gonna plug a book that I think is worth reading if you have a couple days to go through it (pirate it if you are so inclined), even with the hyperbolic title
It's the only book (that I know of, please tell me if there is another) on Bannon's history and how he went from a Naval Officer during the Iran Crisis, to a Goldman Sachs corporate raider, to a media executive, to a World of Warcraft Gold Farming Baron, to a Conservative documentary filmmaker, to the CEO of Breitbart, to the CEO of a Presidential campaign and currently the Chief Strategist of the President of the United States.
The Author (Bloomberg's Joshua Greene) makes it clear he didn't expect the strategy to work and through it would be a losing campaign, but does tell the history of how Bannon came to be in a pretty good fashion.
I read through the book and it does give a really good story of how it all came to be with some great quotes. The author wrote about Bannon well before he became a well-known figure (as early as October 2015 when he called him "The Most Dangerous Political Operative that was set on destroying both the Bush and Clinton political dynasties"). Was a pretty quick read.

He at least states his bias that he did not expect Trump to win and did not think it was a winning strategy (and makes sure to say that upfront). He has some respect for Bannon so he gives a clear view of his upbringing, and sticks to the facts of what occurred during his life. Since there isn't many books written about Bannon as of yet it's probably the only book that gives a history of him with quotations from even people like Bannon himself so it's not a bad read.
