While the govt has me working over-time regarding our friends in the Far East, id like to share some points with you on the situation.
North Korea can be regarded as a non-issue, in the sense that their direct threat to the US is very small.
North Korea has only recently developed a capable missile that can reach the US West Coast. We have had missiles capable of reaching Korea since 1957.
The Korean military is a shadow of what they portray on propaganda films. Half of the army is starving, and their equipment is outdated and hard to come by. (not enough rifles for each soldier)
The biggest threat is towards Japan and South Korea. Kim would not think twice before wiping Seoul or Tokyo off the face of the Earth.
Consider our strategy on the peninsula to be a massive show of force. The only one in North Korea who believes he can match the power of the US is Kim himself. The North Korean General Staff and Leadership corp would much rather depose him and begin talks as opposed to marching towards their collective doom.
