Thrash metal is inherently mixed with punk as far back as the 80s though. Thrash originated from hardcore punk in the early 80s and was called thrashcore, thrash metal only came when bands tried to combine thrashcore with venom/motorhead's sound.

I hate the vocals in both. I don't like any vocals I can't understand and possibly sing along to. Part of my enjoyment of songs is from the lyrical content. Both Metallica and Megadeth had sociopolitical themes that I enjoyed.
Also the more modern singers seem a lot more whiny to me. Even the ones doing extreme vocals sound like they are try-hards.
I think the internet is ramping everyones social awareness up and now ego is a large part of people's personalities. I think I dislike modern metal for a similar reason I hate rap music. It's a projection of ego and a way to try and act powerful. But to me it comes across as somebody who is actually weak trying too hard.

no, you're just frustrated, virtue-signalling, edgy virgins.
What separates you from similar outcasts from previous generations is that you have the internet and can congregate on anonymous forums.
You guys aren't really the counter-culture, the nationalist and rightist sentiments among "mainstream" young people are however a bit of a rebellion against a left-centrist status quo and just like all other youth's rebellions, it will shift to left/left liberalism in a couple of years and so on and so on.
