Are they retarded? Thats not very smart considering they have tornados in 'murca.

House prices....If they made shit out of good materials, their house would cost millions.

That is what happens when you play the subprime lottery.

so we can put wires and pipes in them shits

enjoy putting your used toilet paper in the trash instead of flushing it because your shitty tiny pipes are behind 8 inches of mortar and can't be replaced lmfao

Because if there is something we aint lacking, its timber. We got too much of that shit here.

Because it costs 3x+ as much, you fat fuck

People push to make the cheapest homes possible. But they cant do it everywhere. In Florida their building codes require all buildings be made with concrete. After Hurricane Andrew they realized they cant not have concrete houses.

t. Floridafag

Wood is our cheapest and most plentiful resource. I don't know about many other countries but lumber in germany was 5 to 8 times higher than in the US when I was there.

why are americans so poor? like why not use bricks? get a brain morans

My walls are made out of Sheetrock and wood you faggot.

Lolwut?

yeah in a large enough tornado it doesn't really matter what your home is made of..

That wall in your pic is probably at least 100 years old.

So now it is politics related. Why doesn't Russia, which has wood out the ass, sell it to West Europe? And Canada, which has wood out the ass, sell it to the USA and Mexico?
And me, who is stupid out the ass, doesn't know much about the timber industry.

murca? It's called America dumb ass, I never disrespect any European countries, please reciprocate.
Wood is cheap, plentiful, and good for most areas of the country. That's why it's used.

You meant "can't have wood built houses"?

My house is solid brick and the interior walls are some sort of concrete shit.
Stop this meme

No sense putting a lot of money into a house if the bank is just gonna come take it the fuck away from you anyway.

People don't oversee the building of their own homes anymore. They're not built by the intended residents. They're building them in giant swathes now, and megamillionaire developers are building them.

It's pretty rare for a family to choose a plot of land, design the perfect home, and then oversee it's construction. That's how it used to be for many people, but no more. Now homes/property are a commodity to be traded, borrowed against, etc, and the debts are bought and sold and traded amongst jewish bankers. It's a numbers game now. Cram the most homes into the smallest space is the name of the game. Have them built by team like it's an assembly line. Then sell them at 80% profit to some working class family who will pay 3x the agreed price by the time they've paid off the (((bankers))).

Welcome to America. Coming to a neighborhood in your country this summer.

>tfw no redneck trailer fortress

it's redneck Big Shell

>Thats not very smart considering they have tornados in 'murca.
You do realize how big the US is right? We have a tornado alley, but we don't have tornados everywhere.
Think of how cold a brick or concrete house would be in WI in the middle of winter. What the fuck else are we gonna do with all this wood?

Here in Florida all new homes, post Hurricane Andrew (1991) have to be built with either concrete block or poured concrete.

I saw some pics of a roof that was made of something like a floor carpet, and it was on one of those "McMansions", it literally looked like they put that cheap plastic carpeting directly on the roof, does anyone know what I'm talking about?

>enjoy putting your used toilet paper in the trash instead of flushing it because your shitty tiny pipes are behind 8 inches of mortar and can't be replaced lmfao
Even the worst and cheapest commie blocks have normal plumbing here.

I heard of this phenomenon though, but I forgot in which countries, they have to have fucking trash bins with shitty toilet paper, it sounds terrible. What countries actually have that as a widespread thing?

Which concrete company owning jew kike came up with that law?

Because they used to construct houses like that, but it was more expensive than wood while making it more difficult to run power, cable, plumbing, etc.

You quickly realize that living in a 16th century concrete bunker loses its appeal when you can't run an ethernet cable without breaking out a diamond cutting wheel.

are you retarded? you're not very smart considering we have earthquakes here

That's lath and plaster, it's almost certainly quite old and solidly constructed. It's not the best picture to illustrate your point

OP's next thread will be about why American use popcorn ceilings.

His thread after that will be about why Americans use 2 wire ungrounded receptacles.

Why don't you just run computer/video cables under floor molding? You only have to cut like 30cm for the outlet.

Other than that, usually every room has plenty of electrical outlets, and it's not like you change the location of the bathroom every few years?

Electricians just cut into the wall and put everything where you want them to put it when you're renovating, it's hardly such a downside that it balances with hollow walls.

