This necessarily means that if you adopt American ways and pay your dues to the country, then you are able to be American. European countries are nation states with shared histories and languages. They are countries which have actively been at war with each other.
They may band together with one another in times of war, but should otherwise remain separate.
It would be a great oversimplification to consider the orderliness of the Germans and the amorousness of the Italians in the same category.
That being said, they are already in such a war, a war of reproduction and foreign invasion. So perhaps you might be right after all. But it might be better to bind them as their ancestors did a millenia before, that of Christians defending the faith against Muslim invaders.
