>on a Chinese social media platform these days, it’s impossible to avoid encountering the term baizuo, or literally, the ‘white left’. baizuo is used generally to describe those who “only care about topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT and the environment” and “have no sense of real problems in the real world”; they are hypocritical humanitarians who advocate for peace and equality only to “satisfy their own feeling of moral superiority”; they are “obsessed with political correctness” to the extent that they “tolerate backwards Islamic values for the sake of multiculturalism”; they believe in the welfare state that “benefits only the idle and the free riders”; they are the “ignorant and arrogant westerners” who “pity the rest of the world and think they are saviours”

How useful would it really be? Do Chinese like people that speak mandarin that much?

You mad that we are colonizing your island? LOL.

This is the main complaint I have heard from educated Chinese. Source: lived in Asia 6 years. Also, nobody likes the Chinese, so they make them speak English. More non-Chinese Asians speak Japanese than Chinese, lol.

No thanks.

The problem with Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese etc) along with all other tonal languages is that it is awfully retarded. Try studying engineering in Chinese and you'd probably understand why. Or try doing chemistry in Chinese.

Combine this with a writing system that hasn't seen any notable innovations or renewal (no, Simplified doesn't count) since the days of Confucius and you realise why Chinese will never ever be a global lingua franca. The writing system, crafted by an inbred scholar-bookworm elite in an effort to monopolise literacy, is cumbersome, inefficient and literally older than Rome.

What do tonal languages have to do with this

Also, have you seen the English writing system?

...

That's not an argument, chang. Tonal languages are what make it an inefficient language for teaching and hinder its movement to the global stage. The Chinese of today are not capable of achieving what they could more than a millenium ago.

$8113?

Wow, they surely are a first world country that will give us a run for our money!

Also we have the issue of the Chinese gene pool.

If you look at all societies across the world, the ruling class and those wielding prestige and influence has almost always been warriors. Physical prowess is something that is admired, thus men who were physically fit rose to the top of society and had many children. In turn this led to the population being physically stronger across generations.

In China, the exact opposite happened. Confucian thought placed not the soldier and the merchant in esteem, but the bureaucrat and peasant. Men who were physically fit (and thus had higher levels of testosterone) were less likely to become a mandarin than unfit men who had lower testoterone.

Thus in China, you had a bookworm, beta ruling class who had monopolised power. These had access to the most women, and led to the physical degradation of the Chinese people.

Explains why most Chinese people are good at taking exams but absolutely hoorid at anything physical.

In most languages you have an alphabet. You have vowels and consonants. The amount of words, expressions and sounds you can craft is limited only by your imagination. Dibstadious!

In Chinese you're limited to 413 syllables. You have 413 words, and these words constitute your language. m, ma, mai, man, mang, mao etc. You can't say zana in Chinese because that syllable doesn't exist.
