/dgg/ - DeGoogle General

Friendly reminder that if you're a person who respects their individual privacy and freedom, there is no reason to be using the products created by the botnet that is the Google company.

There is a plethora of options available for you to replace your Google apps that are lighter, faster and better in general, including respect for freedom and privacy.

Bump because important

You forgot the most important part
>adnauseam.io/

I'll put it in next time. I think it's unsustainable in the long term, however.

You can still debotify OG Firefox though.

bump

>I think it's unsustainable in the long term, however.
Why?

Honest question:
Why isn't TOR on this list? Sure it has been compromised by the NSA, but we are talking about not beeing tracked by google which it can do. Other than that it is still pretty fucking safe and anonymous.

>Why isn't TOR on this list? Sure it has been compromised by the NSA

Google has the resources to detect and prevent ad clicking fraud.

If you are just looking to deny google data and ad revenue it'd still work wouldn't it?

I live the Chrome inspector for work. What are my other options?

>operating system?
GNU/Linux or OpenBSD.

A virtual machine would be good aswell. Instead of no data, give em fake data.

What's wrong with Opera?

need to swap Pale Moon with Waterfox

Pale Moon is an ugly old shitty project.

Waterfox uses the latest Firefox, has a nice website, compatible with extensions, look nice, etc.

also add Qwant to the search engines, its better than most of those. up there with DuckDuckGo

Only blocks in private browsing, doesn't click

Very little development and supports Google as default search engine.

Didn't Palemoon offer extensions to mimic the design of other browsers?

How is Waterfox is not included in war on misinformation? Isn't it same with Firefox?
Explain to a normalfag please.

I would but I love Greasemonkey too much. What exactly is Firefox going to do anyways? Give me warnings when I visit "fake news" sites?

I'll continue using Chrome until I find something as fast, pretty (minimalistic), has add ons and compatible with ublock origin.

waterfox = firefox = soros approved newspaper

>No Android alternative

See red * symbol in OPs picture. Everything that is firefox based is essentially compromised

>waterfox
>soros to fight misinformation Mozilla has been compromised and cant be trusted
>pic related

Am I missing something?

>vivaldi
>actually recommending nonfree software
>not recommending icecat
Fuck off and die.

Besides iOS, there aren't many that are Android free.

Well i like it and i use bookmarks/speed dials.

>tfw no mobile templeOS version

>See red * symbol in OPs picture. Everything that is firefox based is essentially compromised

Pale Moon is Firefox-based

I've had good experiences with Opera, and supporting software from my country is a plus. So what's so bad about it?

I want that burger to respond.

You are right.
Its missing a red mark then.

iOS is more botnet than android.
Replicant IS android, but with all the nonfree software removed (FSF approved). But it's on Android 5.1 right now and development is slow due to lack of manpower.

What about cell phones? Android requires you to have a google account and Apple is trash.

Holy cow iv been searching for this gif for ages

"Its all yours my friend"

>not recommending icecat
>it's literally recommended as god tier
the fuck are you on?

>what is Opera
>what is Iridium

these threads should be a general on all boards, this is important

I'm surprised opera isn't recommended more. the only negative i've seen is that it's owned by the chinese. if you don't live in china, who cares?

I use Opera. what about it though?
that shitty chart only comments on marketshare but no security or if it's redpilled or not.

>Tor is compromised
No. It's not. It doesn't matter if the NSA owns nodes (I haven't seen any proof that it does but this is commonly said for some reason) it does not mean that the encryption that Tor uses is compromised. Stop spreading FUD and misinformation. Tor's encryption is a standard, and the only way information could be leaked out of Tor is if:

1. You are a retard
2. You are using HTTP sites
3. You de-anonymize yourself

Seriously, the source code for both Firefox and Tor are completely open source and are regularly audited and have any issues that come about fixed. Most Tor exploits rely on JavaScript, and if you disable JavaScript using NoScript, which is included, they won't effect you.

Screencap this post

Er, you realize Sup Forums and recaptcha is botnet? Hiroshimoot is known for selling 2ch data.

What if I use lynx browser? It wasn't mentioned.

because bookmark managing with opera is a nightmare.

>search engine?
Qwant

There is a reason it is in the base choices of brave.

you know what? nothing.
Sup Forums is just being autistic as usual.

Look into Jim Watkins, Racequeen Inc, and how they are connected with other websites that I am not allowed to name on this website.

