me a quick run-down on the tangible and practical improvements (if any) to modern western society that catholicism offers. I don't care about proof of God's existence or whether the catholic God is interested and active in my personal life. I just want to know what, at this point in the decline of the west, the catholic institution offers our society.

When will you break off from that satanic religion?

We know the catholic mass is just a sanitized version of the satanic mass, or do you not know anything about your own religious system?

Join us on /christian/, we also have a discord. God bless!

>I feel like it would both reduce the scandals of homosexual and pedophilic behavior
Stop treating the pedophilia as a bunch of separate offenses by individual priests. It's part of the Church's very DNA, it is part of their worship

Thank you for the post. First of all, make sure you're doing the following three things, no matter what: 1. Pray every day. 2. Go to Mass every Sunday. 3. Go to confession, even weekly if you have to. Additionally, I wrote the stuff I did in the linked post especially to help people who are in a situation such as yours. Here's the link again: archive.4plebs.org/pol/thread/136304207/
Stay strong and keep up the good fight!

I believe it's spelt cafolic

atheist = clueless moron

you should dump that blind fool

Hello Father, I'm Catholic myself and find myself opting to teach myself instead of going to church because of fake pastors and priests.
So, I have a number of questions.
>First is about the corruption of the text.
Do you think the bible has been altered over the course of history? Of course, there will be errors from translation etc. but I'm talking about willful alterations. If so which one would you recommend as being the truest?
>Second about the Nicene Creed.
I don't think I've ever read in the bible where Jesus explicitly said to worship or pray to him or his mother. (Rosary etc.) Isn't this a form of idolatry?
Shouldn't we call on God instead?
Also, why did it take 325 years for them to form and enforce the idea that Christ is literally God? And why did the church then eradicate all texts and enforced their new law?
>Third is Jesus "eliminating the old law".
Jesus said he did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it, but a jot of ink shall fade till all is accomplished ( or something so).
As far as I know, we still have prophecies waiting to happen (Like the Damascus prophecy)
If this is the case and Jesus speaks the word of God, which absolute, then why do we have people breaking the statutes and commandments saying they are no longer relevant?

Thank you for this thread;

That would not be Christian... Christ specifically forbade the killing of adulterers. Homosexuals should give their lives to God like everyone else.

your religion is a fucking sham and every single member of your satan worshipper pope's club is gonna burn in hell you fucking faggot

Very little, in fact. Of course, all the liturgical books come down to us. And I follow them exactly (I "say the black and do the red").

Do you interpret the Old Testament literally? How old is the Earth?

Why didn't all those things in Matthew pass before the end of that generation?

>inb4 genos = race
unlikely

>clean your room
Do you know who Jordan Peterson is?
What opinion do you have on his take on Christianity and the histories of the Bible?

Father could you comment on this verse from Mathew, attributed to our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ:

Matthew 23:9 9 And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

yes a "virgin" woman. this is a case of artificial insemination if there has ever been one. i think this only strengthens the idea that he was an extra terrestrial

Why do you worship a pope that is actively surrendering Christianity to Islam?

The young are more traditional, the older people more liberal (especially among priests... most liberal laity have simply left). I believe there is real hope for the future, but I'm concerned under this papacy that we are going to continue to get bad bishops. This is really unfortunate.

Why go to mass when God is not in the building?

Why confess my weaknesses when no man on earth has the ability to cleanse them but myself through hard work and introspection?

Claiming a man can absolve sins is blaspheme.

Will you help motivate me to go to confession? I keep telling myself to go but apathy and pornography keep me from growing the balls to do it.

What is your opinion on kaballahists?

Is this what was practiced in sodom and gomorrah?

come on man, redpill the lady!

no it's not you dirty proddie anti-catholic heretical nigger

If the homosexual refuses to repent, is he to be put to death?
Also, very related, are the laws of the Old Testament still in place? I know that Christ said he came to fulfil the laws, but not abolish. Surely this means that they are still in place? Do you also think it is a sign of immorality when people react with disgust towards Leviticus? Even when the laws don't apply to you, they are still okay in God's book, and therefore perfectly moral.

Father, my wife and I want to convert to Catholicism, and we have a great Trad Cath community(they even hand out copies of this after Latin Mass: remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php) can you please explain Mary though? Maybe a link to a good vid explaining everything about her and devotion? I want to be a good Catholic, but it seems a little weird.

he can't be an anti-pope since big B resigned... funny the last short-tenured-by-choice pope was Pope Benedict IX

please, quickly, remind everyone who owns them

Father, is heaven a real place in this Universe that you could fly to if you had the right kind of spaceship?

