The internet is the printing press of the modern age and allows information to flow freely outside the control of the state run media. It is now difficult to create the reality by the use of old media because people are no longer listening to them in the same numbers as they used to.
They have already come up with new methods though and now use Facebook and Twitter as social control by removing information that is critical of the establishment view while propping up supporters of their own reality. They also use artists and actors as political tools to encourage people to conform and follow the reality of their idols. Or stars rather, they are called stars because they are the beacon which the people use to navigate life. When the establishment create and control the stars they can chose where the people navigate.
