I stumbled upon this article and thought it was interesting in the sense that I thought it was worth discussing what kinds of stories/characters we introduce our children to. I was raised on Thomas The Tank Engine and can't understand how anyone could find it objectionable, but that makes me think: If Thomas is bad, what do trendy progressive parents think is good entertainment for their children?
So, why would leftist parents hate Thomas the Tank Engine?
Because it was actual diversity is our strength. Many different trains, with different purposes.
Jeremiah Rodriguez
anyone who hates thomas the tank engine, Mr. Rodgers, or Mr. Conductor, is a worthless piece of shit, a literal dumpster fire of a human being.
Noah Bennett
Mr. Rogers wouldn't want you to talk like that

Also they bricked up the fucked up trains.

>Being a useful engine is what makes life worth while. >There is respect for the Fat Controller, not contempt >If your special snowflake pride prevents you from being efficient, you will be punished and walled off from the rest of society.
Anthony Perez
If you think about it, that whole story arc is about Christian morality
>Henry sins by refusing to come out of the tunnel >Sir Topham Hatt ("God") punishes him by bricking him up >Henry is sorry >Sir Topham Hatt forgives him and lets him pull trains again
Bear in mind that the creator was an English reverend and thought of morality as being like a railway line (A straight path with consequences if you go off the rails)

Modern Thomas is not old Thomas. They went full Pokemon years ago, and added eleventy billion new engines just to sell more toys. The original books were reasonable, as were the early television episodes. But the modern stories are utterly banal. They've spent a decade or two barfing out thoughtless content, and it has little merit.
William Collins
what do trendy progressive parents think is good entertainment for their children?
Carson Perez
I grew up with Thomas, as I recall the show was excellent especially considering that since the trains lacked animated faces and so had to drive the relationships with narrative and story telling rather than flashy displays. Messages about recognizing your purpose and striving for the goal even through hardships and setbacks. All the original engines were extremely well defined and further than having different rolls, had massively different personalities and perspectives. I recall one aside episode not focused on main characters depicting the life of an older side branch railroad locomotive. Early on in that episode one newer engine caused substantial trouble on the railroad and I kid you not was parted out to a boiler, forced to sit on the side of the rails and watch the complete locomotives but never to move again. As shows go this is a first rate children's show, not sure about newer episodes but I can see why liberals dislike it.
Noah Gutierrez
New symbol of hate when?
Thomas Perry
Absolutely, strong religious component. Also liked how George Carlin and Ringo Starr were in a kids show
Noah Davis
Thomas teaches kids good morals and the power of working together as a unit in a controlled system rather than striving to "bee ur self" and go against the current, undermining society, like a lot of liberal program's teach. Not to mention that shitty people always have horrible things happen to them as consequence for disobedience or just generally being a piece of prideful shit, usually resulting in a character being thrown off the rails in a crash, removing them from the efficient system as punishment for their acts. This can be found in additionally in the words of Sir Topham Hatt, who sees these incidents as causing confusion and delay in an ideal system through selfishness, pride, fear, or many other human vices that we see represented in the trians, and sometimes other machine constructs such as Cranky the Crane. Additionally, despite being a show only about fucking trains, Thomas is one of the most diverse childrens shows on the market. You have big trains, small trains, old trains, young trains, all of which have their own unique role to play in the "system", with a constant moral in the shows stories being that trains are bound by their physical traits and are unable to do rolls outside them, so they should seek to thrive within their own talents. There's foreign trains who's characters rely heavily on that factor when it comes to their characters in the show, but it's never forced. There's also alegories that can be made with being disabled with the character Henry, who relies on special fuel to function despite being mostly like the other engines, and is not treated differently because of this.
Even a few years ago I would have laughed at your comment.
But now? I think you may be right.

I've alsways seen that reaction image but now that I've seen the source... wtf >that ending where the narrator says Herny deserved every second of agony >that part where the narrator asks the audience if they agree >that part where Sir Toppinhat was a lazy piece of shit and made passengers try to budge the car while excusing himself because of "doctor's orders" >that part where Henry is sorry for his actions but everyone mocks him as they drive by long enough for his paint to chip away YYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
this is the man who will be on the TV if i choose to even have it on when i have kids

Rev. Awdry was pretty much the epitome of a virtuous Christian.
How did they talk the lead singer of the Beatles and one of America's foulest comedian into being voice actors for a kids show anyway?
lol I have an original edition of the book with that.

Pic related. Children like dinosaurs don't they?

>those last ten seconds of cheery music as it zooms into his suffering god damn. >that part where Sir Toppinhat was a lazy piece of shit and made passengers try to budge the car while excusing himself because of "doctor's orders" I wonder if it was intentional reversal, would be surprising for a show like this.
Isaac Parker
Most shows were basically, "If you work hard and get along with your co-workers, you'll be rewarded. If you fuck off and are dick, we might wall you up in a tunnel somewhere for a couple of years or knock your wheels off and turn you into a stationary power plant or something. So work hard and don't be a dick." Can't imagine why Liberals hate it. Pic is a real steam powered Thomas at Strausberg Railroad.

Lead singer. He was drummer. Someone once asked John Lennon if Ringo was the best drummer in the world Lennon replied with "he is'nt even the best drummer in the Beatles" Kek

I guess, but all the engines are historic from different countries. It's not like they introduced a purple engine that thought was a diesel even when it was obviously a steam engine.
Wtf? I loved that show. What the hell is wrong with libshits?
Kevin Perez
Because it acknowledges the technological differences and capabilities between the different engines?
Justin Flores
The most recent episodes have gotten better, and don't seem to cater to autists anymore that much.
This. The Britbong narrator has always been superior to the Americlap one, specially the later seasons when the US one just sounded fucking bored and monotonous.
Tyler Carter
Thomas the tank engine represents order, duty, morals, tradition and the purity of the train race, It shall be our new fascist symbol. HAIL THOMAS, HAIL TANK ENGINES, HAIL VICTORY
David Harris
Jesus Christ, reading the guardian is like reading the journal of a neurotic schizo who thinks the KKK are hiding in his garden shed waiting to kill them. She was actually insinuating the use of white steam from 'good' engines and black smoke from 'bad' engines was racist. This is what the left has come to.
Henry Bennett
Because it promotes working hard and respect for authority.

They'd rather let their children watch cancer like this youtube.com/watch?v=3Jikbiz-z8o >lollrandomXD >inb4 "you just hate it because you're old" This crap kills brain cells and turns kids into zombies who can't think for themselves (that's the answer to your question) My sister would let her kids watch these kinds of shows 24/7 Those kids seem to become increasingly more retarded by the day Every time I see them and I get frustrated when I try to talk to them Shows that teach morals, educational shows, etc. just aren't cool anymore