What do you think about the chuch homosexuality problem ?

thesun.co.uk/news/3953226/vatican-police-broke-up-gay-orgy-in-leading-cardinals-apartment-owned-by-the-churchs-sexual-abuse-taskforce/

why go with extra terrestrial instead of lost technology? my favourite example is concrete. the romans knew how to make it, then it was lost for 1000 years before somebody figured it out again.

glad to hear that.

This is what I believe in, essentially genuine faith naturally leads to genuine works. So in a sense I think Catholics and Sola Fide protestants are both right.

Faith is the Seed
Works is the Tree
Salvation the Fruit

The entire Jesus story was stolen from Krishna, I doubt this 'priest' even knows this.

With over 400 identical or nearly identical details it's hardly a coincidence. Oh look another virgin birth, lol.

Catholicism has tended to be the protector and promoter of the great Western tradition. Even as secular schools were cutting out study of the Greeks and Romans (including Greek and Latin languages) the Catholic Church has more or less maintained this (though there are schools that are Catholic in name only). I still believe the best Western education can be obtained in a good Catholic school (e.g. Thomas Aquinas college in California).
GK Chesterton said that "tradition is the democracy of the dead." Though our Church has floundered a bit as of late, I believe we still have a great number of institutions which preserve our western heritage. Furthermore, the faith lived well and true makes for a person of great character, on the whole.

Thank you friend. I am trying to find a church and decide if I want to attend Catholic or Ref. Protestant. I know you shill for Catholic churches, but can any other anons recommend one over the other so I can begin /sorting/?

lol

hi father

>muh Zeitgeist BS
youtube.com/watch?v=A6vtA5O5Ako

Why do Christians support isreal? What did all those crusaders die for?

why do you work for an international pedophile ring you degenerate faggot?

Good digits for the subject (7).

Also, very good metaphor for it.

Father, is sci-fi and other forms of fantasy entertainment in your opinon, immoral?

What do you think of the Pope?

I saw the past Pope when he came here and i wen't from being skeptic about him to actually liking him. I dont know if its how the whole event was prepared or the anticipation, but there was something awe-inspiring about the man, even if he did not at his best health, he seemed in a way, touched by god.

But the new one is just really sketchy so far, and i wouldnt be surprised of he was some plant from some wanna-be reformer cult.

The only self improvenent needed in this thread is your fingernails boy dont you think god can still see those talons even with ya hands folded praying???

Blind faith is foolish.
You don't need a modern control system to live a moral life.
Did you know salvation is a satanic concept?

No magical being is going to fix your problems or save the planet. It's up to people to ACT and do it themselves.

Do you think "Is the Pope Catholic?" is a legitimate question now? :p

padre what is your pro-opinion on this meme? if jesus was the emperor of the western world, what would he do?

1. Whatever alterations have occurred (there has DEFINITELY been redactions, etc) have been part of the process of inspiration. We are not muslims who believe that God directly spoke the scriptures. The Christian scriptures are a cooperation between God and Man.
2. The bible makes clear that there are a great many other things that Jesus did and said that are not contained in the gospels. He left the apostles and their successors to pass down the fullness of the faith.
3. The entirety of the law is fulfilled in Jesus. In essence, by being a good Catholic one IS fulfilling the Law.
You should still go to Church, my friend. Think of it as getting on a lifeboat. Better to be with people you don't like than to drown outside of it. I know there are bad people in the Church, even priests. But we must be faithful to Christ. remember what he said about the "wheat and the tares."

lmao I think I killed the thread with this post

Are you a pedophile ?

What does the church think of marijuana?

Father why were all of Jesus's teachings corrupted by Paul, a Christian-hater, who never met jesus and who authored OVER half the texts selected by Constantine's Nicean council to comprise the new testament? Was it to establish a state-sponsored control religion based in death-cult values, ie. suffer in this world for a magical reward in the 'afterlife'? Would Jesus, a man who taught about the one-true God, be rolling in his grave if he knew he had been deified by Paul and Constantine, if he hadn't already rotted into organic molecules?