Idk what roof material you are talking about unless someone put AstroTurf on a flat roof or something. Most of our wooden houses just have plywood, a layer of felt paper or like a polyisomer roll roofing stuff and then a layer of tar paper shingles

>justifies paying for and living in a glorified paper mache shack because of increased difficulty running cable
>"weaker is better, stronger is so 16th century"
>doesn't know that modern concrete infrastructure has standardized cutouts where everything is runnable
Enjoy your popsicle stick doghouse.

Are you kidding? It's Florida.

People in this thread falling for the wood meme and hvac meme.

have fun living in your molded tinderboxes while I enjoy my near freezing temperatures in my earthbag and plaster cabin while its 40c outside

Brick houses collapse in hurricanes or tornados. Would you prefer a pile of lightweight 2x4 boards or a 10 ton pile of bricks and concrete on top of your storm shelter?

Also it doesnt cost $800,000 to build a 3 bedroom house out of wood. And its WAAAAY easier to update wooden structures. Ive lived in europe. Once I got over the novelty that the brick flat I rented was built only a few years after my country was founded I quickly realised that having only 3 power outlets in the entire apartment fucking sucked. Plus no built in alcove for a laundry machine, shitty ineffective turn of the century radiator that couldnt heat the apartment in winter and zero ability to add AC in summer.

You cant do SHIT to such a structure built out of stobe without spending enough to build an entire new house in america just because you want power outlets that arent nigger rigged and reliable temperature control.

Vs my wooden house in the USA where I can install literally anything I want on my own for a few hundred bucks instead of having to hire a 12 person crew of eurocuck socialist weasel stone masons who bill me for the 6 hours per 8 hour shift they spend just sitting around drinking coffee.

>And Canada, which has wood out the ass, sell it to the USA and Mexico?

Canada does. A lot. That's actually one of the sore points with the nafta negotiations right now. Trump put a tariff on Canadian softwood. The US/Canada lumber trade goes way back and is seemingly always being negotiated back and forth.

You don't use concrete in cold weathers. Not only would using concrete make the house colder during winter, but it can also easily crack. Furthermore, concrete houses do not fare well in earthquakes, while wood can flex a little bit. Finally, wood is also cheaper and easily transportable, which is important considering that the united states and canada are huge countries, and building something out of cement in remote areas can be very difficult. woodalso seems to be doing the job just fine. The only place were cement is used is public buildings like malls or offices and high rises.

>popcorn ceilings
Because it's cheap finish to cover up poor ceilings and drywall? Popcorn is literally poorfag-tier - you find it with old homes from the 80s that have brown carpet everywhere. People who renovate pay to have it removed.

Earthquakes bro, if you make a brick house out here in California you'd be fucked.

>American Building Quality Thread
Alright let's review other countries.

...

^ this
eurofags also think manual tranmission is superior
they just like to justify their pathetic living standards after the socialists hijacked their prosperity and disarmed them

how much does it cost for a house in your country?

>concrete
What about pic related?

Yes, thank you, it was exactly this "roll roofing" thing, pics on imagesearch look exactly like it, and there was no shingles or anything on it, it just had a slightly dotted texture like a carpet. It looked really silly.

>modern concrete structures

Keyword. Modern. In eurocuckistan like 3/4ths of the buildings are just 17th century brick and stone buildings with modern facades.

They will have like maybe, MAYBE one power outlet per room. It will all have been nigger rigged in back in the 60's.

There will be zero AC, there will be only the most inefficient 1970's concessions towards heating for when its cold.

The kitchen will be abput the size of a typical american closet because eurofucks eat out most of the time and usually only buy thier food one meal at a time.

The bathroom will look like somebody made a halfassed attempt to update it in the 80's. If you are germany the toilet will be this wierd shit-platter design where your turd just falls onto this platform only 6 inches from your ass because apparently disecting your own shit was a national passtime in germany until recently.

Literally trying to add ANYTHING modern to most of those old european stone and brick structures will cost you enough to just build a new house in the USA.

Modern apartments in euro-stan are usually packed with refugees because the muslims getting thier rent paid by welfare are the only people who can afford them.

>What countries actually have that as a widespread thing?

Georgia i suppose

Most houses here already use brick on the outside.

