Be emthapetic. You too would be offended by a monument dedicated to a figure who'd fought for the enslavement of your people.
The argument put forward by many of the 'statue remainers' is "they're part of our heritage and the history of this country ". OK, so why not put them in a museum where they can be appreciated by likeminded people? If you can compromise, the destruction of your history can be avoided.
Furthermore, didn't the Confederacy lose the Civil War? Why should there be monuments dedicated to the losers of a war? Isn't history written by the victors? This is another reason the statues should be moved to a museum, where they can be appreciated by those interested or made use of by historians.
museums are carefully curated by historians. they don't just put any bullshit in a museum to prove a point.
Andrew Taylor
The losers are americans too you fucking inbred
Its a statue that commemorates the deaths of millions of young men who fought in our bloodiest war (americans vs americans)
Reminder: more americans died in the civil war than world war 1 and 2 combined.
Alexander Russell
Makes sense to me, but the left is ISIS at this point(of course the right is getting that way to).
Gavin Thomas
probably the best solution desu
good luck getting either side to entertain the thought tho
Leo Morgan
they were young men just like you. fighting an unwinnable war.
Caleb Torres
I agree with this. If there was a Stalin statue in Russia, shouldn't it be taken down??
Kayden White
Apparently these statues are valued by many people, and according to , "commemorate the deaths of millions of young men who fought in our bloodiest war..." If they're an important part of history, that's where they should go.
Adam Clark
Why can't some wealthy southerners who own property in the city just buy them and put them up on their own property?
Sebastian Mitchell
Just relocate them. Worked for us.
Parker Thomas
The Confederate monuments aren't even really about the Confederacy. They went up as a counter-culture move against the civil rights movement. It's part of the unique American insanity.
Stalin didn't lose and there are still statues of him standing in Russia.
Tyler Robinson
Mmm The enscriptions could be replaced with ones not honoring the military leader, but commemorating the sacrifices made by America as a whole.
Asher Reyes
that's a good argument.
too bad it's bullshit, and you're lying. you don't actually care, at all.
Jordan Sullivan
Should have melted that thing down the moment the Russians started chimping out.
James Williams
I'm not an American. Of course I don't care about those statues as much as Americans. That's why I used somebody else's argument. But moving them to a museum, a place where history can be preserved, seems to be the only option. They are offensive to some groups and they WILL be removed otherwise.
Christopher Parker
>The Confederate monuments aren't even really about the Confederacy. They went up as a counter-culture move against the civil rights movement. It's part of the unique American insanity. This. Most confederate monuments were put up after 1920 as part of the "Lost Cause" historical revisionism of the civil war that the south likes more than reality. Just look at Robert E Lee. When he was alive, he was extremely opposed to any statues being put up in his likeness. Then a few decades after his death, southerners decided to mythologize him and put his likeness up everywhere. They have zero respect for Lee as a person.
Aaron Diaz
>fought for the enslavement of your people That is historically incorrect.
Chase Garcia
OK, but would blacks have been able to run free had the Confederates won the Civil War?
Lucas Sullivan
It's funny that there were actual veterans of the Civil War still alive when some of these Confederate Memorials were erected and they were not offended by them. It is sad that 120 years later there are dumb fucks that don't know shit about anything tearing down memorials to Americans that died in the bloodiest war our Country ever fought. It is tragic that people are allowed to dishonor our dead and trample our history while a statue of Vladimir Lenin sits proudly within the borders of our Nation. The people doing this should be ashamed and they should be punished.
Luke Fisher

No.

Cooper James
>General Lee fought for enslavement
>they were losers
It was the civil war, which means it was our own people, it was the most american blood ever spilled, and it was primarily over secession.
Liam Garcia
Only savages destroy history and culture.
Ryan Cook
>Only savages destroy history and culture.
well said 8.5/10
Anthony Butler
>They have zero respect for Lee as a person. >"p-please let us take down your statues. It's in your own best interest. You wouldn't want the ghost of Robert E Lee to feel ashamed of you, don't you?" fuck off.
James Jenkins
They really do need to move all that shit to a museum. More so if it is on public property.
Angel Cook
Literally who looks at statues? Just keep them where they fucking are, really. Moving them removes context of history.
Eli Wood
Just replace the plaques with your own version of history.
Justin Russell
>Why should there be monuments dedicated to the losers of a war? Because they're Americans?
Carter Young
If you think this situation is about any of that stuff, you're crazy.
It's about the leftists showing their enemies who's in charge.
Parker Richardson
>Be emthapetic. You too would be offended by a monument dedicated to a figure who'd fought for the enslavement of your people.
I'm not protesting the Obama monument though.
Christopher Bennett
It's about rewriting historical identity of a nation and people beliefs. No one fucking cares about statues. They do that everytime they revolt. Commies destroyed churches and tsar legacy. Post commie goverments destroyed commie legacy. America is in the middle of leftie revolution.
Justin Richardson
We created a museum/park with all the Soviet statues we tore down after getting independence. It's a good idea.
