I work with dogs and dog owners for a living professionally. Pittys are a great breed if raised a d trained properly but you have to recognize that by nature they are inherently much more dangerous than say, a golden retriever, standard poodle, a husky, Akita etc.
One of my biggest pet peeves are(largely affluent white women around thirty with no children) people with a savior complex who rescue pit bulls as some sort of status symbol and then come to me because shocker they take a lot of work.

I believe background checks for people who get fire arms is a necessity and proper training is needed. Ptibulls really need a lot of work and a lot of people just buy them now as a virtue signaling fad. They do not realize that these dogs are bred to be aggressive and although it does not always show it's there and they will snap if they aren't getting enough exercise, are being agitated by children or people who do not know how to properly approach a dog, or if they become territorial. They're a dog breed that needs to be taken seriously and there should be standards met when owning one. Most of those pit attacks happen because of the owners neglecting the fact that these dogs are an aggressive working breed. I have been attacked by pitbulls too recently by one that was very friendly towards me but aggressively friendly and would ignore personal space.
