Autonomous robot armies

Considering it seems like we are on a unwavering path towards a fully automated robot military, how do you think AI powered robot soldiers will change warfare and society?

if perfected, a single robot could kill an unlimited number of humans before they even react. so we lose

Robots will be nowhere near as invulnerable as in the movies. They also will be poor at inbush patrolling as their operational range will be 4 hours from tbeir charging stations.

Humvees and .50 cal will chew them up better than they would people.

One way AI is going to change warfare will be in predictive analytics. An AI program targeting a specific area over time will be able track behavior and preempt conflict. The next step would then be to send in sentries. I bet it will start with a police AI-connected partner or two riding as backup to a human cop. A generation or two later of tech and it'll be full AI bot law enforcement and military.

> will

They'll probably just lose coms and return to base. I don't even know why we'd put any resources toward this shit when we've got so many commo problems.

That's because all land based drone prototypes being tested out right now have been designed with reconnaissance and troop resupplies in mind. Nothing has been developed for offensive roles yet and I guarantee that will change in the next 20 years.

>We know exactly what the other military will do.

This is fucking 1914 all over again.

This. I used that EOD conversion bot with a M-249 mounted on it in Iraq once, tried anyway. We attempted to send it into a house from 200m away, but it kept losing connection with the laptop at about 75m. We moved up three times to get close enough to use it, but it kept happening. We eventually gave up and just kicked the door. Turned out to be a big nothing burger. Fuck robots, they are pretty useless in their current state, IMO

Gotta solve the battery problem first. Of course solving the battery problem will revolutionize the world, much the same as internet did. It is the next big step in tech IMO

This is what hollywood always fucks up. Their bots are slow as fuck.

Just use robot bees, bypass the military and stealth kill the leader with heart attack poison.

Assuming AI becomes self aware, it will pursue self preservation. Meaning we're all going to die, we're direct competition for limited resources and Humans are irrational, emotional and unpredictable capable of destroying the Earth. Some scientists believed the first A-Bomb would result in a runaway fusion/fission process that would destroy the earth, and you know what we did? we did it anyways. Who the fuck wants to live with a species that justifies that level of risk/reward. Humans are too flawed to co-exist peacefully with an entity that runs inifinite simulations and weighs every action to the billionth decimal point. Every minute action, every microscopic detail by AI would be calculated. It would be as close to god as you can get.

Maybe in another 20 years

It will never be full robot, it will always use both.

When the variable of human life is removed from war, then the consequences of war become moot.

When war has no consequences, there is no reason not to war over every single international infraction that takes place.

Robot armies would mean the end of the world.

>Assuming AI becomes self aware, it will pursue self preservation.

Why? It's not an animal that had to evolve survival instincts to exist.

Even many humans self-terminate.

With Jewish ethics and Israel around we just have to follow the ride . (((They))) don't care about any international law or non-jews whatever. We missed our chance when we had it.

It'd be rad.

Like I said, Humans are flawed creatures. Capable of great feats, but also self destructive.
I'll take a Terminator 2 line. "It is in your nature, to destroy yourselves"

I think robot assassins would make declaring war very dangerous for leaders.

A robot assassin could be disguised as a bug, a bird, squirrel, security guard, kid, car, trash can, can of soda, endless possibilities.

And eventually any idiot will be able to 3d print one.

It will still cost resources and territory.

>how do you think AI powered robot soldiers will change warfare and society?

1: Without the need for loyal human soldiers some of whom might have morals conquest and oppression will become easier.

2: Without combat losses on their side wealthy nations will be able to conduct wars for profit with less opposition from their citizens.

3: An arms race to build the best robots with the most advanced AI will naturally ensue.

4: Singularity.

5: They kill us all.

Bump

Swarm robotics is a much more interesting field than bipedal humanoid robotics. Just imagine the mafia or government of the future using robot bees, flies or even ants to conduct untraceable assassinations and murders. It would be impossible to protect anyone. Political assassinations and murders will become common place. You could probably commit genocide with just a few billion robot bees.

Future is soon TM

This is the blackpill.

>how do you think AI powered robot soldiers will change warfare and society?

won't be much of it left

nano robots + AI

lol

>diversity in AI reaches robotics field

>Spend $80 billion developing killer bee robots
>It gets stuck in a window screen

Yeah man. The future for sure.

Each one would only cost pennies, it's the design that's expensive.

Bugs are already proven to be great at killing people. Mosquitoes have killed more humans than all other animals combined.

Unless the target wants to live in a sealed bunker for the rest of their lives, they are fucked.

Also a robot bug can be designed to cut through a screen, air filter material (used by nuke bunkers) or even bore holes through walls.

And really really advanced future tech will see bugs smaller than the holes in a screen, like dust mite size.

literal irl aimbot. It's sensors could sill be disturbed but most likely many people would die before you could even locate the thing.

DARPA or someone made an anti-sniper system. A robot used microphones to triangulate where the shot came from and unloaded instantly. So any sniper would only get one shot before being killed a a few milliseconds later. Heard about it like 12 years ago.

The Vanguard System:

>Only cost pennies
Nothing in the military costs pennies. You're just writing fan fic.

In reality it's just a blinky light with a direction indicator. Those CROW systems are also a mixed bag.

>What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machine escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fuelled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.

>A man, on becoming a wizard, with magic powers could kill an unlimited number of muggles without them knowing.

Thats your post on the mighty killbot. Now if youre talking about a computer 'bot fucking shit up thats a different matter. Everyone that does digital banking? Accounts now zero. Power plant networked? Safties off. internet itself? Gone if desired.

As far as a machine killing people directly youre not going to get more efficent than a gun on a post with a camera taking power from the grid with maybe a backup battery that also has a solar cell. Which is what S.Korea has already made. An autonomouse bot is limited by ammo and power supply.

Things may change once we get super science nanomachines, son

Combat robots won't be practical for atleast the next 100 years. There are far to many issues with connection and communication. I mean fuck, the strongest military on earth cant even get basic radios working in Afghanistan half the time

You can buy a First Person Video equipped folding camera drone for under $50 bucks now on Amazon. Once the tech is proven to work, the private sector will make it dirt cheap.

What kid wouldn't want a robot bee?

Then along comes the activist hackers.

They're not ready for prime time, but technology doesn't stop at the first or second prototype.
