So can we have a civil discussion about city planning, public transportation and city growth?
I just moved to Copenhagen from one of the absolute worst cities when it comes to getting around, Houston, Texas. To get anywhere you need a car. Everything is so spread out and it's impossible to walk or bike anywhere. Public transport is fucked and is basically a death trap for a white person. If you're driving a car, the highways are always packed and it takes ages to get anywhere because of dumb drivers who sit on their phones and crash into you.
Then I moved to Copenhagen and it's like another world. Everyone is biking and they have neat automated metro that goes 24/7 ever 3-4 minutes.
It should almost be mandatory to make people live more compact, significantly reduce car ownership and increase efforts to improve public transport. It will be more efficient, it would reduce time to commute, clean the air, reduce noise and get people healthier. What other arguments are against it except "muh freedoms"?
Compact living would be possible in america if there was never slavery, urban areas would be safe.

I don't think public transport the way it works in Europe could ever work in US cities. Maybe in the immediate downtown area, but further out? The US has parking lots bigger then European city blocks, you'd need a bus stop at every store...