Christcucks hahahaahah

I'm having a crisis of faith. I wasn't raised religious, but recently I've been warming to the christian faith and I feel like my lack of religious conviction has been a huge hole in my life. And I'm finding it difficult to make the last step and declare to myself that I sincerely believe in the existence of god and in his promise to the world.

Where do I go from here, how do I find the right denomination for me? What's the best way to practice faith? How do I convince myself Christianity is the one true faith? I feel like I'm about 90% there but can't find the last 10%.

1. I believe in science. The bible is a complicated mix of literal truth and allegory (and it's different for each book). The universe is around 13.8 billion years old. But God did create the world.
As for the things happening before the passing of the generation, this is true if we consider Christ's resurrection as ushering in the last age.

I'm trying! Pretty resistant, seems like all progress gets lost

faith must be blind or otherwise you are merely acknowledging facts that know you are true or untrue

just say "faith is foolish" if you want to take the empiricist way out

I'm a huge fan. I was quoting him there.
I'd have to listen more to what he says about the Bible. As far as I can tell, he explores it more in the context of myth, but if I had the chance I'd love to talk with him about the truth of the faith beyond mere myth.

REMOVE FOREIGN POPERY

just cause theyre the same in a sense doesnt make either of them stolen. it just confirms theres must be something there worth reading, if it exists all over the world. wich it do except in barbarian countries

do not call that man father

The priest is an intermediary to act in a way to keep you from committing the sins in the future. God absolves your sins, but to keep from sinning in the future the priest gives you Penance. This further helps ease your conscience by making you feel like you're working for that salvation, and not freeloading like a lazy protestant.

Do you think racism is justified by the Bible, as in simply believing in different races existing. The verse everybody uses to justify not believing in race is "There is neither Jew nor Greek, man or woman", yet I think this was simply in the context of salvation and not day-to-day workings of society, as God does indeed treat women differently than men.

Well, the Catholicism in Brazil or the U.S has a lot of things in common.

Yes. What Jesus is saying is that though we come from parents, we most truly come from God. He did not mean literally "don't call people father." He goes on a few verses later to say "call no one teacher." Well, obviously this isn't literal. Many times in the New Testament we have people calling others father, including religious figures. (Paul himself refers to himself as a "father")

How do you view foreign cultures and races that don't have Catholicism but must adopt it, what does God have in store for them, and practically parallel religions?

Go read his thread he linked to the long leafpost. Small goals. Small, long term easy goals. Build the foundation. And then it is just faith.

I bet you're like most of us here, above average intelligence and the notion of Faith is a hard one for you. I'd ask the priest to elaborate on faith. That's your 10% you are missing.

I have a question OP and I hope you will respond gently. I married a guy who was raised Catholic. I grew up Baptist. I am deeply spiritual and fond of philosophy. I remember before we got married I had a conversation with him where I cried because he said he was atheist or agnostic, and I said I couldn't see how I could marry someone who felt that way because I see Gods beauty and grace in everything around me in the world. Anyway, we got married. Probably more out of fear than love. We were mid thirties, both respectable people, slight fear of commitment issues but ready to try. I knew, however, at the altar that I was not "in love" with this man and I prayed to God for forgiveness or assuredness that this was his will and supposed to happen. We fought a lot and made each other miserable for 2 years. Rarely had sex. He was very critical of me constantly and I was angry and explosive in response. We tried and tried to come together on our similarities but our only happy times were when we traveled together. After two years I did something I am ashamed of - a coworker was kind and encouraging to me on a trip- and we kissed. I told my husband as soon as I got home. I apologized and said that I was very lonely and needed connection and understanding, and that we were not making each other happy. I moved out, we got divorced. We didn't have kids. It's been a couple of years, and this whole episode has weighed very heavily on me. I regret my actions, hurting him, not having the strength to get my needs met in a better way, or the communication skills or strength to make the marriage work. I regret compromising my character, and I've prayed for forgiveness. I'm not sure that I've been able to forgive myself. I have reflected on it a lot and I know that my original weakness was going into the marriage out of fear instead of love, it was selfish and not a faith-driven decision. I cannot undo my sin. Can God forgive me? do I have another chance?

We do not worship popes. Though I agree that his bending over backwards for Islam is embarrassing.

gnostics got btfo by nicean council. stupid hippies never learn.

Christ is present in the Blessed Sacrament.
John 20:19-23

he has stated he fully believes in the resurrection and such. he implied that ultimately, the whole analysis of christianity as a positive myth cannot be sustained unless you believe the mystical aspects of it.
