>Charlottesville was just a car accident with a single death why won't people get over it? Way more people die in ISIS attacks or even just normal car accidents!
You guys realise this is really, really bad logic and makes your whole group look evil, right? I hate the phrase "bad optics" because it's so cynical. But to dig your heels in to the point where you're justifying a car running over pedestrians means you've lost the high ground. You're like islamist apologists that use civilian deaths in Iraq to justify foreign acts of murder. Also, you can literally justify ANYTHING if you're just going to compare it to a worse tragedy.
Also, the argument that the protesters were to blame because they provoked the driver first is so piss-weak. I'm sure it is true that he was provoked but you have to understand that this kind of argument would never stand up in a court of law. "Oh I ran them over because they were chucking objects into my car your honour." Why is this a bad argument? It's because the balance of power is in favour of the guy in a metal cage with a modern engine powering it. The humans being run over have no protection. The human body is mostly liquid water and bones are brittle and break easily when run over by a car. Why do you think 13 people died in barcelona? Human bodies are fragile. We should have no sympathy for people that carry out such cowardly acts of violence.
White nationalists have lost.