>Sup Forums is botnet
Correct, the source code for the engine it runs on is not available. vichan source code, lynxchan source code, Infinity source code, they're all open for peer review.

>Recaptcha is botnet
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT
Sup Forums pass is the only way out of it. Sup Forums could implement their own internal captcha, but due to the resources required I seriously doubt such a thing would happen.

Lynx is a terminal-based browser which does not support JavaScript or images. You can use it to view basic websites at best.

Qwant search engine runs great.

Anyone using else vivaldi browser? So far it's been great for me although it is based off chromium

Oh yes lynx is great. It doesn't have the capability to run JavaScript or CSS or display images and all cookies are prompted by default.

>Pale moon is an ugly
Yeah. You do need to configure the appearance of the browser first. Takes 15 minutes.

>Old
Wrong. They get commits on a regular basis.

>Shitty
Also wrong. Very stable, very fast, very lightweight

>Extensions
Once FF 57 drops it will be compatible with more extensions than Firefox. It supports "Jetpack" extensions via the Moon Tester Tool addon.

>Look nice
A plethora of themes are available.

>Add Qwant to the search engines
Agree, but some resources to do with running your own searx instance would also be very nice.

You can read older interviews with moot about the captcha thing. They actually tried to implement their own captcha service, but it was a coding/ management nightmare apparently

Stay classy

Epic is a great browser, native ad- and tracker-blocking, built-in proxy, etc

OP is a nigger

Where does Torch scale up on the list?

Also when it comes to Broswers, the big used are Chrome (Firefox), Safari, IE and Opera.

When building websites it is always these browsers that we have to try to target for compatibility and even though many web browsers have gotten better over the years, they still not 100% the same thing when handling the code. So my question to you is, how do these other browsers handle certain websites? Especially with HTML5 pages?

Non-free software. Can't be trusted and depending on your view is "unethical".

OP as an update on future threads, can you also include links for where people who want to contribute code can go?
E.g. projects like ipfs that need more people working on improving internet infrastructure, decentralization, privacy, security and so forth.

It's not enough that people get away from the botnets. Some of us want to actually contribute and improve the situation.

If there's one thing incredibly important right now, it's retaking control of the internet from ISP's, search engines, and fake news media. We need to make the internet by people and for people again.

Where is link of soros to Firefox? On their blog there was only some stuff about anti-misinformation project.

Full traffic on TOR isn't easy to track, but you have to remember you don't know who sets nodes up. You can just set node up yourself and take over packets going through your station. If it happens to be exit station, you can monitor the traffic. It's probability game. Node can be set up by genuine, honest guys who won't spy on you, by chineese data miners, or law enforcement. Just remember about it when using it.

Does it support windows?

This. Are they planning to block sites they label as not trustworthy? What they can do besides that? Browser isn't search engine so they can't block search results themselves, besides if they would cooperate with google, there would be no need to create blocks on browser level because google could delist their own results. But then again you can just use different search engine.

The coding part isn't an issue. There are multiple multiple free and open source captcha services available. However with machine learning it is becoming increasingly easy to get past the old image-based captchas. Management issues could be related to performance, and there's also the isssue of security. Say Sup Forums kept recaptcha around but also made a non-botnet local captcha: Attackers would go for the local captcha because getting past it would be much easier. Anyone could wipe Sup Forums at any given time. It's not hard at all. All you need to due is pay a company to give you access to a bank of private proxies on residential IPs and then pay a captcha solving service to handle the solving of any and all captchas. Recaptcha solving services cost $3 for 1000 captchas. How much do you think it would cost to wipe Sup Forums?

What about mobile OS for smart phones?

privacytools.io/

the only site you need (almost)
covers search engines, how to make Firefox secure, OSes router software, and shitload of other things

copperhead.co/android/

super bird is pretty good aswell anyone wanna try a quick swing and tell me how it is.

Non-free how? They have integrated ad blocking and free VPN. I hadn't checked it out for a couple years before now, and honestly it looks very pretty.

I'll be using Google anyway as it's the best search engine anyway.

If Opera has better privacy than Chrome, and Opera looks great, do convince me why I shouldn't use it, autists of Sup Forums?

ask Sup Forums they have multiple

>Sup Forums could implement their own internal captcha, but due to the resources required I seriously doubt such a thing would happen.