>dat butthurt

Seriously. No fucking joke. Literally every european worker spends 80% of thier time just sitting there looking stupid. Thanks to crazy fuvkin unions and protectionist laws there are 3 things you are garunteed to run into with european contractors:
1: they are going to immiediatley report and fine you for a few dozen code violations that were made 200 years after the structure was built.
2: They almost cant be fired. Like at all.
3: they are going to build the most over-engineered complicated bullshit with the most expensive matierials possible and it is going to take as long as possible to do. The govt there WANTS THIS because instead of taking 3 guys 2 days and costing $2000 like in the USA its gotta (almost by law) take 3 weeks and 12 guys $25,000 otherwise the european economy would collapse.

>You quickly realize that living in a 16th century concrete bunker loses its appeal when you can't run an ethernet cable without breaking out a diamond cutting wheel.

*A magic invention appear

disposable, not retarded. like everything in US of A.

We put in reinforced concrete tornado shelters in the basement 9ft tall by 18 inches wide wall with steel running horizontal and vertical every 20 inches Iowa Annon here

>getting crushed by concrete is better than getting hit by wood

Neck yourself meme flag faggot.

But there's a difference between a wood house, like, say, what they use in traditional Japanese construction, and pic related, which is basically a glorified shack on some thin foundation which will sink in a couple years straight into the ground, if it doesn't blow over in the wind before then. The cheapest material possible, just popsice stick 2x4s and plywood.
Yes, you're right, but OP mentions construction, which implies current day construction and its practices. None of the shacks being built today will last as long as those 17th century buildings have.

>What countries actually have that as a widespread thing?

Mexico, Central and South America.

Actually many houses in tornado alley, built with in the last 30 years, are brick

>not living in a enviromental-stable country

pls user

>56%
>not so here
I wouldn't build differently than you do knowing what will happen soon

MEGA COMFY

Bricks have an R .80 value. With wood 2x4 walls can have an R-13, 2x6 R-19. Better insulation and cost efficient.

Haven't seen a tornado big enough to do anything other than blow down a tree. It's cheap, quick, and easily upgraded or disposed of. How retarded are you to not think of such simple concepts?

????
You mean the entire house is brick or just decorative brick

I live in Florida, and all my walls are solid concrete. It makes renovations a bitch.

When is it feeding time?
What is this and are there real 'Muricans that waddle out of these?

I live in a two story house, 3 bedroom 3 bath, with a massive back yard for only 250k here is AZ.

All while Euros are living in tiny flats with 2 power outlets and no air conditioning and paying out the ass for it.

Most places don't have natural disasters requiring brick and concrete. On paper it sounds great to have a house that could possibly withstand assault by a tank.
In practice you run into problems upgrading or fixing utilities inside brick and concrete based buildings.
That's why "historic" parts of europe look like third world shitholes with plumbing and conduit hanging out. Worse when you go inside and it's like living in a fucking cave.

To be fair the two places I lived were germany and france. Im actually trying to sell a villa overlooking the sea in south france.

You'd fucking THINK "oceanfront property, swimming pool, incredible neighborhood in the cote d'azur, fuck. That oughtta sell pretty quick!"

Honhonhonhon Au contraire, mon frère, you havent encountered the bottomless depths of laziness the french work ethic can sink to. Between realestate agents who took 8 mobths to realize they were supposed to actually bring potential clients to see the house to sell it and then "forgetting" to pay the maintenance company to keep the pool clean and house functionally presentable it hasnt fuckin sold for shit.

To boot the pool broke due to not being maintained and I gotta hire a maid to come clean the dust off of everything, then try to get the realestate company to reimburse me for the money they were supposed to spend on the places upkeep so somebody would actually want to buy it.

Where there are hurricanes and tornadoes they use cinder blocks for framing faggot ass. I'm in a development in Florida (Johns Island) that's worth more than your largest city and all the new houses are cinder block frames. Learn how to solve real problems and stop working wage fag jobs; you might save your parents from eternal disappointment in you. Fag.

Do you have a problem with Americans?

>In practice you run into problems upgrading or fixing utilities inside brick and concrete based buildings.

Not really. Its very easy to repair concrete walls. You just need to have the skill.

AZ though. Its so fucking hot though. It was ok as a kid, but God Damn, its bullshit.
