This is objectively true.
You do gain, you just don't see it. Why do you think purchasing power si so much higher in the US than in Europe?
Laid off people are the only ones complaining though, that's the point. Mediocre coders will have to adjust and work for less (ie. 120k USD instead of 200k USD) that is not our problem if Americans as a whole gain from it.
And this is the free market in action, if you want to fix possible indenture of labor, work for the removal of country caps in the green card process, like Trump does with the RAISE Act.
Yes, it's good for you as it reduces costs. The rest of the country gains too. Mediocre computer programmers are a MINORITY of a MINORITY, and those are the people affected negatively by H1bs.
Also the RAISE ACT DOES NOT HURT H1bs. CURRENT CAPS ON H1bs are in fact NOT TOUCHED by the RAISE ACT.
IN fact it allows CURRENT H1b holders to adjust to permanent residence faster.
t. I work for a congressman who is going to co sponsor the Raise Act as soon as it doubles employment based immigration numbers.
We support the current version too, but it'd always be better to get what we want.
They are better for the country overall, they're not better overall than the best of American coders.
They're using per capita figures. NAFTA is also good for the US. The only people opposed to it are the ones like you.
Trump changed his mind on H1b long before, why do you think spouses of H1b holders still have work aurhotization?
I've been to meetings with policy makers, Miller had concerns about H1b but he has been assuaged.
We are targeting hispanics and illegal aliens.
Another useless anecdote with zero relevance.