Shitty BBS's and web 1.0 forums have had their own captcha implementations for the better part of two decades. Sup Forums itself USED to have a non-google captcha, but was switched over to google because Moot wanted to help their book scanning algorithms and he probably got money from it on top of things.

Implementing non-google captcha is NOT difficult in the slightest.

Does anyone know which browser supports features where I can exclude sites from beeing cookie -blocked? I dont want to reset my settings and filters every time I visit Sup Forums

Didn't know Steve1989 was pol

"non-free" means "they're not open source". Which means, "I cannot view their source code and verify that they aren't spying on me or doing other nefarious things"

The only software you can 100% trust is what you're able to audit and verify yourself. Open source allows that. Anything closed-source does not.

sailfishos.org/

Non-free as in the source code is not available. You don't know what actually makes it run. It steals the source code of upstream chromium, and uses that as the backend. With Opera VPN, you are the product. Your data is what makes it free. The entire thing is just Chromium with no real improvements. Opera doesn't have better privacy than Chromium or Chrome.

Implementing one is easy. The resources required for captcha generation on the other hand are not. It could be computationally expensive to generate captchas for all the users of Sup Forums, although I'm not entirely sure.

Use Self-Destructing Cookies and whitelist the sites you don't want to get deleted.

>YouTube?
I'd like to add that if you know the address, use hooktube.com/ thevideolettershere . OP add this on that segment pl0x

Highly recommend people go through the trouble of securing shit with info from this website.

That ekansovi spybot thing Sup Forums had not too long ago was blocked by taking the measures you can read about on that site. I've got a bunch of shit blocked off and locked down in firefox now to prevent tracking. The last thing I need or want are "advertisers" de-anonymizing me.

This stuff is important but I don't share anything personal online in the first place. I also don't do my shopping or anything else online either so I don't really care if Google is tracking my information. I'm not providing anything real anyway.

>Russian user run from Yandex to Google
>American user run from Google to Yandex.

In general it would be a far better idea for someone to make a MediaGoblin instance or to just use vid.me. But hooktube is good for viewing content creators who have not yet moved to other services.

activistpost.com/2017/08/mozilla-joins-george-soross-efforts-launching-strike-fake-news.html

I figured the VPN wouldn't be safe to use, makes no sense they'd make it free if they weren't making money off it somehow.

But regarding the open source issue, is that really so bad?

Master race browser coming through.

whatever happened with the ekansovi thing? anyone ever figure out what it was.

I didnt keep up with it, just checked it was blocked by umatrix after seeing threads about it.

Yes. The only people who actually know what Opera is doing is the Opera developers themselves. A web browser handles every bit of content that you publish or interact with online. If anything on your system should be open source, it is your operating system and your web browser.

What did he mean by this?

Why the fuck wouldn't I trust icecat over closed source shit based on google?

duckduckgo is jewish, dont use it

WHAT ABOUT SEAMONKEY?

Making captchas is easy, but making captchas that are bot-proof are difficult.
Thats why googles picture based captchas are great, because image recognition is something that only few bots can do really well.

Name one thing wrong or non-free or non-private with having your anonymous metadata in google.
Google apps are more convenient and better than alternatives. No other search is as good as google, nor allows for such personalization, tailoring results for your needs. No email filters spam as good, etc.

How do I make Pale Moon look pretty?

Is there any decent browser compatible with adbolck?

Please tell me you guys don't use the proven botnet, duckduckjew?

I know Sup Forums throws around botnet all the time, but duckduckjew is a literal botnet

Always bump a DeGoogle General thread. Thanks for making this OP.

What of Vivaldi

itt: people scared about getting raided for searching cp

any cupertino user here? Here's a simple way to fuck with Google... dual boot a laptop with Kali, go near Google's place, and aireplay-ng deauth them... you will end up disconnecting all of them within seconds and you don't even have to connect to the network... it's an efficient way to fuck their productivity up... u might need more network cards bc there are probably a ton of routers there

Some Sup Forums guys were about to reverse engineer it, but the thing got removed before anyone could find out what the obfuscated javascript was actually doing.

I need help with Brave.
It takes at least 30 sec before it load up when i start it and while using it every 2-3min it stops responding for few second then starts working again.
Is this a system problem or browser?

this

reminder that shifty hiro was never meant to be our new admin and was the result of miscommunication

Ah alright then. So what's an open source browser fit for 2017?

If I need to use something that looks as if it hasn't been updated since 1999 just to hide my midget porn, I'm not doing it.
